‘Indian Navy is evolving into a versatile and potent force, capable of a variety of operations ranging from coastal security to blue-water operations’ A navigation and direction specialist, Vice Admiral R.K. Dhowan took over as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS) on August 31, 2011. In an interview with SP’s Naval Forces, he informed that efforts are under way to provide further impetus to the indigenisation process across the entire canvas of acquisition. 5/2012
