Interior Design & Architectural Services

We believe that designing living space is deeply personal.
At Space A we pride ourselves on the quality of our service. To us, every project is a journey where we foster strong relationships with the people we work with. We see our role as guiding and collaborating with our clients to find a spatial character that really speaks to them.
We are fascinated by the ritual of everyday life so our design process begins with the practicalities of human routines. Our spaces have got to have soul and connect personally to the person/people using them.
We draw from contextual, historic, personal or idiosyncratic factors that make a place and building special.
We always use nature and natural materials in our work - assembled sustainably. We always seek a sense of harmony in the proportions and balance in colour tones. We also love rich colour and pattern and its ability to conjure a rainbow of emotions.
We value trust in our practice. We value the importance of fostering a great dialogue with our clients throughout.
“I can be my best self in this house. I can find soft corners for contemplation, inspirational walls of pattern & colour and indulgent Italian marble for a touch of luxury..”
~ Kind words from a client in Primrose Hill
With a palette of rich sapele, antique brass and glazed olive green the space forms a backdrop to a characterful collection of art, objects and furniture.
“I have been so incredibly enriched and opened up by working with you. Thank you A&A.”
~ Kind words from a client in Kentish Town
This home embraces neutral, chalky blush tones. These are balanced by the use of a rich ‘Puck’ green in the kitchen cabinets that structures the softer palette. Architectural interventions are contemporaryusing oak veneer, white mosaic penny tiles and soft voiles for a feeling of relaxed luxury.
“We worked with the Space A team between 20192021. They are responsive, caring, creative and committed. Highly recommended.”
~ Kind words from Niall Mills
A slab of buttery strata-expressed Italian travertine formed key walls in the internal and external spaces. Elsewhere in the house richly stained oak fluting and classic black and white marble form a traditional backdrop for bespokely painted magnolia tree murals.
“Great communication with a large difficult family, meeting everyone’s wants. Truly and honestly providing the best for the future to with stand the test of time. Can not thank them enough for all their support and effort they go to for our family holiday home.”
~ Kind words from a client in Anglesey
The inspiration for the space palette ranged from the surrounding coastal textures to the array of vintage prints and patterns littering the original house, originally re-decorated in the 1960s.
Sea tones and textures –from mustard yellow lichens, mottled grey rocks, soft blue-grey pebbles, splashes of ‘safety red’ and a gradient of sea tones were our starting point. These were then juxta positioned with inspirations from the family history and objects in the house.
