Road Block emerges as supreme in inaugural virtual show

Black Stump 01B Road Block R12 stamped his dominance in the line-up at the first Speckle Park Virtual Show in October by being sashed supreme champion exhibit.

The 14-month-old bull was exhibited by Black Stump Speckle Park and grabbed the attention of online judge Jack Laurie, Breeder Genetics.

“Overall, I was impressed with the depth and volume across the individuals, putting out what the Speckle Park breed is known for consistently strong topped cattle with a lot of performance and volume,” Mr Laurie said.

He said Road Block had an overall balanced phenotype with sire appeal and body length, awarding the bull champion and grand champion male.

“He is second to none with the testicular development, free moving, exhibits plenty of strength along the top and spine and he will be a bull we will see a lot of.” Grand champion female went to five-year-old Wellerlou Speckle Park with EBH M32 after winning the class female 24 months and older.

“This female represents an overall functional cow – beautiful on the move and beautiful through the front end, there is so much power and overall performance behind this female,” Mr Laurie said.

“She has overall depth of body and capacity and is holding herself beautifully through the hip and pins.”

Champion female was Kamarah Majestic M32 exhibited by Wellerlou.

There was just seven votes in it but the winner of the People’s Choice award was Ewyn 1B Sassafras R29 exhibited by Ewyn Speckle Park stud. The virtual show encouraged members to get out with their cattle during COVID lockdown, with $250 awarded to the supreme exhibit.
