When Toronto’s historic Casa Loma closes for the day, a dozen patrons stay trapped inside. As a team, they’ll find clues and solve ­interactive puzzles to escape before time runs out. To set the scene, professional actors guide players through the adventure.

Choose from two missions: The World War II-themed Escape from the Tower tests your ­cartographic, mathematical and spatial skills, while King of the Bootleggers is set in the 1920s during Prohibition and takes place within the castle’s underground tunnels. Both games incorporate authentic period props

into the action, from a desk owned

by Casa Loma’s founder, Henry Pellatt, to a vintage player piano.

Expect to be challenged: According to the games’ designers, fewer than 10 percent of teams manage to complete their escape mission within the hour.  Quand l’historique Casa Loma ferme ses portes, une dou­zaine de visiteurs y restent enfermés.

When I fall in love with something, I don’t take it off for a while! TORONTO DOMINION CENTRE Mies van der Rohe’s tower is so beautiful – in such a polarizing way. I just can’t help myself from taking ­pictures there. TWO HORSES SALON This is my go-to hair salon, and it doubles as a tattoo parlour. The owners, Sara-Isobel Mulder and Jessi Preston, have created a funky, unique space decorated CRITCHLEY LANE with old and new art. Classic rock tunes set the vibe – I recently had my hair cut to Tom Petty.  C’est mon salon de coiffure, qui fait aussi des tatouages. Les proprios, Sara-Isobel Mulder et Jessi Preston, ont créé un lieu unique vraiment génial, avec de l’art ancien et nouveau. Some of my favourites are their zucchini flowers with ricotta, tomato and hemp hearts, the lobster with trout caviar – and, for the grand finale, the caramel flan.  Le service est impec dans ce joli restaurant au menu inventif et où l’on mixe des cocktails élaborés. Fromagerie Hamel has every cheese ever and the Polish donuts by the entrance are so good.  Quand je suis en tournée à manger sur le pouce, je rêve à ce marché et à ses fruits et légumes, à ses pains artisanaux, à ses fleurs et à ses fruits de mer. La fromagerie Hamel vend vraiment de tout, et les beignets polonais près de l’entrée sont fabuleux.

Surviving looks a lot like thriving Breast cancer flipped Katherine’s world upside down.

But in the five years since she underwent treatment, Katherine’s been doing some flips of her own.

Thanks to research to discover new treatments, women like Katherine are having their lives put right side up after a cancer diagnosis. That’s why Stand Up To Cancer Canada and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation have teamed up to accelerate the pace of research done by collaborative teams of scientists working to develop new treatments faster.
