“We don’t need another political uprising. We don’t need another conqueror on the scene. What we need is a special word, that will bond within our hearts and give us direction from above. We need a Word from the Lord. A Word from the Lord. Just one Word from the Lord, will remove all the doubts and cause the sun to shine and give peace of mind. Speak Lord, Speak Lord.”

The Ministry of Preaching The Reverend Farrah Gaskins When Jesus Is Close By John 5:1 9 (NRSV) *Call to DepartiDiscipleshipngtoServe * Please Stand ** Ushers May Seat Worshippers *** Congregation Be Seated 5

Jesus said to him, “Stand up, take your mat and 9walk.”Atonce the man was made well, and he took up his mat and began to walk. 6

The ill man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am making my way someone else steps down ahead of me.”

1 After this there was a festival of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Beth-zatha, which has five 3porticoes.Inthese lay many ill, blind, lame, and paralyzed 5people.Oneman was there who had been ill for thirtyeight years. 6

END RACISM / BUILD PEACE

“Each year International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September through observing 24 hours of non violence and cease fire. But true peace requires the building of societies where all members feel that they can flourish. It involves creating a world in which people are treated equally, regardless of their race.

Established in 1981 by a unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. The UN’s 2022 theme for International Day of Peace is “End Racism. Build Peace.” Join CCPM & the efforts of the UN as we work towards a world where compassion and empathy overcome suspicion and hatred. A world that we can truly be proud of.

2022 DAY OF PEACE

Racism continues to poison institutions, social structures, and everyday life in every society. It continues to be a driver of persistent inequality. And it continues to deny people their fundamental human rights. It destabilizes societies, undermines democracies, erodes the legitimacy of governments…the linkages between racism and gender inequality are unmistakable.” ~ UN Secretary General, António Guterres number motivated by biases toward race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, Asian hate crimes targeting Black people highest number of anti Semitic incidents a decade wing extremists have been responsible for more than 75% of extremist-related US transgender & nonbinary youth reported being physically threatened or harmed in their lifetime due to their gender identity of LGBTQ youth reported being physically threatened or harmed in their lifetime due to their sexual orientation of LGBTQ youth attempted

St. Paul's Baptist Church Relaunch Committee

Our first step is that we will no longer require social distancing for our Sunday services. We will still require masking at all times while in the sanctuary. We will continue to encourage anyone who is feeling ill to please stay at home. We are requesting people who are immunocompromised or have other chronic illnesses to wear N95 protective masks. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated and boosted. We will continue to closely monitor COVID 19 data locally and nationally over the next few weeks. We will revisit COVID19 mitigation strategies for St. Paul’s Baptist in October. We thank you for your cooperation.

COVID Protocols for Worship 23

The CDC has stated “We’re in a stronger place today as a nation, with more tools—like vaccination, boosters, and treatments—to protect ourselves, and our communities, from severe illness from COVID-19. We also have a better understanding of how to protect people from being exposed to the virus.”

Many people in the United States have some protection, or immunity, against COVID-19 due to vaccination, previous infection, or both. This immunity, combined with the availability of tests and treatments, has greatly reduced the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19 for many people.

Because we have better tools to protect ourselves against COVID19, the CDC has lifted most COVID19 restrictions. However, we are recommending that we gradually reduce mitigation strategies against COVID 19 for our congregation.
