When we ran our first survey we did not expect to be running this third one, almost 12 months on. The second lockdown did not come as a surprise, as the concept of a ‘second wave’ was well known to us all. From speaking with contacts recently, this (third) lockdown has been the toughest to endure; however, knowing that there is now a vaccine is evidence of light at the end of the tunnel our thoughts turn to what the return to the workplace will look like.
It was our intention to send out a survey soon after (the first) lockdown began in March 2020, this was followed up with a second survey a few months later, and this our latest third survey, in order to look at longitudinal changes in organisational attitudes.
We are hoping that our next survey will allow us to gauge how well the blended way of working (that is, allowing staff to use an ecosystem of spaces including the office, home and possibly 3rd spaces such as cafés or libraries) is ‘bedding in’ for those organisations that have chosen that.
