Tom Kennedy has over 40 years experience as a photojournalist, feature writer and editor. His photographic work has appeared in numerous publications, and he has produced a series on the science and folklore of wild plants. He was editor of Technology Ireland and a founding publisher of the popular Science Spin magazine.

The Source Photographic Archives

Since the 1970s this picture collection has continued to expand as a resource for editors, authors and publishers. The library has several themed sections, including Ireland, Dublin, native wild plants, natural forms, thematic images, and West of Ireland Wynne photographs from the end of the 19th century.

Some photographic highlights • First solo exhibition of photographs at the Museum TCD in association with the Dublin Arts Festival 1972.

• Founder of Source Photographic Archives, 1974, a picture bank established with a group of freelance press, documentary and creative photographers.

• In 1977 established the Source Gallery in Henrietta Street, Dublin with an opening exhibition by the pioneering photographer, Felix Mann. During its short existence work by several photographers including Fergus Bourke, Rod Tuach, Robin Weaver, and Robert Ashby was exhibited.

• In 1982 Inside Ireland, a collection of Tom Kennedy’s photographs with Eilís Dillon’s text was published by Hodder and Stoughton.
