Ropetackle Film Club Season 11

The Film Club continues its 11th season on 12th October with the multi Oscar winning Everything Everywhere All At Once. Films are shown each month from September 2023 to June 2024, so nine remaining, all for just £35. The movies have been specially chosen after suggestions made by and voted on by club members. This year’s selection ranges from a 1948 Hollywood classic to three 2023 Oscar nominations, including Everything Everywhere All At Once, and also featuring four brilliant foreign language offerings.

A RELAXED VIEWING FILM open to all SOME LIKE IT HOT

Two Chicago musicians need to get out of town in a hurry - they join an all-girl band as Josephine and Daphne and head to Florida. With Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe in maybe the best comedy of all time? Relaxed Viewing films are open to everyone, but the softer lighting and relaxed layout make them particularly suitable for people with memory loss or dementia. A FAMILY FILM PUSS IN BOOTS - THE LAST WISH

Poor old Puss has used up eight of his nine lives and now he’s a shadow of the cat that used to thrive, residing in a home - but Goldilocks and her three bears need the cat’s claws to get a map that’s clasped in Jack Horner’s big paw. As usual, Antonio Banderas voices Puss, and listen out for Olivia Colman and Ray Winstone as well.

A Matinee Film The Unlikely Pilgrimage Of Harold Fry

An ordinary man passes through life on the sidelines until the day he goes to post a letter and just keeps walking. This very well-crafted adaptation of Rachel Joyce’s novel is propelled expertly by Jim Broadbent and Penelope Wilton. It’s a movie that celebrates everyday joys and human connection - a non-religious pilgrim story about the power of hope and faith.
