Advent Litany: Love
LEADER: For God so loved the world that on a silent night in a humble town called Bethlehem, God gave God’s only begotten Son. Oh what a love, what perfect love.
PEOPLE: Come God of Love, come.
LEADER: God sent God’s standard of love: To love one another; to love your neighbors; to love your enemies and pray for them; and to love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
PEOPLE: Come God of Love, Light of the world.
LEADER: God gave humankind the Gift of Love. A love that holds nothing back. A love that is patient, kind, and envies no one. A love that is never boastful, conceited, rude or selfish. A love that is not quick to take offense and keeps no records of wrongs.
PEOPLE: God of Love, The Hope of Salvation, come.
LEADER: God’s love does not gloat over other people's troubles, but rejoices in the right, the good, and the true. God’s love can face anything, there is no cap to its faith, to its hope, to its joy, and there is no limit to its possibilities. Prepare ye the way of the Lord.
ALL: As God’s chosen people, the love we proclaim is entirely unlike every form of human love. It is the love of Christ. Clear the way in us, your people. Break into our world and into our hearts again. Magnify Your love in us until it overflows to our family, our neighbors, our enemies, and our world. Prepare our hearts to be transformed by You, that we may shine the light of Your compassionate love. Come, God of Love, come.

Luke 2:1-7 NRSV
1 In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered.
2 This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.
3 All went to their own towns to be registered.
4 Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David.
5 He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child.
6 While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child.
7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

Jesus Our Greatest Gift
In this Season of Celebrating
God’s Greatest Gift to us, St. Paul’s Baptist Church has an opportunity to give the gift of food. Each Sunday beginning December 4, 2022 please bring canned goods: vegetables, fruits, pasta sauces or meats. You can also bring jarred goods: peanut butter, jams, and jellies for the West Chester Food Cupboard.
If 100 of us bring one 16 oz. canned good each Sunday through December 25. 2022 we will collect and give to the West Chester Food Cupboard almost one ton of food. Please consider giving as much and as often as the Spirit of God leads. Let’s celebrate God’s gift to us by giving food to others in this time when so many are facing the challenge of food insufficiency!

Many people in the United States have some protection, or immunity, against COVID-19 due to vaccination, previous infection, or both. This immunity, combined with the availability of tests and treatments, has greatly reduced the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19 for many people.
The CDC has stated “We’re in a stronger place today as a nation, with more tools—like vaccination, boosters, and treatments—to protect ourselves, and our communities, from severe illness from COVID-19. We also have a better understanding of how to protect people from being exposed to the virus.”
Because we have better tools to protect ourselves against COVID19, the CDC has lifted most COVID19 restrictions. However, we are recommending that we gradually reduce mitigation strategies against COVID 19 for our congregation.
Our first step is that we will no longer require social distancing for our Sunday services. We will still require masking at all times while in the sanctuary. We will continue to encourage anyone who is feeling ill to please stay at home. We are requesting people who are immunocompromised or have other chronic illnesses to wear N95 protective masks. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated and boosted.
We will continue to closely monitor COVID 19 data locally and nationally over the next few weeks. We will revisit COVID19 mitigation strategies for St. Paul’s Baptist in October. We thank you for your cooperation.

COVID Funeral Assistance
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought overwhelming grief to many families. At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters. We are dedicated to helping ease some of the financial stress and burden caused by the virus.
Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA will provide financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.
We are working with stakeholder groups to get their input on ways we can best provide this assistance, and to enlist their help with outreach to families and communities. FEMA will begin to implement COVID-19 funeral assistance in April.
Additional guidance is being finalized and will be released to potential applicants and community partners as soon as possible. In the meantime, people who have COVID-19 funeral expenses are encouraged to keep and gather documentation.
