FLORIADE 2022

DISCOVER FLORIADE THE ONCE-IN-A-DECADE HORTICULTURAL HIGHLIGHT

All the staying home over the past year has meant missing out on seasonal highlights. If, like us, you squealed with delight when the first green shoots of spring made an appearance or you felt a sense of pride as your vegetable garden produced a modest bounty, you’ll at least have enjoyed a taste of the great outdoors – but haven’t you missed admiring the work of the professionals? That’s right, we’re talking about those big events – those celebrated festivals and flower shows – where you stand and gaze in awe at the skill and design on display. Well, luckily for us, 2022 will play host to something rather special over in the Netherlands. If you’re looking for something a bit different when you head off on holiday next year, why not treat yourself to one of our many Floriade itineraries and experience this once-in-a-decade horticultural highlight in all its blooming glory. Held just once every ten years at a different venue in the Netherlands, Floriade is one of the premier events of the horticultural world. In 2022, the spotlight falls on Almere, near Amsterdam, where a purpose-built site has been specially created to provide a ‘living laboratory’ with inspirational and innovative exhibitions by countries, cities and businesses. There will be a host of impressive attractions, heaps of art and culture, and a unique collection of trees, shrubs and flowers on display. The theme of this upcoming expo – its seventh iteration – is ‘Growing Green Cities’. With the world’s urban population expanding to 70%, cities will have to find creative, green and sustainable solutions to remain safe, healthy and attractive, and the proposed solutions will be central to the exhibits at the 2022 Floriade Expo. We do hope you are able to join us on one of our tours visiting this horticultural delight. Alison Wilson Managing Director
