Cleo Smith - 4 year old missing for 18 days Cleo Smith’s family was on vacation on the 16th of October in the Quobba Blowholes camping ground when she went missing between 1:30 and 6:00 in the morning. When her mother got up the next morning, she noticed that the tent’s entrance was open and that Cleo was missing. She was certain that Cleo would not have gotten out of the tent on her own. A search operation that covered land, sea, and air of over 100 officers was launched to search for Cleo. Detectives have stated that there was a lot of evidence and testimonies to go through. They started by asking about the things that happened that night to nearby campers, collected information on the ones who were at the campsite that night, and checked whereabouts on registered sex offenders in the area. 1 million Australian dollars was offered to anyone who could give information on Cleo’s whereabouts, but police stated that it did not do much. The police did not reveal any more information on how they continued their investigation, but found evidence which led to a house in Carnarvon, where they broke into, during the early hours 18 days after Cleo was reported missing. Cleo was found in one of the rooms, where one of the officers asked her for her name. “My name is Cleo,” she said. She was reported to still be alive and well, even after the 18 days she was missing. A 36 year old man was detained and was charged for forcefully taking a child under the age of 16.

Cleo was sent to the hospital for check up, and was reported to be “physically okay”, and did not seem to display abnormal behavior. Despite the long amount of time she had been missing, people were relieved to see her unharmed.

China's recent covid outbreak The delta variant of Covid 19 has started its outbreak once again in China. The port city alone has reported over 200 cases in 2 weeks, and DaLian reported 52 symptomatic cases. New local cases have been reported and most of them were from provinces like Liaoning and Henan. Mainland China has also reported over 93,000 new cases as of November 7. This outbreak has also caused panic buying, with people flooding grocery stores and some reported taking more than 2 hours to have their items checked out, just like how it was in the very beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

Because of this Delta outbreak, China would have to start initiating lockdowns again, such as one of the universities, leaving certain students trapped in their dorms, and some of the citizens reportedly being isolated in DisneyLand.

Japan has Started to Reopen its Border Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, countries from all over the world have closed their borders that disables foreign visitors from coming to their country. This was a compulsory and needed regulation as an initiative to reduce the COVID-19 cases. In the first week of November 2021, the Japanese government had publicly announced that Japan will start to reopen borders for international students and business workers starting in the second week of November. This is such delightful news for many as over 300,000 people are waiting to enter the country, and almost half of them are international students. - While the border has been reopened, they still need to follow several restrictions for infection prevention. Here are the restrictions and regulations: They need to actively report to relevant regulators, such as the industry, education, or farm ministries. They need to do self-isolation for ten days and a minimum of 3 days for business workers. - However, tourists are still not allowed to enter Japan. The government will examine the efficacy of the measures and make changes based on it, whether to reduce or expand the scope of the restriction. https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Coronavirus/Japan-to-reopenborders-starting-Monday2

To those who don’t know, the Thomas cup is an international men's badminton competition played amongst teams that are representing national members of the Badminton World Federation. Meanwhile, the Uber cup is an International women's badminton competition. Back on October 9th, the journey to bring back the Thomas Cup trophy began. The last time Indonesia had its hand on the Thomas Cup was 19 years ago. This time, however, Indonesia had a good winning streak. They won against China a few times who were also known as former champions of the Thomas Cup. Fortunately, this year Indonesia claimed victory after Jonathan Christie won the last game playing against Li Shi Feng. Ofcourse we can’t just celebrate the victory because of Jonathan, there are other players who also worked hard this season including Anthony Ginting, Fajar Alfian, and Muhammad Rian Ardianto. This became one of the big victories that happened this year for Indonesia. Though, sadly, on the other hand, at the Uber cup, Indonesia wasn’t able to secure a spot at the semi finals, yet we can’t forget to appreciate the players who did their best in representing Indonesia, like Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Greysia Polii, and Apriyani Rahayu. Just because they couldn’t place a win in this year’s Uber Cup, doesn’t mean it's the end of everything.
