T
he year started off well for the grade 11 class of 2012 as we embarked on a journey of knowledge. We attended the RADS Peer Support camp at Amanzi Game Lodge. We learnt how morals and attitudes affect our outlook on life, we were taught how to identify and assist peers with problems and much more knowledge on how to make our school better for everyone.
We ďŹ nally agreed to have a masquerade theme which was a huge success and the matrics enjoyed the night and tremendously appreciated the effort we put into organising it, but this would not have been possible without the more experienced and very imaginative minds of Mr Borchard and Mrs Miennie. Not only can we plan events but we are indeed the Einsteins of the 21st century.
With that we were very enthusiastic and this uniďŹ ed our class and brought about very optimistic mindsets. The only task left was to introduce this programme to our school and this was indeed done with a very successful RADS launch that took place, but all this would not have been possible without the helping hands of Mrs Speckmeier, Mrs Miennie, Mr Borchard, Mrs Bucibo and our Camp facilitators. We are a class full of laughter, an immense amount of energy and the potential to do anything we put our minds to.
This year we had Sonwabile Sigenue and Katiso Moeketsi who were chosen as the top 50 Science Students in the Free State. Lindiwe Kers also represented the class as she got the SANRAL Science bursary. Rethabile Thekiso and Jade Scott were chosen to represent the Free State Hockey team. At the beginning of the year 5 of our girls made the Inter CBC hockey team and Rethabile Thekiso came back with the S.A CBC representative tie. Seven of our boys made the Inter CBC Soccer team and Napo Modise, Ketso Nkholise, Khayalethu Mlonyeni and Kholisile Nyongwana were awarded S.A. CBC representative ties. We are also looking at a possible South African idol as Kgantshe Tau obtained an A for her Eisteddfod solo singing. During the year Katiso Moeketsi and Lindiwe Kers pursued their goals as future lawyers. They came 2nd in the Province and went on to Pretoria to represent the Free State at the National Moot Court. This is a very talented group who are going to make many proud in the near future.
We had the V-Bash which was also a great success even with its ups and downs. The rest of the school enjoyed this event and the money raised went for a good cause. We had many more projects as the year went by but the biggest one was the 2012 matric farewell which had a lot of quarrels and, being the group of 1995, every -decision made in our class had to be democratic. This decision making was a hard task that nobody looked forward to.
