Welcome to your Dream Challenges 2022 brochure! After two years stuck at home, it’s time to see the world again. We have an awesome variety of challenges for you to take on all across the globe.

Ever wanted to explore the amazing Amazon Rainforest or trek the ancient Inca Trail in Peru? How about trekking to Everest Base Camp or taking it to two wheels and cycling from Kili to the coast?

If you’re more of a snow bunny than a sun seeker, we’ve got you covered there too!

See nature at its most dramatic and discover the lava crossings, glacial streams and the bucket-list Blue Lagoon of Iceland. Or join us in Canada to experience the idyllic hiking trails the Rockies are renowned for. We’ll also experience the best of Ibiza by bike and explore the three capitals of Russia, as we ride from Moscow to St Petersburg.

on life whilst immersing yourself in a new environment will improve your immediate happiness and will likely have a long-term positive effect on your emotional and mental health.

You don’t have to organise anything.

There’s no need to plot your own routes, research flights, visas and travel insurance - because we do it all for you. We even send you a kit list and a training schedule - honestly, we think of everything!

You’re never alone, even if you sign up solo. But you’re pretty much guaranteed to finish the challenge with a bunch of amazing new friends you otherwise would never have met.

Most of our challenges are Open Challenges, which means you choose how you fund your adventure.

You can self-fund and pay the challenge costs yourself without the pressure of a minimum sponsorship target; or you can choose sponsorship and commit to raising a minimum amount for your chosen charity.

It's your chance to do something amazing for the cause closest to your heart; whether you choose to support your local hospice or animal sanctuary or a national charity. It's completely up to you.

We make certain the animal sanctuaries we visit are legitimate and prioritise the animals’ wellbeing and happiness.

We employ local ground handlers, porters and support team-members.

We choose comfortable, local accommodation.

We arrange to visit and partner with local charities.

ARE YOU A CHARITY? We can work with you on a bespoke challenge tailored to your charity and exclusively in support of your valuable cause; or we can list your charity on our website and encourage participants to raise funds for your cause on one of the open challenges you can see in this brochure.

Open Challenges – Open challenges are a sure-fire way to attract fearless, committed fundraisers to your charity.

Our ‘Open Challengers’ have, between them, raised millions of pounds for charities of their choice. We have events for all abilities and support everyone who joins us in doing their personal best. Promote our challenges to your followers and fundraisers, and we’ll do the rest.

You’ll notice that participants can choose to self fund their challenge costs so 100% of the funds they raise will go directly to your cause.

Alternatively, they can commit to a minimum sponsorship target, which amounts to twice the price of their challenge. You would then use half this money to pay for their challenge and the remaining money, plus anything over the minimum target, would then go directly towards your work.

We understand that not all charities are happy to offer the sponsorship option and you’re more than welcome to simply offer the self funding option.

HAVE AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE CONTROL AS YOU WANT Choose where you want to go, how many participants to involve, which activities to include and how long the challenge will last. Our life changing Dream Challenges have awesome fundraising potential for your charity. We have run a variety of amazing challenges, both in the UK and overseas, for many years and participants have raised £5,000 or more when taking part.

covid-19 keeping you safe Here at Dream Challenges, the health and safety of our participants is always - and has always been - our highest priority.

As we emerge into a new post-lockdown era, we're enhancing our health and safety procedures and taking a number of key actions to protect you from the coronavirus and other illnesses.

Whilst the risk of contracting COVID-19 on your travels can never be completely eliminated, the risk of transmitting the virus can be significantly reduced. Our team of experts here at DC has created the following 14-step initiative, to minimise the risk of coronavirus and reassure you that you're safe booking with us.

FREE "TRAVEL SAFE KITS" FOR EVERY PARTICIPANT Ahead of your departure, we’ll send all participants a free ‘Travel Safe’ kit, including: • Face masks for every day of the challenge, including travel days • Flight-friendly bottles of hand sanitiser • Packs of anti-bacterial wipes • Marker pen to mark your own plastic water bottle

COVID-19 INSURANCE

All services used for our challenges now have to pass strict COVID-19 hygiene and cleanliness tests.

We have sourced a provider offering coverage in the event that you fall ill on your challenge as a result of COVID-19 and need to return home.

We’re also including COVID-19 mitigation as part of our challenge-specific route and risk assessments and issuing challenge-specific guidance to our event staff (and participants when necessary).

This insurance policy will cover you for cancellation due to diagnosed COVID-19 or medically advised isolation.

We’ll send you the details once you register for your challenge.

You can choose to stay in a single room or tent for an additional, margin-free, cost.

We’re providing packed lunches and replacing buffets with table service. When buffets are unavoidable, there will be no self-service.

All participants and staff should wear the masks provided in your Travel Safe Kits, while in vehicles.

This tough but enchanting trek takes us from the mountain town of Lukla, up through rhododendron and fir forests, across pretty streams and creaking glaciers, past peaceful rural monasteries, shrines and prayer wheels and through unending and unforgettable panoramas, to the mighty Mount Everest Base Camp.

Reaching dizzy heights with stunning mountain vistas, we’re accompanied all the way by our wonderful ground handler, Dawa, who grew up in the Himalayas and knows the mountains like the back of his hand. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION AND TO BOOK Join us in in the real-life Narnia of Northern Finland on a challenge like snow other. Together, we navigate and snowshoe as a team through the wilderness, camp in the snow, build our own meal plans and even make an igloo.

We start with a day and a half of sub-zero survival preparation, acclimatisation and challenge training with our Arctic experts at our adventure base lodge in Kuusamo.

Then we head into the wilderness.

Surrounded by nothing but pristine nature, we navigate as a team to our finish point, with our Arctic Experts and at least one challenge doctor on hand every step of the way. We head our compasses North and trek together through a serene, snowy wonderland. Pulling all the gear we need in sledges, we’ll snowshoe by day and make our own meals and set our own camp at night and we may even see the Northern Lights!

At the end of our expedition, we return to the lodge for a well-deserved sauna and a chance to build and sleep in our own igloos. If that’s not enough to get excited about, you can also jump on an optional ice fishing tour on the biggest spring in Europe, Lake Kitka and/or a visit to the stunning Ruka ski centre.

Trekking from the Dead Sea to the hidden city of Petra, we’ll tackle a myriad of terrains, discover the secrets of this ancient land and see more shooting stars than you thought was possible.

By day, our Bedouin guides will lead us along ancient trails through towering valleys, past waterfalls, across vast, barren expanses and even to the top of the Black Mountains. We’ll immerse ourselves in the local culture and legends of this unspoiled landscape, a world apart from everyday life.

By night, we’ll rest in Bedouin camps and choose to sleep in tents or under a sky unspoiled by light pollution.

Hiking from one iconic World Heritage Site to another, we’ll end our adventure with a day exploring Petra, the famous ancient city, carved into the desert mountains.

The challenge may be tough, but the incredible panoramas are more than worth the work out, not to mention the cause!

Together, we’ll hike from Pokhara to Poon Hill and make a mountainous impact for children’s charities and hospices across the UK. Starting in the serene city of Pokhara, we’ll follow rivers in mountain valleys and climb through forests bright with rhododendrons. The panoramas of lush vegetation and snow-capped peaks are more than worth the challenging ascents!

We reach the highest point of our trek, Poon Hill (3,210m), by torch light for an unforgettable experience watching the sun rise over the surrounding peaks. Staying in local guest houses by night and guided all the way by our fantastic trekking leader, who grew up in the Himalayas, this challenge will give you incredible insight into the Nepali culture.

Our awesome adventure gives us chances to take in this top hiking spot from every angle and even kayak the beautiful River Tuul!

Along the way, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for over two-hundred species of birds, including falcons, kestrels and even vultures!

By night, we’ll camp in idyllic spots, far from everyday life and look out for shooting stars in a sky void of light pollution.

Lacing up our boots in Munich, we’ll follow a stretch of the Way of St James leading to the Camino de Santiago and wind alongside rivers, through rolling fields and lush forest, into biscuit-tin villages and tiny hamlets that give us a feel for the local lifestyle.

At the breath-taking Walchensee Lake, we veer off the path of the pilgrimage and hike across a chain of mountain passes through the heart of the Bavarian Alps. Exquisite vistas of the surrounding mountains and the patchwork fields below accompany us until we reach the unforgettable finishing point of Oberammergau.

Here, we have a chance to experience the once-a-decade Oberammergau Passion Play. This immersive, eight-hour performance dates back to 1633, when the Bubonic Plague descended on the town. The locals vowed that if God spared their lives, they would re-enact the story of Christ every ten years. Miraculously, the plague killed no others after this promise was made and so the tradition began.

From lava crossings to glistening glaciers to small streams to raging rivers, trekking doesn’t get more dramatic than this. Starting in Landmannalaugar, we’ll climb through the mountains on all sorts of terrains, tackling rocky stretches, snow fields and expanses of glistening black obsidian rock.

Our mighty challenge takes us from the movie-scene city of Ouarzazate across rocky expanses, past palm-lined oases and tamarisks into the heart of the Sahara. Guided by our team of friendly local Berbers and their handsome camels, we’ll tackle tough climbs through seas of golden dunes and to the top of Erg Zaher.

Small groups - Our Dream Challenges are renowned for their camaraderie, but we find that the strongest bonds are formed in smaller groups. We’ll travel in groups of around 20 people or fewer and you’re likely to make friends for life!

What’s more, small groups mean no queues!

Luxury accommodation - Wherever possible, we’ll stay in five-star hotels or in hand-picked atmospheric hotels that will be an experience in themselves. Think beach-front buildings, pool-side rooms and the comfiest beds you’ll ever sleep in! Perfect after a tough day in the saddle!

Luxury coaches - As we cycle in some remote destinations, we sometimes need to transfer long distances. With reclining seats, refreshments and loads of leg-room, you’ll look forward to our transfers!

Q. How fit do I need to be?

A: Our challenges are not designed for Olympic athletes; they’re designed for people looking for an amazing goal to train and get fit for.

A number of the people who will take part in our challenges will have little or no fitness level when they sign up. We provide you with a free comprehensive and realistic training programme for each challenge, which we’ll send to you in plenty of time once you’ve signed up, so you’ll have lots of time to prepare.

Q. What type of accommodation will I be staying in?

Q. Do doctors accompany your groups?

A: The accommodation varies from challenge to challenge, ranging from comfortable hotels to jungle monasteries to mountain and desert camps to traditional home stays to sleeper trains! Visit our website for more information on the types of accommodation for each challenge.

A: Yes. We always have a UK based doctor as part of the crew on our overseas challenges, sometimes two, depending on the size of the group.

Q. Is there a lower and upper age limit to take part?

A: You need to be 18 years old or over to take part in a Dream Challenge.

There’s no upper age limit. One of the amazing things about our challenges is that people of all ages will come together to do something very special to raise funds for the charity closest to their heart. Everyone over the age of 18 is welcome to join the fun.

Q. What other costs do I need to pay?

A: In addition to paying your registration fee, you will need to budget for your visa (if applicable), airport taxes and the fuel surcharge for our overseas challenges (typically £350 but subject to change – up or down). Other items to take into account include personal travel insurance, gratuities, optional tours and personal expenses.

Summary of our booking conditions 1. A non-refundable registration fee is required to participate in the event and should be paid direct to Dream Challenges Ltd. 2. If you have selected: Sponsorship – You pay the non-refundable event registration fee direct to Dream Challenges when you register for the event. You must raise the agreed minimum amount of sponsorship as specified by your chosen charity, 100% of which must be sent to your charity at least 12 weeks prior to the event departure date* and will be used to cover your tour including travel, accommodation, food, support vehicles and event support.

Self Funded – You pay the non-refundable event registration fee direct to Dream Challenges when you register for the event. You must pay the full event costs which will need to be paid to Dream Challenges 12 weeks before the departure date* to secure your place on the event.

3. If you want to cancel your booking you must notify Dream Challenges in writing. The effective date of cancellation will be the date such notice is received. Registration and administration fees are non-refundable in the event that you cancel.

If the Charity has paid the Challenge Tour Cost to DCL. If you cancel your booking, the cancellation charges referred to above will apply. DCL shall refund to the Charity any monies relating to the Challenge Tour Cost paid by it to DCL after deduction of the cancellation charges set out above. You agree that the Charity shall be entitled to keep any such refunded monies and shall not be obliged to pay them to you.

4. Flight inclusive challenges: we hold an Air Travel Organiser’s Licence issued by the CAA (ATOL No. 10456) which provides for your protection in the event of Dream Challenges' insolvency. The price of your air holiday packages includes the ATOL Protection Contribution (APC) we pay to the CAA. This charge is included in our advertised prices. When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong.

5. The Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited (ABTOT) provides financial protection under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 for Dream Challenges Ltd. and in the event of their insolvency, protection is provided for the following: 1.

Non-flight packages and Flight inclusive packages that commence outside of the EU, which are sold to customers outside of the EU.

ABTOT cover provides for a refund in the event you have not yet travelled or repatriation if you are abroad. Please note that bookings made outside the EU are only protected by ABTOT when purchased directly with Dream Challenges Ltd. In the unlikely event that you require assistance whilst abroad due to our financial failure, please call our 24/7 helpline on 01702 811397 and advise you are a customer of an ABTOT protected travel company. If you are refused passage/entry/exit to or from the event destination any additional costs incurred are your responsibility.

7. Itineraries, schedules and accommodation may change and other alterations may occur which are beyond the control of Dream Challenges.

8. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from date of return to the UK. You are responsible for ensuring that you have a valid passport for the challenge.

9. We strongly recommend all participants purchase travel insurance which covers health/accident/loss and repatriation.

10. You must agree to be bound by Dream Challenges Booking Conditions.

Data Protection In order to enable us to process and fulfil your booking, we will ask you to provide us with personal information including, but not limited to, name, address, email address, telephone number, details of group members that are travelling, as well as any special needs, health, medical, mobility or dietary requirements. Dream Challenges is the data controller of any personal information that you provide to us under the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 and the Data Protection Act 2018.

In order to ensure that your challenge is appropriate for your specific needs that you have disclosed to us, for example, a medical condition or reduced mobility, we or the suppliers of your travel arrangements may require further details. We will ask for your explicit consent to collect and share this information as necessary with the suppliers of your travel arrangements in order to fulfil your booking.

We may pass personal information that you provide to us (including health and mobility information as explained above) on to relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements such as airlines, hotels, transport companies and local tour operators and destination management companies as necessary to fulfil your contract with us. We may also pass your personal information to the charity/charities you are fundraising for so that they may contact you to provide fundraising assistance to enable you to fulfil your contract with us.

If you travel outside the European Economic Area (EEA), your personal information may have to be sent to suppliers and other third parties outside the EEA where controls on data protection may not be as strong as the legal requirements in this country. This may also apply to any sensitive information that you give to us such as details of any health issues, disabilities or reduced mobility. If we cannot pass this information to the relevant suppliers, whether in the EEA or not, we cannot properly effect your booking. We will ensure that adequate safeguards are in place before transferring any of your personal information outside of the EEA. Promotional Material Dream Challenges reserves the right to use any photographs and images for Legitimate Interest to promote future challenges taken on a challenge by its employees or forwarded by any person on the challenge or connected to the challenge, on its website, in its social network marketing activities or for use in any other relevant promotional material.

Should you wish not to be included in any photographs or videos, please inform a member of staff prior to challenge departure.
