n Stroll the uptown Art Walk — Every third Thursday starting May of 2015 thru November, view eclectic art from local artists some just starting out as well as featured established artists. More information on page 40.

n Take in the emP experience — EMP is a leading-edge, nonprofit museum, dedicated to the ideas and risk-taking that fuel contemporary popular culture. With its roots in rock ‘n’ roll, EMP serves as a gateway museum, reaching multigenerational audiences through our collections, exhibitions, and educational programs, using interactive technologies to engage and empower our visitors. At EMP, artists, audiences and ideas converge, bringing understanding, interpretation, and scholarship to the popular culture of our time.

n Call it a day and get yourself a pint — The Paragon Bar and Grill at 2125 Queen Anne Ave. N. may just be the ideal place on the hill to just exhale and tip a pint of good beer. It’s both lively and easy going and ultra friendly. The menu is several steps above pub food without the expense and there’s always live music. www.paragonseattle.com. Just a few steps to the north is the Hilltop Ale House. The HAH serves a wide variety of microbrews and unique cocktails. Old-school classics down the hill are Jabu’s (174 Roy St.) and McMenamin’s (200 Roy St.) Quiet, classic, not stuffy, not frat at all.

n run the Crown of Queen Anne Fun run — for 30 years the fun Run has brought Queen Anne together like no other neighborhood event. The 3.3-mile jaunt around the rim of upper Queen Anne takes most runners less than an hour. But winning it isn’t as important as being in it. As we approach our 41st year, SIff continues to create experiences that bring people together to discover extraordinary films from around the world. Recognized as one of the top film festivals in N America, the Seattle International film festival (May 14-June 7) is the largest, most highly attended film festival in

n Get married — There are churches, parks and rose gardens everywhere, but few have a view that can match Queen Anne. Kerry Park in particular would be ideal for a visually stunning wedding, and even more intimate would be the Betty Bowen Viewpoint/Marshall Park along Highland Drive and neighboring Parsons Garden where views of the sound abound.

n Get your picture taken at Kerry Park

— Perhaps Queen Anne’s greatest offering is its views. The panoramic view of Seattle’s skyline is unparalleled, particularly from Kerry Park. Even if you live in Queen Anne and drive by Kerry Park every day you should stop and get your picture taken - maybe from inside Doris Chase’s “Changing form” sculpture.

Over the years local businesses have chipped in to support these festive and fantastic trees and the Chamber paid any costs not covered by donations, often as much as several thousand dollars per year. Unfortunately, we no longer have the budget to underwrite the cost of the holiday trees.

To keep this beloved holiday tree-dition alive, the Chamber has created a tree-mendous new community program.

The holiday magic Tree Keepers Program gives Queen Anne businesses and residents the opportunity to showcase their community spirit by sponsoring and saving a holiday tree.

In November of 2014 the community and local businesses, with a monetary sponsorship from Upper Queen Anne Union Bank, paid a substantial portion of the Tree Lighting costs. Many thanks to our generous Neighbors and Businesses who participated in the keeping the Tree-dition of the Lights.

We are looking at starting up again in July. Time to sponsor the Tree-dition so please put it on your calendar.

people from The Vera Project, SIff, The MarQueen Hotel, BECU Café Ladro, and the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce joined together to put into motion an eclectic compilation of art walk, calling this The uptown Art Walk. The goal was to provide local well known artists and young budding artists a venue to display their art in the uptown businesses.

Throughout the year, this grew to encompass people from all walks of life, a real estate broker, the local market, a university student, restaurant server, a local company making maps for the neighborhoods in and around Seattle, computer designers, and engineers ready to volunteer to hang banners. The year brought together the love of art shown in Uptown businesses and a sense of community along with pride in the artist’s talent.

The 2015 season will be launched April 23rd with a Premier Social Event, Hosted by Homewood Suites with complimentary wine and beer, Hors de’ Oeuvres, a silent auction and live music. (By invitation only)

May 2015 starts the beginning of the monthly art walk, our first one being an artist Bazaar *(This being a more centralized walk due to inclement weather).

The uptown Art Walk will be the Third Thursday from may through november, 2015
