TEARS OF ISRAEL

October 7, 2023 – The day their lives changed.

4,300 rockets were fired at Israel. Terrorists crossed the border, killing civilians in their homes, attacking military bases, and murdering young people who came to dance at the Nova Festival.

Kibbutz after kibbutz, village after village…

In the end, the attack caused more than 1,188 deaths and injured 4,834 people. 251 hostages, including children, were taken by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. After negotiations, 192 hostages were released.

Since March 2024, I’ve made four trips to Israel to see with my own eyes the impact of the attacks on the country and its people.

This event had a significant impact on all jews around the world. I went to the places where the fighting happened, and even though it was hard to get access, I was able to speak with the families of hostages and with former hostages, trying to show their truth through my photographs.

With these photographs, I want to capture the memory of an event that, even if lived differently by each person, deeply marked those who went through it, and to show how a society deals with tragedy and tries to rebuild.
