MAI XIANG YUAN Theirs are the best dumplings in Montreal. We’ll often order the pork and dried mushroom ones to go; the warm broth explodes in your mouth. Wednesday through Sunday (with weekend brunches), dive into share-friendly menus captained by seafood plates, including octopus frittata and swordfish crudo. Here the bar is anchored by Ontario’s finest microbrews and inventive craft cocktails. (Try the Lolita, made with Earl Grey-infused rye, Nonino, egg, lemon, sugar and Islay Scotch.) And if the light fixtures suspended from the hull-shaped ceiling ring a nautical bell in your head, it’s because they were salvaged from Toronto Harbour’s iconic Captain John’s ship.

 Version actualisée du bon vieux resto de bord de mer, le Commodore est le dernier venu des bars et bistros du quartier Parkdale. Du mercredi au dimanche (et la fin de semaine pour le brunch), plongez dans un menu de mets à partager où les produits de la mer (comme frittata de poulpe et tartare d’espadon) sont en vogue. Le bar sert quant à lui d’excellents produits de microbrasseries ontariennes et des cocktails maison inventifs. (Essayez le Lolita, avec rye à l’Earl Grey, Nonino, œuf, citron, sucre et scotch ­d’Islay.) Et si les suspensions au plafond en forme de coque de bateau vous rappellent quelque chose, c’est qu’elles proviennent du célèbre Captain John’s, qui a jadis mouillé au port de Toronto.

Surviving looks a lot like thriving Breast cancer flipped Katherine’s world upside down.

But in the five years since she underwent treatment, Katherine’s been doing some flips of her own.

Thanks to research to discover new treatments, women like Katherine are having their lives put right side up after a cancer diagnosis. That’s why Stand Up To Cancer Canada and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation have teamed up to accelerate the pace of research done by collaborative teams of scientists working to develop new treatments faster.
