LIVERPOOL FC footballer Jordan Ibe has paid tribute to a “cool guy” who was stabbed to death in Borough last Friday.
David Maxwell, eighteen, collapsed and died outside an off-licence in Pilgrimage Street after the incident at around 2.30pm. The teenager from Borough Road had known Bermondsey-born Ibe from football games played as children in a nearby park. As news of David’s death spread among friends and family on Friday night, Ibe tweeted a message to his 224,000 followers. “Can’t believe this, RIP David. Was always cool whenever I saw you around …You’re in God’s hand lil man,” he wrote. Speaking on Tuesday night after he scored for Derby County, where he is now on loan, Ibe said David’s death had shocked and upset him. Full story on page 4...
