Lodge 4, Hallettsville Christmas party Dec. 12

Dear Members,

Lodge 4, Hallettsville will hold its annual Christmas party on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Vsetin Educational Building beginning with registration at 11:30 a.m.

A noon meal will be served consisting of fried chicken provided by the lodge with the members kindly asked to bring side dishes and desserts.

Our 50-year and 75-year members will be recognized.

Bingo will be played.

We hope to see you Sunday, December 12 for good food and entertainment.

Lodge 6, Cottonwood Christmas party Dec. 5

President Milton Peterson called the Lodge 6, Cottonwood meeting to order on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 2 p.m. The youth lead the Pledge of Allegiance and SPJST motto. A moment of silence was observed for the sick and deceased of the lodge.

Sister Barbara Hykel read the minutes from the last meeting.

Sister Peggy Dobecka gave the treasurer’s and youth reports. Sister Jeanette Beseda gave the fraternal report. Sympathy cards were sent to the families of Jimmy Uptmore, James Miller, Patty Dragoo, Tony Kubacek, Ron Suwner, David Mynar, John Rauschuber, Davie Adair, Eric Chudej, Kara Greener, and Bruce Gerik.

Attendance door prize winners were Jeanette Beseda, Irene Peterson, and Patty Rosales. November birthday was Milton Peterson. We hope he has a wonderful 80th birthday.

Christmas Meeting/Meal/Party December 5

The next meeting will be our Christmas meal and party on Sunday, December 5. The meeting will be at 2 p.m. A meal of turkey/dressing will be served at 4 p.m., and Santa Claus will arrive at 5 p.m. Everyone, please make plans to attend.

Lodge 23, Moravia holiday social Dec. 5

SPJST Lodge 23, Moravia will have its annual holiday social and meeting on Sunday, December 5, 2021, starting at 2 p.m. at the lodge hall.

Lodge 24, Cyclone reports on successful barbecue fundraiser

The Lodge 24, Cyclone meeting was called to order by President Daniel Wilde who led the Pledge of Allegiance and a silent prayer for our deceased members and our Veterans. Brenda Maddux read the minutes of the October meeting, and Linda Wilde gave the treasurer’s report.

Shirley Hoelscher presented the fraternal activities coordinator’s report. Scholarship applications are being accepted online at spjst.org until February 1, 2022. The Progressive 42 domino tournament will be at the Home Office on January 8, tarok tournament at the Home Office on February 5, straight domino tournament at the Home Office on March 5, and regular 42 domino tournament on April 2 at Camp Kubena.

We discussed the meal on October 31. We sold 700 plates, and we sold some chicken. President Wilde took some plates to Ronald McDonald House

Lodge 47, Seaton member Kennady Keith earns academic, volleyball honors

Congratulations to Kennady Lynn Keith of Lodge 47, Seaton! Kennady is excelling as an honor student and high school senior at Arlington Lamar High School. She is also an outstanding athlete.

Kennady is on the All A honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society. She is currently 38th out of 507 senior class members. She was recently recognized as a National Merit Scholar.

Kennady is a two-year letterman in volleyball and softball. Lamar Vikings recently advanced to the bi-district volleyball playoffs, and Kennady was awarded “6A First Team All Dis-

trict Setter” in volleyball. Her parents are Rick and Debbie Keith, and her brother is Trey Keith. Rick and Trey are also members of Lodge 47, Seaton. Kennady is the granddaughter of Ruth (Shenkir) Keith, who is also a member of Lodge 47, and Howard and Jean Stadel of Freeport, Illinois. Her greatKennady Keith grandparents are the late A.F. and Anna (Cabla) Shenkir, who were longtime members of Lodge 47, Seaton and who were responsible for the family’s membership in SPJST. —Submitted by Ruth F. Linda Wilde will accept reservations for the New Year’s Eve dance with Jerry Haisler and the Melody Five. She will also accept reservations for the Squeeze Box dance featuring Ted Lange and Mollie B on February 6, 2022.

President Wilde has the sign ready to erect. The sign is heavy and will be a job to put up. It will be at FM 485 and FM 964 in all its glory. The old sign will be taken down.

Our plan for new members did not work as we had envisioned.

Adjustments are being made.

We had great cooks at the pits and for the noodles, beans, and coleslaw. Lodge 29, Taylor Christmas meeting/party Dec. 5

On Wednesday, November 10, 2021, SPJST Lodge 29, Taylor met for its regular meeting. President Ronnie Rieger opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Ronnie asked for a few moments of silence to honor the departed Veterans and those presently serving our country. Officer roll call showed Tammy Cannon absent. Jesse was excused as he was attending the Lodge 177, Academy meeting. The October minutes were read and approved. Ronnie gave the treasurer’s report. Sharon Kaderka reported the members will collect for the 100 Pennies Scholarship Fund Drive at the December meeting, and Lodge 29 will match the amount collected. Sharon asked for recommendations as to who we could donate to for Christmas. Mary Jane Pustejovsky made a motion to donate $100 to the fire department for Toys for Tots. Charlie Campbell seconded, and the motion passed. Sharon also reminded everyone about the benefit we are having at the hall on Sunday, November 14. They are selling barbecue plates and having a silent auction, raffle, car show, and a band. It will be downstairs and outside on the grounds.

Ronnie recognized the Veterans in attendance and thanked them for their service. They were Frankie Pustejovsky, Leonard Kaderka, and Charlie Campbell.

Officer for 2022 were elected. All current officers were reelected. Jesse Pospisil was reelected to the Property Committee (2022-2024). The 2022 officers for Lodge 29 are:

Lodge 84, Dallas members share special bond

Lodge 84, Dallas members Charles Nemec and grandson Robert Richard Nemec have a special bond.

Charles joined the Army Reserves in September 1960 during his senior year of high school. After he graduated in June 1961, he went to Army Basic Training.

Robert (Bob) Richard joined the Army in December 2020 during his senior year of high school. After he graduated in June 2021, he went to Army Basic Training.

Robert’s Army Basic Training was exactly 60 years from when his grandfather went to Army Basic Training. They have lots of stories to share. No doubt, the family is very proud of both of them.

Property Committee members include Jesse Pospisil (2022-2024); Frankie Pustejovsky and Adolph Grieger (2020-2022), and Scott Kaderka and Mikey Girod (2021-2023).

Albin Machu signed up two new members—Vera Kathryn Elam and Abel Campos. Adolph Grieger made a motion to accept the new members, and Scott Kaderka seconded. The motion passed.

Members celebrating birthdays in November include Travis Franks, Elaine Machu, Michael Dewbre, Barbara Nygrin, Aaron Jezisek, and Sharon Beran.

Door prizes were furnished by Frankie and Mary Jane Pustejovsky and Ronnie and Lynn Rieger. Jesse and Linda Pospisil will donate door prizes in December.

Next Meeting—December 5

Lodge 32, Victoria Christmas party Dec. 7

Lodge 32, Victoria met for its bimonthly meeting on Thursday, November 11, 2021, which was Veterans Day. The lodge recognized Veterans at the meeting: Jimmy Otto, US Army Reserves; Richard Rasta, US Navy and US Air Force, a pilot in the Korean War who flew over the ocean looking for submarines; and Franklin Elles, US Army and US Air Force Reserves. We thank these and all Veterans for their service.

The lodge invites members to a Christmas party on Tuesday, December 7 at Red Lobster in Victoria at 6 p.m.

District Two Director Jesse Pospisil presents a $100 check from his discretionary fund to Lodge 80, Holland President Rita Spinn for Holland Volunteer Fire Department. The lodge also matched the donation.

Lodge 47, Seaton Christmas party Dec. 12

Dear Readers,

SPJST Lodge 47, Seaton will host its annual Christmas party on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Star Hall in Seaton. The afternoon will begin at 3 p.m. with a memorial candlelight service in memory of the lodge’s 2021 deceased members. The afternoon will continue with youth members of Lodge 47 presenting a Christmas program.

Lodge members who have reached their 50th or 75th year of membership at Lodge 47 will be recognized with receiving a membership pin in a ceremony to show our appreciation of your membership.

The afternoon will also include a visit from Santa, social hour, and a delicious turkey and dressing meal provided by the lodge. We will also recognize special guests, SPJST Executive Committee members, Lodge 47 Officers and Board Members, and the Fraternalist of the Year. Door prizes will be awarded.

We ask those attending, if you desire, to please bring a side dish or dessert for the meal. It will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Members,

Lodge 84, Dallas reports on November meeting

Dear Readers,

Members of Lodge 84, Dallas met on Sunday, November 14, 2021. The meeting was brought to order at 2:46 p.m. by Vice President Vicki Sims. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and a moment of silence was held for our departed members, those affected by the pandemic, and our troops serving our country. Secretary Cherri Petr read the minutes from October which were accepted by all after a few minor corrections. Secretary Cherri then read the correspondence received.

Vice President Vicki Sims gave the youth report in the absence of Youth Leader Lynda Novak. She then gave the Fraternal Council and Czech Culture reports.

Fraternal Activities Coordinator Vicki Sims reported on an online program “Christmas Carols in Czech” offered on Saturdays through December at 9 a.m. Send an email to schulenburgpubliclibrary@yahoo.com for more information, or see the article on page 19 of this week’s Vestnik. Vicki also mentioned about a live performance of The Bartered Bride that will be held on Saturday, November 21 at Sokol Dallas. Doors open at 12 noon with lunch available from 12 to 1 p.m. and the show starting at 1:30 p.m.

New and old business was then discussed. Our slate of officers was selected for 2022, and our monthly meeting dates were set up for February through April.

Treasurer Jim Liska then presented his report.

Before adjourning, Vice President Vicki thanked everyone for coming to the meeting. She wished everyone a happy Thanksgiving and said she hoped to see everyone at the Christmas party on Sunday, December 5.

Lodge 84, Dallas Christmas party Dec. 5

Dear Readers,

Just a reminder that this year, SPJST Lodge 84, Dallas is joining with KJT Society No. 111, KJZT Society No. 108, and WFLA Lodge 401 to host a Christmas party to celebrate the holiday season! Please plan to join us for some great food, music, and holiday cheer with good friends.

The party will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Sokol Dallas, located at 7448 Greenville Avenue in Dallas, Texas 75231.

Schedule for the day includes:

10:30 a.m. - Doors open 11 a.m. - Mass 12 to 1 p.m. - Social hour 12 to 12:30 p.m. - Visit from Santa (SPJST youth, please contact Lynda Novak at 972-948-4456 to RSVP so Santa knows you will be there!) 1 to 2 p.m. - Lunch 2 to 5 p.m. - Music for your listening and dancing pleasure provided by the Czech Harvesters

Additionally, there will be a food bank canned good collection. Please be generous by bringing unexpired/nondented canned goods to donate.

There will also be a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, and a KJZT prize drawing. Be sure and look for them to enter!

Lodge 154, fort worth member mary schneider celebrates 98th birthday

Lodge 154, Fort Worth member Mary (Krupka) Schneider was surprised with a yard full of Lodge 154 friends and Sokol members for her 98th birthday on October 21, 2021. Mary was born October 21, 1923, She also learned how to play cards for the first time. We have missed her through the year of virus restrictions. Mary looked great with her pink crown in her hair of “Happy Birthday” wishes. We received a sweet and thoughtful note from her: “Another year and another precious gathering of great people that wished me a ‘Happy Birthday.’ Thank you for coming and for all the greetings, birthday signs, and balloons. Lodge 151, Wharton Christmas social Dec. 13

SPJST Lodge 151, Wharton will hold its Christmas social and quarterly meeting on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Wharton Depot Museum, located at 100 Sunset Street.

A catered turkey and dressing meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. Please RSVP by Friday, December 3 to Carolyn Bucek at 979-532-1910 if you plan to attend so we can let our caterer know how much food to prepare. Members will furnish the desserts.

Lodge 189 Bryan-College Station Christmas dinner Dec. 12

Lodge 189, Bryan-College Station invites their members and guests to their December meeting and annual Christmas dinner on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 12 noon at C&J Barbecue, located at 1010 South Texas Avenue in Bryan.

Lodge 200 Bruceville-Eddy hosts successful pancake supper

Members of SPJST Lodge 200, Bruceville-Eddy met for their October meeting. After enjoying a meal, President James R. Hosch called the meeting to order with members reciting the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence. The minutes, treasurer, and FAC reports were then read and approved followed by birthday announcements. Next, Lodge 200 presented a check to Bruceville-Eddy Fire Department Chief Ron Engelke, who was a guest along with wife Yvonne.

Old business was discussed followed by new business, which included the upcoming Veterans’ Day pancake supper (which was a success), Christmas party, and election of officers, after which the meeting was adjourned.
