Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, angels and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church, in knowledge and holiness; to give it a place in our affections, prayers and services above every organization of human origin; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God has prospered us, toward its expenses, for the support of a faithful and evangelical ministry among us, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. In case of a difference of opinion in the church, we will strive to avoid a contentious spirit, and if we cannot unanimously agree, we cheerfully recognize the right of the majority to govern.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be kind and just to those in our employ, and faithful in the service we promise others; endeavoring in the purity of heart and good will towards all people to exemplify and commend our Holy faith.

We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort and stir up each other unto every good word and work; to guard each other’s reputation, not needlessly exposing the infirmities of other; to participate in each other’s joys and with tender sympathy bear one another’s burdens and sorrows; to cultivate Christian courtesy; to be slow to give or take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of our Savior in the eighteenth chapter of Matthew, to secure it without delay; and through life, amid evil report and good report, to seek to live to the glory of God who hath called us out of the darkness into God’s marvelous light.

When we remove from this place, we engage as soon as possible to unite with some other church, where we can carry on the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

SERVICE OF INSTALLATION

Officers and Ministry Leaders

“We beseech you, brethren, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work…and we exhortyou, brethren, admonishtheidle, encouragethejointhearted, helptheweak, bepatientwiththemall…Rejoice always, pray constantly, givethanksinallcircumstances; forthisisthewillof GodinChristJesusforyou." 1 Thessalonians 4:12-18

THE LEADER’S PLEDGE:

“I do solemnly pledge, by the help of almighty God, and through the inspiration that comes from our Lord, Jesus Christ, that I will endeavor to serve the ministry of my assignment with humility and love and to the best of my ability. I will endeavor to attend the regular services of the church, and to cultivate a good and positive relationship with the pastor and all those who are members of my specific ministry and church. I pledge to pray for and to seek to understand the whole program of the church. This I will do, so help me God, in the due performance of the same ”

THE CONGREGATIONAL PLEDGE:

“We the members of St. Paul’s Baptist Church are grateful to Christ for the officers and leaders now being installed. We sincerely and truly realize that these officers are leaders and cannot perform their sacred task without the harmonious support of each of us. We, therefore, pledge to pray for and support their leadership, and by the help of Almighty God and our Blessed Savior, we will endeavor to give them our loyal support during the year of 2019.

RESPONSE: HAVE THINE OWN WAY, LORD! (stanzas 1 and 4)

“Have thine own way, Lord!

Have thine own way!

Thou art the Potter, I am the clay: Mold me and make me After thy will, While I am waiting, Yielded and still.

“Have thine own way, Lord!

Have thine own way!

Hold o'er my being absolute sway. Fill with thy Spirit till all shall see Christ only, always, living in me!”

Our next meeting is Tuesday, Mar. 5th at 6:30 pm. See us on the 2nd floor, in the St. Paul's Baptist Church library. If you have questions, contact Deacon Ghana Rowell after church or email Gpearl79@gmail.com; put knitting in your subject line. We are excited to welcome all who are interested!

Why We Need

"Black History is American History"

Join Seba Enrichment Academy as we discuss and reflect on the role and impact African Americans have played in shaping the United States.

Our ministry will again provide exciting opportunities to dig deeper into connections with our rich African past and share our resilience as a people.

We will also share full and inclusive civics and history education that will ensure opportunities to learn about the contributions of Black Americans not only during February but throughout the entire year.

Our classes are for all ages, youth - adults.

• Once registered, you will be notified of workshop topics, special guests, field trips and dates.
