With the blink of an eye, we came to the end of a very busy but exiting 3rd term. As you will notice in this issue of our Whaletails, the 3rd term was filled with very exiting activities: a concert, Grandparent’s Day, Spring Day (is spring really here?) and celebrating Heritage Day. In spite of all this, the curriculum continued full steam due to teachers and assistant’s creative planning and very hard work.They really know the art of how to balance everything in order to achieve success

Next month is Teacher Appreciation Month with World Teachers’ Day being celebrated on 05 October 2023.

Whilst most learners will be on holiday and only the aftercare open, children and parents won’t be able to show their appreciation for the important role that teachers play in our children’s lives. To all the amazing teachers of Hermanus Pre Primary / Aftercare, you are teachers with a passion to care, to love, to make a difference in children’s lives. The words on the beautiful picture that I received on my birthday are so true: “Our fingerprints don’t fade from the lives we touch”! I want to thank you for your hard work, commitment, and continued dedication

We have also shared a lot of very proud moments this term Congratulations to Michelle Swart She is in Rustenberg to compete in the South African Championships for Performing Arts during the week of the holiday We are anxiously awaiting the results and as we know her and her team, they always go for gold!!

Some of our aftercare children also excel in gymnastics. Anné Lingenfelder, Chloë Fredericks and Lilah Miller will represent Western Province at the South African Championships Well done girls!

Hul eerste konsertoptrede gehad op 24 Augustus 2023

Hulle het ook hul eerste lessie van hoenders en eiers gehad… Elke kindjie het ‘ n gekookte eier gekry om sy eie eier af te dop. Die maats het gesien hoe ‘ n eiertjie binne, ‘ en selfs buite die dop gaar word. Hulle het ook gesien hoe ‘ n eier lyk voor dit gaar gemaak word.

Hul eerste broodbak lessie

Die les was aangebied deur die assistente waar hulle kon sien hoe ‘ n mens deeg aanmaak om ‘ n brood te bak Nadat die brood gebak was, het die maats die geleentheid gekry om self botter, konfyt en kaas op hul sny brood te sit Hulle het dit baie geniet

Kuikens het ‘ n dag saam met ons skool gegaan ‘ n Hokkie was in die klas waar maats heeldag kon sien wat die kuikens doen en selfs luister na die geluidjies wat hulle maak

Nog ‘ n paar opwindende dae wat ons gevier het was, Ouma en oupa dag, die haelkorrels wat geval het en selfs ons Erfenisdag wat ons ‘ n groot Bokkedag van gemaak het

Dis so groot voorreg om te sien hoe die kleintjies groei en ontwikkel!

Die ontwikkeling van fynmotoriese vaardighede verg tyd en oefening Dit is ‘ n belangrike vaardigheid om aan te leer, want 70% van die take wat jou kind op skool sal moet verrig, vereis fynmotoriese vaardighede.

Wat is fynmotoriese vaardighede?

Dit is die beheer van die klein spiertjies van die lyf wat jou kind in staat stel om ‘ n verskeidenheid materiale en gereedskap akkuraat te beheer, hanteer en manipuleer. Die twee hande se spiertjies moet ook kan saamwerk, aangesien baie aktiwiteite twee hande vereis.

Hierdie is slegs ‘ n paar van al die aktiwiteite wat ons in die klas doen om fynmotoriese vaardighede te ontwikkel

Playing with various blocks like lego and wooden blocks, will help the child in the future when starting school. There are three main play types that are really important for the child

There is explorative play. This will give the child time to explore the blocks like the same shapes and colour. There is role play The child copies the real world They can choose to build a cake and pretend to have a birthday party.

There will be building play Ask the child to start assembling the blocks by building a tower. The child will continue to build and take them apart, which trains their motor skills and their cognitive skills This will enable them to build from small to a bigger build.

Vrydag 08 September was ons skool geseënd met ‘ n heerlike sonskyn dag, te midde van ‘ n paar baie onverwagste koue fronte. Gebede is vehoor want dit was:

“OUPA EN OUMA DAG!” EN ONS GAAN PIEKNIEK HOU”

In al die klasse is daar met groot opgewondenheid versierings gemaak, en spesiale plakate het oral by deure verskyn. Die klasse is so mooi versier, alles om net vir oupa en ouma te verseker hoe spesiaal en geliefd hulle is.

“Kleinkinders bring die vreugde in ‘ n Ouma en Oupa se harte ”

“As jy ‘ n kleinkind se hand vashou, is dit soms soos ‘ n stukkie van die hemel wat jy vashou.”

Menigte trane het gevloei as spesiale liedjies in die klasse gesing is en gediggies met oorgawe voorgedra is

Die opgewondenheid van die oupas en oumas was voelbaar. Gou is hulle betrek by verskeie aktiwiteite in die klas. Daar is koekies versier, handafdrukke is gemaak, fototjies is in raampies gesit wat kleinkinders saam met oupa en ouma versier het, ruikertjies is met tafels vol blomme gemaak en met blink ogies aan ouma gegee.

Daarna het almal ‘ n plekkie op die speelgronde gesoek en die heerlikste piekniek kos is uitgepak

Daar was byna nie ‘ n plekkie oop waar nie kampstoele en piekniek komberse was nie
