We are very excited to present the 2015 edition of your North Idaho Fair & Rodeo. Our theme was selected with the intention of highlighting our two main grounds attractions – Sea Lion Splash and a Live Shark Encounter! Both of these are extremely rare as travelling shows and usually only attend some of the largest fairs and festivals in the country. You will also want to be on the lookout for our other new entertainers including a strolling T-Rex, Pippi the Clown (she is hard to miss) and Cecil the Magician.

The main arena lineup is once again jam-packed full of thrills! Don’t miss the Craig Campbell concert and fireworks spectacular, PRCA Xtreme Bulls, PRCA Rodeos, draft horse show/
pull and the demolition derby. Other returning entertainment includes Lady Houdini (featuring her new “jaws of death”
stunt), spray can artist Matt Sorenson, Incredible Hypnotist Richard Barker, Uncle Curley’s Funtastic Kid’s Zone, Cute as a Bug Petting Zoo, sand sculptor Bill Dowe, All Aboard Express Train, daily parade and four programmed stages. Thanks to the generous financial and volunteer support from the community, we continue to make significant capital improvements to the facility. This can be seen at the new Arena Gate entrance, Farm to Table Park, Sky Lounge VIP arena seating area, improved landscaping and other smaller projects. The North Idaho Fair is aiming for a perfect score with this year’s entertainment line-up, which includes animals, clowns and plenty of fun for all ages. Two of the larger additions sure to be a draw are the Live Shark Encounter and the Sea Lion Splash, two attractions that let people get up close and personal with two types of aquatic critters that aren’t so common to the Inland Northwest. There’s also plenty of fun in store.
Balancing balls, shooting hoops, dancing and flipping are just a few acrobatic moves these adorable friends perform. Root on friendly sea lions as they interact with the crowds and educate fairgoers.
Richard Barker: Incredible Hypnotist Richard Barker’s amazing feats of hypnosis (plus maybe his British accent) make him the international celebrity hypnotist that has begun to take the world by storm! His fresh approach to comedy and hypnosis make his show a truly entertaining and laughter-filled experience. Incredible T-Rex Live Shark Encounter. The show featuring Philip Peters helps educate people about these fascinating creatures. Trained scuba divers interact with nurse sharks in their tank and showcase incredible stunts, including putting the sharks in a trance-like state.
Proceed with caution as you walk the grounds at this year’s fair. There will be a 10-feet tall and 16-feet long T-Rex prowling around. While scary-looking, the ginormous dino still will be willing to stop and pose for pictures. We promise he will be friendly and won’t bite!
The Kootenai County Fairgrounds is located at 4056 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, at the corner of Government Way and Kathleen Avenue, approximately 1/4 mile east of U.S. 95. From Interstate 90, take Exit 12 and head north approx. one mile. Turn right on Kathleen Ave, then left on Government Way. Gate B is the Main Parking Lot.

Craft Beer Happy Hour at the Fair By Renée Sande Sande, Marketing Correspondent
In addition to phenomenal coffee, huckleberries, pristine lakes and mountains, ultra-friendly people and (usually) temperate weather, our region boasts an abundance of craft breweries. In fact, Idaho, Washington and Oregon all place in the top states with total craft breweries per capita, according to the Craft Brewers Association. Craft breweries are known for smaller sizes; traditional ingredients (water, hops and malted barley); non-traditional ingredients, such as fruit, herbs or even oysters; and a focus on community involvement. To celebrate, the North Idaho Fair is inviting five local breweries. “With so many great craft brewers in our area, we thought it would be a great addition to feature them,” says Jerry Johnson, chair of the North Idaho Fair board. Brewers will pour 12-16 ounce servings of two types of beer and will be available to answer questions. Packaged merchandise will be available.
No-Li Brewhouse, Wednesday, August 26 Known as Northern Lights Brewing in the 1990s and early 2000s, owner Mark Irvin was joined by John Bryant, previously of Deschutes Brewery and Oskar Blues Brewery, to rebrand and expand the Spokane brewery in 2012. Now No-Li Brewhouse, has federal approval to classify its beers as “Spokane style” (brewed and packaged in Spokane, and made with ingredients exclusive to the region).
Laughing Dog Brewing, Thursday, August 27 Home to “Fetchingly Good Beer” since 2005, Ben (the dog), Michelle and Fred Colby operate a 15-barrel brewhouse in Sandpoint. Laughing Dog produces over 15 distinct beers, including seasonal favorites like Huckleberry Ale and Winter Ale, as well as award-winning IPAs and stouts.
Bale Breaker Brewery, Friday, Aug. 28 Bale Breaker opened in Yakima in 2013, just down the road from where owners Patrick Smith, Meghann Quinn and Kevin Smith were born and raised. Surrounded by hop fields, first planted by their great-grandparents in 1932, they operate a 11,000 square feet, 30-barrel production brewery with an onsite taproom.

Big Sky Brewing Company, Sunday, August 30th After arriving in Missoula in 1990, homebrewer Neal Leathers made a name for himself when Brad Robinson produced and starred in a local cable access show, “Beer Talk.” The show quickly set viewership records and helped Leathers and Robinson gain a following. 2015 Rodeo includes new lounge, purse S. Michal Bennett, Marketing Correspondent
Each year, then North Idaho Fair and Rodeo strives to make things better and better, and for 2015, some of the improvements center around the PRCA Rodeo. Ty Thomas, marketing and resource development manager, said the rodeo purse has been increased by $10,000. “We did this to entice bigger cowboy names to come in and really improve the rodeo for the fans,” he said. Rodeo spectators can enjoy a new VIP seating area in the Sky Lounge, which will be catered by Texas Roadhouse. Proceeds will benefit the fairgrounds capital improvement fund. There’s also a new pavilion built with a donation from Community First Bank, and a new barrel man.
By Renée Sande, Marketing Correspondent hile clear skies are the hope for opening night at the North Idaho Fair, taking the grandstand stage by storm will be Craig Campbell. Considered to be one of the most promising new artists on the country music circuit, the Georgia-native’s career didn’t take the fast track, but it has been a wild ride. Growing up, Campbell played piano at church and started a band called Out of the Blue. In 2002, he moved to Nashville, where he played keyboards for Tracy Byrd and Luke Bryan and had a regular gig at a downtown bar. However, eight years in and doing the same thing, but now married with a 2-year-old daughter, he faced the need for a “back-up plan.” Music executive Michael Powers, who had been involved with Alan Jackson’s rise to stardom, was starting his own label with a few partners, called Bigger Picture Group. After seeing Campbell perform, Powers asked him to sign. “He was flawless…here’s a guy with a real serious voice and great, solid pitch. He writes and delivers songs as succinctly and directly as you can…it reminded me (of) a lot of things I had experienced working with Alan Jackson. favorites “Fish” and “When I Get It.” His follow-up album Never Regret brought his first Top 10 hit, “Keep Them Kisses Comin’” in 2013. Along the way, Campbell chose to stick to the old country style he knew so well. That appealed to Garth Brooks, who asked him to co-write, “All American Kid” for Brooks’ album, Man Against the Machine. Bigger Picture Group label shut down its doors in 2014, but BBR Music Group quickly signed Campbell to Red Bow Records.
“I am super excited at the opportunity I have with Red Bow,” shares Campbell. “I’m more fired up than I have ever been and can’t wait to get my new music out to radio and the fans!”
