Dear Friends, It is wonderful to be back! After navigating the difficulties of the past few years, the 22/23 Season represented a full return to the theater and into the community. This past season, our first year under the Performing Arts Houston name, exemplified our mission to connect audiences and extraordinary artists. As we reflect on the 22/23 Season, we want to share our gratitude to outgoing Board Chair Mark Jodon for the leadership and joy he brings our organization. We would not be where we are today without him. Looking forward, we warmly welcome incoming Board Chair Bill Swanstrom. We are excited to share some of the stories of our impact in the past year, but most of all, we want to take the opportunity to thank you for your continued support and dedication. New/Now: The Houston Artist Commissioning Project New/Now: The Houston Artist Commissioning Project, now in its third year, culminated in the world premiere of four new works by Houston artists at the Cullen Theater. Education and Community The story of the 22/23 Season can’t be told without highlighting the impact of our Education and Community Engagement initiatives. This past season saw an expansion of several programs, including the in-school Collaborative Arts Project (CAP), which sends teaching artists into local middle school fine arts classrooms to augment classroom instruction with literacy-based activities. Additional accomplishments include a sold-out student matinee performance by STOMP, which brought over 1,900 economically disadvantaged students to Jones Hall, as well as a week-long residency with members of Dance Theatre of Harlem.

Kaleidoscope Ball On Saturday, April 1, 2023 (no joke!), we celebrated longtime supporters Linda and Willie Chiang at the Kaleidoscope Ball, An Evening in the Garden District. Mignon and Steve Gill served as chairs of the event, which raised a record $600,000 in support of our presentations and education and community engagement programs. Photos by Jacob Power
