FEATURING INTERIOR DESIGNS BY SHELLY ROESER

A Letter from Shelly
I graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Communications—not interior design, which tends to surprise people. Interior design wasn’t necessarily the plan from the beginning, but I was drawn to it over time through a mix of interest and opportunity. I just found myself pulled toward the idea of creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also truly functional.
What really drives me is the balance between aesthetics and comfort. I’ve been in so many spaces that look great on the surface but don’t feel quite right. To me, design isn’t just about how a space looks, but how it feels and functions for the people who live in it.
Each space featured here is a reflection of thoughtful design, intentional selection, and a deep appreciation for how people live in their homes. I’ve included links to many of the selections throughout, so you can easily explore the pieces that help bring each room to life. My hope is that these designs inspire you to create a home that feels both beautiful and uniquely your own.

Signature Spaces
What drew me in was the ability to create spaces that are both beautiful and functional. Sometimes a room can look great on the surface, but it doesn’t feel good to be in. Like a gorgeous green couch that’s totally uncomfortable—you don’t want to nap on it. I believe design can and should be both aesthetically pleasing and livable.

Sinks + Faucets
People tend to check the box—‘just give me something gold’—but there are some incredible designs out there. A square sink, a round one, under-mounted or vessel—it totally changes the feel of a bathroom or kitchen. Sinks don’t shout at you like a bold light fixture does. But they elevate a space in this quiet, elegant way—and I love that.

Cabinets + Hardware
We’re moving away from the white oak obsession. Instead, I’m seeing a rise in darker wood tones—like cherry or walnut—things with more character and a moodier palette.

Bathrooms
Bathrooms need to work for real life. That means thoughtful storage: places for makeup, hair tools, medicines, linens. I don’t like clutter, so design should hide the everyday items while still feeling elevated.

Living Spaces
Primary bedrooms are so personal—our own retreats at the end of the day. Making those spaces beautiful, calming, and truly reflective of the person who lives there is really special.

Statement Pieces
A statement piece could be anything—from a quirky light fixture to a piece of found art. But you have to be careful. Too much and it competes with everything else. Too little and it gets lost. You don’t want to overwhelm or underwhelm. A good statement piece adds personality without shouting over the room.
curated
I love curating spaces with vintage or antique pieces—whether it’s barware from Goodwill or an old table with patina. It adds personality and comfort.
