A short distance from the largest city in South America lies the region known as Vale do Ribeira, consisting of 24 municipalities and the State’s most exuberant and generous natural beauty. Its parks and reserves are home to over 10,000 species of fauna and flora of the rich Atlantic Forest, declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO on account of its diversity.

A huge variety of natural products, combined with a culture of preservation and the different waves of migration, has created very rich gastronomy that mixes local products with the cultural influence of the local indigenous, quilombo and riparian communities, and Italian, Japanese and German immigrants.

São Paulo is a State in Brazil whose borders hold the world. It is an economic powerhouse, rich in diversity and with a tourism industry boosted by business, cultural attractions, beaches, nature, adventure, cuisine and much more.

Those who enjoy traveling, adventure and discovering new places will find options for adventure sports, trails and ecotourism. It’s unspoiled nature protects Brazil’s most diversified fauna. Identified species of birds, alone, number over 220 which, according to scientific estimates, could be as high as 400. Archaeological sites consisting of sambaquis (shells and bone left by indigenous peoples) point to the area having been occupied in times gone by before the arrival of those who discovered Brazil. Trepandé bay provides tourists with scenes of rare beauty, such as the harmonious ballet of the dolphins and the flights of countless birds that follow the vessels. The boats anchored in the ports of Cananéia, Iguape, and Ilha Comprida provide transportation to this tiny island and other locations in the region. This is the point of departure for the best oysters consumed in the restaurants of the interior and the capital of São Paulo. At Barra do Turvo, lots of water and greenery of the Atlantic Forest. It has over 70 waterfalls and is an irresistible invitation for adventure. Rubber ring cross, tree-top, or canopy, walks, zip-lining and horse riding. The municipality of Eldorado is home to the state’s most beautiful waterfalls. The Trilha das Ostras trail runs for 6 km to the “Queda de Meu Deus” fall, 53 meters high. For those who enjoy even greater adventure, there is the option of rappelling. There you will also find the Devil’s Cave (Caverna do Diabo), the largest in the state of São Paulo, running underground for 600 m. It has artificial lighting, stairways and walkways to facilitate entrance by visitors. Iporanga has over 300 caves. Canopy walking, ziplining, trails or grottos: just pick a trip and venture into the landscapes of the city full of waterfalls. At Ilha Comprida, lots of trails and a full itinerary of adventure and emotion, with several stops to take in the best the location has to offer, such as the view of the lakes, dunes, and beaches. The cultural diversity of its population is something rarely found, a preserved cultural heritage Across the entire region, hostels, camping and accommodation sites where tourists can feel close to the regional nature and culture.
