ANOUK FLESCH Documentary and Photojournalism 32 weeks program, 2020

Le Guépard blanc Timothée Adolphe, 400m world champion, is blind since the age of 17. The high level French Paralympic athlete, nicknamed Guépard Blanc (engl. White Cheetah), depends on a relationship of trust with his guides who accompany him throughout his training sessions and competitions. This series reports an athlete‘s behind-the-scenes preparation for the Paralympic Games.

He is supervised by his guides, who are able-bodied professional athletes, and his personal trainer who is at his side during his daily training sessions on the INSEP (Institut National du Sport, de l‘Expertise et de la Performance) campus in Paris. This international Olympic and Paralympic training centre prepares athletes in a professional environment by providing sports facilities as well as medical access and accommodation for stationary athletes such as Timothée.

Sport, for many people, provides a social aspect in their daily life. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, many people practiced it in sport clubs or with friends. Due to the lockdown, joint training was forbidden, competitions were canceled and public facilities were closed.

In Luxembourg; however, it was still possible to practice outdoor sports, whether alone or with a person from the same household. Accordingly, many residents took the opportunity to give their everyday life the structure that they lacked during this time of uncertainty.

Exercising in the fresh air gave them a sense of freedom.

I am a 23 year old Luxembourgish photographer based in Paris, with a special focus on portraits and sports photography.

My daily inspirations to create photographic series are the arts and human movement.

Since I started my photography studies in 2017 at MJM Graphic Design in Rennes (France), I have been working as a freelance photographer for newspapers in Luxembourg. I am currently studying â&#x20AC;&#x17E;photo reportageâ&#x20AC;&#x153; at Speos Photographic Institute, Paris.
