Spilbræt.dk is a Nordic board game distributor.
Here, our love of board games is hard to miss, the colorful, angular boxes within view of every square inch of our office building. Time is the most precious thing we have – so the games we surround ourselves with should be as precious as, if not more than, our time.
There’s much to love about board games. They serve as avenues for play, as safe spaces for pushing boundaries and as catalysts for intimacy. Where else, in a digital world of screens constantly on the go, do you get to unwind and have that most analogue of experiences; eye contact?
A good board game doesn’t collect dust – it creates memories. Memories of cozy Sunday afternoons with a significant other. Memories of drinks, good times and raunchy nights on the town. Memories of small gatherings of friends meeting for a singular purpose; to play. Cards come in six different types of veggies, and the back of each card has a different scoring method. So for instance, one scoring method may award 2 points for every carrot you have, but deduct a point for every onion. Fauna – just how much do you know about animals? Whereas other trivia-type games will have you know one single fact about a given subject, Fauna requires its players to have a breadth of knowledge of the 360 different animals included in the game by having them try to guess the animal’s weight, length, height, tail length and the areas in which the animal lives on Earth.
Players each have a number of ‘guess cubes’ to use on each animal. If you guess -somewhat – correctly, you get the cube back for use on a subsequent turn. But if you’re way off, you lose the cube!

On your turn, you may stop revealing poker chips, thereby ending your turn and netting you fewer points, or you may keep revealing poker chips to score yet more points. But if you reveal similar poker chips to ones already revealed, you don’t get to score anything – so it is a constant balance between risk and reward!
