Just like that, the new SPE term has officially kicked off! I’m really excited about what this new Board of Directors will be able to accomplish over the next eight months. The Board is made of up a passionate group of volunteers highlighted on the upcoming pages. Hopefully you see some familiar faces, especially a er our kick-off social the other week at The Waystone. Shout out to our Programs Chair, Andrea Switzer, for planning an awesome first event!
If you were not able to make it, no worries because we have plenty of opportuni es to get plugged in this month. On the technical luncheon front, Richard Brantley, SVP of Opera ons at University Lands, will be presen ng on the History of Santa Rita #1. Addi onally, all four SPE Study Groups are up and running with upcoming comple ons, produc on, reservoir, and data analy cs focused discussions.
The SPE Permian Basin Chapter’s Signature Golf Tournament is on Friday, September 8th. Be sure to register if you haven’t already. This is one of the Chapter’s main fundraisers and largely determines the amount of scholarship we’re able to award students in the Spring. Our Golf Tournament Chair, Jeane e Reyes, and her team have been working diligently for months to put on this event. This isn’t their first rodeo, so you don’t want to miss it.

September is one of my favorite months of the year because university recruitment is in full swing and SEC football starts back up, which means numerous excuses to travel back to my alma mater, LSU, in Baton Rouge.
As we enter back-to-school season, I highly encourage you to a end one of SPE’s upcoming opportuni es to engage with a college student interested in pursuing a career in the oil and gas industry. Let’s be real – we all would not be here if it wasn’t for that one rela ve, mentor, professor, or upper classman that showed us the ropes. Someone helped you along the way, whether you received feedback on your resume, interview and career fair naviga on ps, or internship advice. We are fortunate to support two tremendous SPE Student Chapters, both in our backyard – Texas Tech University and The University of Texas Permian Basin. We have several opportuni es to give back so please peruse the calendar on the preceding page and make me for one.
