Fourth and fifth graders from the Inland Northwest fill The Fox, most to experience the symphony for the first time. The fun-filled concert introduces the instruments and their unique sounds, and the different roles of the conductor, concertmaster and musicians with surprises along the way.

This comprehensive program from the Weill Music Institute of Carnegie Hall provides instructional materials for students to learn to play the recorder, plus other music concepts, and culminates into a performance with the orchestra at The Fox Theater.

YOUNG MUSICIAN’S EDUCATION PROGRAM (YMEP)

In collaboration with Spokane school districts, the Spokane Symphony provides one-on-one instruction for students in classroom ensembles.

This helps supplement the teachers’ work and is especially helpful for orchestra teachers whose primary training focus is band or choir.

Guest Artist Master Classes

The Spokane Symphony’s guest artists lead master classes for advanced music students. Candidates, selected by audition, have the opportunity to work with renowned musicians. Master classes are free and open to the public, providing a fascinating glimpse into the instrument and guest artist’s personality.
