In Memory of Carole Faraizl

Carole Annette Faraizl, age 79 of Garland, Texas, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022.

Visitation was Sunday, February 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rowlett with a rosary at 6 p.m. Funeral service was held Monday, February 28 at 9 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Garland. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett.

Carole was born March 29, 1942, in Dallas to George William Nemec, Sr. and Carolyn Theresa (Mahdak) Nemec. Carole attended Holy Trinity Grade School, Ursuline Academy High School, and Draughon’s Business College in Dallas. She married Raymond Richard Faraizl, Sr., December 29, 1962, in Dallas, and they moved to Garland in 1967 where they remained on Montclair Drive until present.

Beginning in the early 1960s, Carole worked in many jobs mostly in Dallas, retiring in August 2000 as legal secretary officed in Expressway Tower in Dallas. Her retirement years were spent documenting the times she shared with her husband and four children. Carol loved her family and was involved in their many activities, including traveling internationally, visiting museums, eating at her favorite restaurants, and attending many athletic events. She was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She touched the lives of many people through the years, and her presence will be deeply missed.

She was a longtime member of SPJST Lodge 84, Dallas.

Carole is survived by her husband of 59 years, Raymond Faraizl of Garland; sons Ray Faraizl Jr. of Dallas and Adam Faraizl of Seattle, Washington; daughters Renee Oberle and husband David of Forney and Mandy Faraizl of Dallas; siblings George Nemec Jr. of Irving, Margaret Holub of Mesquite, Ed Nemec and wife Krissi of Fruitvale, and Liz Opiela and husband Roger of Jefferson; grandchildren David Oberle and wife Brianna of Forney and Nicole Oberle of San Marcos; great-grandchild Rupert Oberle; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandparents John and Frances Mahdak and Charles and Frances Nemec.

In Memory of Jean Motl

Geroma “Jean” Motl, age 87, of Austin, Texas, departed her loving family on Monday, February 21, 2022.

She was born in Mount Ida, Arkansas, on February 17, 1935, and graduated from Mount Ida High School in 1953. Jean attended Draughon Business College in Springfield, Missouri, and graduated with a degree in Jean Motl accounting/bookkeeping in 1955. While attending business college, she attended her local Baptist church where she was baptized. She devoted her life to her husband and daughters, leaving her position as bookkeeper for Scott and White Hospital in Temple when her first child was born. She was a stay-at-home mother for many years until her daughters were grown. She then returned to work at JC Penney in Highland Mall for 22 years as manager of sales audit until her retirement.

Jean was an active member of SPJST Lodge 155, Austin, serving as treasurer for many years. It meant the world to her, to honor her husband Joe’s Czech heritage by belonging to SPJST. She was a member of Shady Oaks Garden Club for more than 50 years, serving in many capacities. Jean took great pride

in her yard, earning Yard-of-the-Month awards. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, raising cattle and making pets out of every one of them on the family farm in Liberty Hill. She was fearless when it came to handling longhorns and numerous breeds of cattle. She was an advanced seamstress, capable of creating anything, no matter how detailed. She loved quilting and made beautiful creations for all of her family to admire and enjoy. She adored her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, taking active interest in every aspect of each of their lives with more love than we could ever have asked for.

She was preceded in death by her mother Vida Vines of Austin.

She is survived by the love of her life - husband Joe Motl of Austin; and daughters MaryBeth DeLeon and husband Mike of Marble Falls and JoAnn Brack and husband Alan of Pflugerville.

She was “Memaw” to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Ashley Tullos and husband Kyle of Bertram, Ben Dodd of El Paso, Amy Eskew and husband Robert of Hutto, and Travis Brack and wife Hillary of San Antonio. Her greatgrandchildren are Kylie Tullos and husband Lance, Benjamin Dodd, Bethany Dodd, Nathan Tullos, Joy Eskew, Dean Eskew, and Eleanor Brack. —SPJST—

In Memory of Lucille Novak

Lucille Haverlah Novak passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 26, 2022. She was 90 years, four months, and three days of age. Because she believed in our Lord and Savior, we have assurance that she is home with the Lord, and all is well with her soul. No doubt she heard the words, “Welcome! Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Visitation was Saturday, March 5 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Vinyard Funeral Home in Poth. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 6 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Poth. Interment immediately fol-

lowed at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville. Lucille was born in Lenz, Texas, to Otto and Bertha Lieke on October 23, 1931, at her maternal grandma and grandpa’s house. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City. Lucille grew up on a farm during the depression, and she learned about hard work and how to stretch a dollar from an early age. She learned to cook, bake, can, garden, sew, and embroider. She even milked cows and picked cotton. Later, she learned to crochet, and it became her favorite pastime. Many people were the recipients of her talent especially her family. She made at least one blanket or afghan for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Lucille graduated from Kenedy High School and attended Texas Lutheran College for one year. She married Gene Haverlah on August 3, 1950. Lucille raised her five children and worked as an office manager for Gene. Later, she became a substitute teacher and loved being with the students. On May 17, 1986, Lucille married Thomas Novak, and they were married almost 30 years. Thomas and Lucille volunteered together and could be seen at the nursing home handing out newspapers and visiting with the residents every week. They loved to take gambling trips to Louisiana and became the organizers for bus trips. Lucille enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. Many nights of entertainment were spent playing 42 or poker. She also loved to dance, especially to polka bands. Lucille was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Poth. She was the church organist for more than 30 years. She taught vacation Bible school, Sunday school, and was in the choir. She was a member of VFW and American Legion where she was an officer and served as president and soloist. She was also a member of Hermann Sons and SPJST Lodge 107, Floresville. Lucille took classes in cake decorating and enjoyed making cakes for special occasions even wedding cakes. It Lucille Novak was a true labor of love. Lucille was in ill health for many years, but she just kept going. She trusted Jesus to carry her each day knowing that He had a perfect plan for her and that her time was in His hands. Lucille loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She delighted in each new addition to the family whether by birth or marriage. She will be missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Bertha Lieke; husband Thomas Novak; daughter-in-law Cindy Haverlah; stepson Benjamin Novak; stepson-in-law Mike Jaimes; and sister and brother-in-law Betty June and Rudolph Polasek.

Lucille is survived by children Vernon Charles Haverlah and wife Diana, Douglas Haverlah and wife Heidi, Katherine (Kathy) Haverlah Kolkhorst and husband Gary, David Haverlah, James Haverlah and wife Helen, Darla Novak Huffman and husband Patrick, and Martha Novak; grandchildren Jeffrey Haverlah and wife Sandra, Rebecca Haverlah Hyer and husband Josh, Michael Haverlah, Daniel Haverlah, Katie Haverlah Adkinson and husband Josh, Kevin Haverlah, Jenny Kolkhorst Sanchez and husband Tim, Chris Kolkhorst and wife Ann Marie, Mandy Kolkhorst, Megan Haverlah Anderson and husband Ryan, Sarah Haverlah, Kristy Anderson and fiancé Chane, and Ashley Anderson; great-grandchildren Christopher, Jesse, Kaitlin, Jeffrey Jr., and Jayden Haverlah, Zoe and Bria Haverlah, Makenzie and Madalyn Adkinson, Ryder, Eli, Colt, Walker, Campbell, and Palmer Sanchez, Coy and Cydney Kolkhorst, Christian, Josiah, and Jeremiah Anderson, Jacob and Elissa Segura, Kinley Serrata, Miranda and Makaylee Martinez, and Corbin Keeler; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers for Lucille were grandsons Daniel, Jeffery, Kevin, and Michael Haverlah, Chris Kolkhorst, Tim Sanchez, Josh Adkinson, Ryan Anderson, and Josh Hyer.

In Memory of Jimmy Wolf

Jimmy Alan Wolf, age 50, of Holland, Texas, passed from this life during the evening hours of Sunday, February 20, 2022, at his home.

Visitation was at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home in Temple on Saturday, February 26 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Jimmy was born on March 3, 1971, to parents Curtis Jimmy Wolf and Jewel Clark Wolf. He has been a resident of the Bell County area for all his life. As a kid, he loved to venture off to the creek bottom where he and his buddies would go varmint hunting. Throughout his younger years, he attended all his schoolings in Holland and later graduated from Holland High School in 1989. On June 20, 2014, he married Bryana Rauschenberg in Bell County. Jimmy enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors hunting and fishing. He has been a farmer for his entire life and loved anything agriculture. Jimmy loved his John Deere tractors, his collection of guns and knives, and making people laugh with his many practical jokes. He adored his grandbabies very much and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

He was a member of SPJST Lodge 80, Holland.

He was preceded in death by his father Curtis Wolf; and brother Ronnie Dean Wolf.

Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory wife Bryana Wolf; daughter Makenna Cosper; son Kord Huntley and wife Reaynna; son Paeton Huntley; brother Curtis Wayne Wolf and wife Linda; brother Darrell Wolf and wife Brenda; sister Carol Wolf; sister Paula Weir and husband Darrell; sister Connie Horak and husband Frank; grandchildren Karigan, Jamon, and Kaisen Huntley; nieces and nephews Randy Wolf, Brian Wolf and wife Sara, Tiffany Rodriguez and husband Louis, Brandy Dubec and husband Brandon, Dustin Weir, Wesley Weir, Jacob Horak, and Shelby Horak; and nine great-nieces and nephews. —SPJST—
