Advent Litany: Joy

LEADER: A sound is heard in Ramah, the sound of weeping. Rachael is weeping.

PEOPLE: As we begin the Advent Season we pray for our justice system, we respect the system even when its results seem flawed, we pray for the families of those who have been slain by gun violence, left to die on streets. We also pray for the accusers.

LEADER: As people of God, we weep for the lives of all who instead of enjoying life become victims of hate, victims of war, and victims of violence. We come to praise you, O God, the maker of heaven and earth.

PEOPLE: Glory be to God on high; and earth, peace.

LEADER: We come to praise You, God our Creator. You have made us in Your image. Give us the courage to hunger for You with our whole being, so that in hungering for You, we live for You, loving You in our every breath, thought, and action.

PEOPLE: Glory be to God on high; and on earth peace.

LEADER: We come to praise you Lord Jesus, who, though You were in the form of God, allowed Yourself to be born in human likeness.

PEOPLE: Glory be to God on high; and on earth peace.

ALL: Christ Jesus, Son of God, the Light of the World may the joyful promise of Your presence make us rejoice in our hope of salvation. You are the Joy of Heaven that longs to fill us. You are the might of God that longs to empower us. You bring life to the deserts of our hearts and You bring joy to the darkest night. Glory be to God on high; and on earth peace.

Women's Fellowship Meet-Up at Mabel's

S U N D A Y , D E C E M B E R 1 1 T H A F T E R S E R V I C E

Our Fellowship is truly blessed. We are blessed because we are a diverse and inclusive community. Being so, makes us grateful for each other and our friends and family, our work colleagues and community. As we move towards Christmas let’s celebrate and give thanks to our Lord and Savior. This holiday season we are going to celebrate with a Meet-up at Mabel’s on Sunday, December 11th right after service. This is what you need to bring: 1. Money to cover your lunch. 2. A gift for $10.00 or less for our Pollyanna. And, most importantly a canned good(s) for our donation to the Food Cupboard. We will need to give Mabel a count so please call the office with your RSVP by December 8th. With Much Gratitude, Sister Carolyn Chester.

Jesus Our Greatest Gift

In this Season of Celebrating

God’s Greatest Gift to us, St. Paul’s Baptist Church has an opportunity to give the gift of food. Each Sunday beginning December 4, 2022 please bring canned goods: vegetables, fruits, pasta sauces or meats. You can also bring jarred goods: peanut butter, jams, and jellies for the West Chester Food Cupboard.

If 100 of us bring one 16 oz. canned good each Sunday through December 25. 2022 we will collect and give to the West Chester Food Cupboard almost one ton of food. Please consider giving as much and as often as the Spirit of God leads. Let’s celebrate God’s gift to us by giving food to others in this time when so many are facing the challenge of food insufficiency!

Many people in the United States have some protection, or immunity, against COVID-19 due to vaccination, previous infection, or both. This immunity, combined with the availability of tests and treatments, has greatly reduced the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19 for many people.

The CDC has stated “We’re in a stronger place today as a nation, with more tools—like vaccination, boosters, and treatments—to protect ourselves, and our communities, from severe illness from COVID-19. We also have a better understanding of how to protect people from being exposed to the virus.”

Because we have better tools to protect ourselves against COVID19, the CDC has lifted most COVID19 restrictions. However, we are recommending that we gradually reduce mitigation strategies against COVID 19 for our congregation.

Our first step is that we will no longer require social distancing for our Sunday services. We will still require masking at all times while in the sanctuary. We will continue to encourage anyone who is feeling ill to please stay at home. We are requesting people who are immunocompromised or have other chronic illnesses to wear N95 protective masks. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated and boosted.

We will continue to closely monitor COVID 19 data locally and nationally over the next few weeks. We will revisit COVID19 mitigation strategies for St. Paul’s Baptist in October. We thank you for your cooperation.

COVID Funeral Assistance

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought overwhelming grief to many families. At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters. We are dedicated to helping ease some of the financial stress and burden caused by the virus.

Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA will provide financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.

We are working with stakeholder groups to get their input on ways we can best provide this assistance, and to enlist their help with outreach to families and communities. FEMA will begin to implement COVID-19 funeral assistance in April.

Additional guidance is being finalized and will be released to potential applicants and community partners as soon as possible. In the meantime, people who have COVID-19 funeral expenses are encouraged to keep and gather documentation.
