COLLEGE HILL RECREATION CENTER
COLLEGE HILL, CINCINNATI
College Hill Recreation Center is one of Cincinnati’s many recreation centers. The College Hill Recreation Center had a space designated for teens that were not very functional for the teens’ daily needs. There were two focuses for this project, the lobby, and the media room. The center asked CRC to help gather precedent images to show the teens and gather feedback. As a team, we prepared for the first engagement session with the teens after school. In that meeting, we were able to get an understanding of what in the space was working, what was not working, and what they would like to see in the future. Following that meeting, together we brainstormed and prepared for the second engagement session. This session was focused on room layout, we prepared an activity that allowed the student to pick and place furniture in the spaces. After this second meeting, we had a better idea of what furniture they would like to see in the media room and lobby space. The final steps were to look at what funds were available for the project and what can be done in these spaces.

As mentioned on the previous page, we conducted two engagement sessions with the teens at the center. The first two images are from the second engagement session when the teens placed furniture pieces in the room depicting how they would like them to be designed.

The third image, on the right, shows the display board left at the center for members to vote on. These layouts were put together following the second engagement session when we were able to gather a better understanding of how the teens envision these spaces to be used/layout. From there we created two different layouts for each space, each one a bit different. Included in these boards is a materials board, the board shows textiles that could be placed on the walls, paint swatches, and photographs.

SLOW THE CARS NORTHBROOK, CINCINNATI
Northbrook is a neighborhood located on the outskirts of Cincinnati, within Hamilton County. There are about 11,000 residents within the community. The City came to Urban Fast Forward looking for ways to beautify their neighborhood as well as looking for ways to improve resident’s everyday life.
As a team we hosted community engagement sessions, these sessions involved speaking to residents, board members, and business owners. Following the sessions, UFF gathered information and created a list of recommendations to provide to the Northbrook community. At the same time, we were working on a comprehensive plan for the community, and the recommendation list was included in the overall plan.
The following page displays challenges focused on in the plan.
