THE YEAR OF THE SNAKE
Snakes are a symbol of renewal, growth, wisdom, intelligence, and intuition.
As we move forward into the year, we’re taking time to design with intention, trust our intuitions, and let us be inspired by the transformative beauty around us.

FOLK PRESERVATION
While climate change ravages areas of the US, we yearn to reconnect broken communities while finding ways to defend and adapt folk traditions for an uncertain future. We’re seeing this translate to high quality materials with bespoke craftsmanship like cottos, breezeblocks, and morroccan zellige with the dominance of warm neutrals continuing for 2025. Sustainability is achieved with permanence: Specifiers are choosing products that will withstand the test of time versus fads that need refresh every few years.
Ancient wellbeing practices like apothecary and adaptogens are trending upwards as we all look to reduce stress and find harmony with work-life balance. Materials in this trend lack harsh, sharp lines and feel holistic in nature.

COLOR MAPPING
Anchored by the Pantone Color of The Year, Mocha Mousse, this trend calls for natural clay colors with a surprising nod of support from amethyst tones that draw a more spiritual element to this earthy palette.

PASTORAL
As we prepare to fight the challenges of overconsumption, the digital dark age, and the fading of third spaces, pastoral searches for an abstract greater good for society. While sustainability efforts usually mean deprivation (buy less, eat less, make less), the messaging is challenged by the inspiration to create something long lasting and familiar.
This ethos extends into design trends like the resurgence of natural greens, reminiscent of lush avocado hues. These tones evoke calm and renewal, a perfect complement to the movement toward hyper-personalization. Spaces are becoming deeply reflective of individual identities, with libraries and hobby corners doubling as intimate sanctuaries. We’re also seeing a resurgence in the desire to own physical media, such as books and records.

COLOR MAPPING
From bee pollen to rolling green pastures, colors are directly drawn from the natural world around us. Rather than the earthy neutrals like in folk preservation, the colors here highlight the fun and poppy moments of our world.

CURATED MAXIMALISM
In an era where soft, organic modern spaces have reigned supreme, a bold counter-movement is emerging as curated maximalism. As a rejection to the overly-planned and static, this trend unapologetically celebrates abundance, texture, and storytelling.
In spite of a generalized more is more ideology, this is a story that inspires slow consumption by encouraging an intentional approach to selections that are meaningful and long-lasting. It’s about surrounding yourself with the things you love and making them work together in a way that feels uniquely you.

COLOR MAPPING
Color takes center stage here. Jewel tones—emerald green, sharp shades of blue, and bright oranges and yellow —create a sense of richness, while daring prints and clashing patterns challenge the eye and invite curiosity.

ARTFUL INTELLIGENCE
Its no secret that artificial intelligence and the transformative power of technology are becoming more significant in our every day lives. The lines between human artistry and machine ingenuity are being redefined, and the paradigm shift is being felt daily. As we expand the dialogue between humans and algorithms, we seek to learn how technology and nature can complement one another.
Smart cities, generative design, and connected living are cornerstones to this trend. Sleek, sophisticated spaces with intentionally minimlaist decor play in to the overarching theme of stealth wealth. Luxury lies in sustainable, high-quality materials, defined by understated elegance.

COLOR MAPPING
This story tends to shy away from bold and bright colors, instead giving the chance for cool, subdued tones to take center stage: a stark turn from the former ostentatious whites and golds that previously dominated the definition of luxury.

COSMIC ESCAPISM
Nobody wants to be left behind in the new Space Race as we all seek to capitalize on the lucrative lunar economy. New technology is opening up a world of possibilities for space tourism, otherworldly minerals and a plan B if our own big blue marble can’t heal from the impacts of climate change.
Though colonizing new worlds is far off, we’re already channeling cosmic inspiration into design. Many concepts are incorporating circles, which feel similar to the planets we wish to one day reach. They represent a balance between the sun, the moon, and other celestial bodies.
Other notable features of this trend include fluid movement in stone, elements of glass and reflective metals, and astral shapes as we embrace the infinite possibilities of the universe.
