1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 LOCATION Gurgaon, officially named Gurugram, is a city located in the northern Indian state of Haryana. It is situated near the Delhi–Haryana border, about 30 km (19 mi) southwest of the national capital New Delhi and 268 km (167 mi) south of Chandigarh, the state capital. It is one of the major satellite cities of Delhi and is part of the National Capital Region of India. As of 2011, Gurgaon had a population of 1,153,000.

1.2 TOPOGRAPHY Gurgaon district comprises of both hills on one hand and depressions on the other, forming irregular and diverse nature of topography. The average land elevation in Gurugram is 217 meters (712 ft) above sea level. the geographical coordinates of Gurgaon are 28.460 deg latitude, 77.026 deg longitude, and 748 ft elevation. The topography within 2 miles of Gurgaon contains only modest variations in elevation, with a maximum elevation change of 112 feet and an average elevation above sea level of 738 feet. Within 10 miles contains only modest variations in elevation (495 feet). Within 50 miles contains significant variations in elevation (981 feet).
