Lodge 47, Seaton youth hits grand slam; receives MVP

I was a little upset to have to miss camp. My favorite part of camp was the sleeping. My team had the opportunity to play in the NCS World Series in Portland, Texas. It was very hot playing on the turf fields. I was so excited I got my very first over the fence home run and to make it better, it was a grand slam! I got MVP for that game. I was so excited to text my mom who was chaperoning camp to show her my home run ball. My team placed second in 12u. Camdon Bartek, age 12 —SPJST—

Lodge 30, Taiton youth attend District Six YAD

Dear Vestnik Readers,

On Sunday, July 10, 2022, we held our District Six Youth Achievement Day at Taiton Community Center. We enjoyed a delicious barbecue burger and chips, and I also enjoyed socializing with my SPJST family. I placed first in pictorial arts, handicraft, and group talent. I received first place in teen merit points and top teen in District Six. I can’t wait to attend State YAD! Bethany Baker, age 15 —SPJST—

Lodge 30, Taiton youth wins first place in District Six YAD

Dear Readers,

On Sunday, July 10, 2022, we had our District Six YAD. It was a great day. I participated by making five different crafts and doing group talent. Our group talent placed first so we will be doing it again at the state competition. Also, I was so excited that I won first place with four of my crafts so I get to take them to state with me. It was fun to be able to have our YAD in person this year. We are headed to camp this week, and it will be my first time. I am so excited! Grady Lange, age 8 —SPJST—

Lodge 142, Houston Youth Club partners with Supply Bridge Ministries to collect, box, send 45 self-care boxes to victims of natural disasters

In May, Lodge 142, Houston Youth Club chose to work with Supply Bridge Ministries as the second quarter charity project. This program collects self-care items, including shampoo, deodorant, lotion, razors, and more, and boxes up the items to send to families who have been victims of natural disasters. With the generous donation from our adult lodge, the youth were able to send 45 boxes as well as extra donated items to this program and help out at least 45 different individuals who have lost their homes. Pictured above, the youth of Lodge 142 work in an assembly line to fold/make the boxes, fill the boxes with necessary items, and close them. The founder of Supply Bridge Ministries, Nick Doherty, who is a member of SPJST Lodge 196, Houston-West, is also pictured standing in the group photo. —Amanda Muzny, Youth Leader

Lodge 47, Seaton youth excited to attend SPJST summer camp

Dear Vestnik Readers,

After two years, I finally got to go back to camp! I had fun! My favorite part was the blob. We also got to see alpacas on the last night of camp. Andrew was my bunkmate.

This weekend, we are doing YAD. I hope I get first place on some things so I can go to State.

After YAD, we get to go to Galveston. I can’t wait!

This week, we are doing Ram Camp with our friends. It is where we play games and go swimming.

I guess I will see you in August. Fraternally Travis Ordogne, age 10 —SPJST—

Lodge 81, Needville Youth Club celebrates birthdays; welcome new members

Lodge 47, Seaton youth enjoys summer activities

Dear Vestnik Readers,

I can touch the bottom of the pool at eight-feet deep when I’m swimming. We are doing Ram Camp right now. We get to swim at Ram Camp every day. Today, I played Pickleball. It was superduper-stupor fun. Pickleball is the same thing as tennis. Instead of using tennis rackets, we use super-duper-bigger ping-pong paddles. I was super good at it. I was better than my brother.

I’m doing YAD this Sunday. I’m still working on my crafts. I hope I win something.

I went to Camp Kubena for the first time last week. It was fun! I can’t wait to go back!

See you at State YAD. Andrew Ordogne, age 7 —SPJST—

Dear Readers,

June was a very exciting month for us! In June, my brother Nathan and aunt Krystle both celebrated birthdays! Nathan is now five and ready for kindergarten and to be a full member of the youth club!

We also celebrated our new youth club transfers - Cheyenne, Tyler, and Kinsley Parker! We are so excited to have them join us! Our District YAD is coming up fast. It is July 16 at our Lodge 81, Needville! Hope everyone is ready!

Fraternally yours, Tripp Hargraves, age 9 —SPJST—

Dear Readers,

The youth of Lodge 84, Dallas continue to meet monthly. Our July meeting was very short because there wasn’t a lot to report on so Youth Leader Lynda reminded us to continue preparing for State Youth Achievement Day on Saturday, July 30, 2022, in Temple, Texas, at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic and Convention Center. She also asked us to continue submitting our Vestnik projects. Fraternally, Josh Tucker, age 12 —SPJST—

Lodge 202, Jourdanton youth inducted into NJHS

The end of my 2021-2022 school year was exciting. I was nominated and inducted into the National Junior Honor Society at Jourdanton Junior High School. This was not an easy task to accomplish. I was evaluated on my grades, behavior, volunteerism, and leadership skills. I can’t wait to see what all I get to do next year as a National Junior Honor Society member.
