Trophy Cupcakes founder Jennifer Shea said expanding her business is a delicate dance. While she’s been courted about growing outside the Seattle area, she said staying local allows her to maintain quality while not putting a strain on her team. She found her new Queen Anne shop

space while browsing commercial real estate sites. “It’s almost like people who are always looking on Zillow for new houses,” Shea said. Unlike her other five Trophy Cupcake locations, the Queen Anne shop is smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood, where Aegis Living once ran a Queen Bee Café at 223 W. Galer St.

“The space, when it presented itself, it just felt like a slam dunk,” Shea said. Having mostly been built out, it only took three weeks to change the space to Trophy Cupcakes colors, put in a cupcake case and make a few other slight modifications. Washington 36th District House candidate Liz Berry launched her campaign after spending the past month earning endorsements from progressive Seattle councilmembers and state legislators. Having spent part of her career helping to get women on the Legislature while president of the National
