Ok, so there was one item of possible comfort left out of the guest ‘powder’ room narrative from last week. That element is lotion! Yes, lotion was not included as one of the essential items needed after washing and drying one’s hands before exiting the powder room. However, it can be an integral part of
comfort and just plain feeling good about one’s self. In a sense, that’s what my granddad was to me – a Smoother Outer – who made me feel whole and accepted even though my biological dad was unavailable. Lord! Y’all, he did not bless me out nor blow his stack when he allowed me to drive his beautiful new car to a party, and I bumped into another vehicle leaving a dent (whew!).
Isn’t that what GOD sent Christ to do for us? However, before Jesus entered, GOD had John proclaim His arrival smoothly and efficiently preparing Christ’s way. Like lotion rubbed on our skin, John smoothed out the way in people’s minds to receive GOD’s Truth through Christ Jesus! Their minds (our minds) were prepared (smoothed out; cleared of old defeating thoughts) to hear and to joyfully respond to Jesus Christ and His Gospel!
Reimagination starts with Christ’s Gospel being lovingly and convincingly conveyed which renders the hearer(s) the propensity to hear, believe, and to adhere to Jesus Christ and His saving Word! Hence, similar to John’s responsibility, our obligation is to prepare (smooth out; level) the way for Christ’s message to be heard throughout the world starting with our families and communities. After all, isn’t it very reasonable that we spread the lotion of our salvation and contented minds with those around us so they, too, may ENJOY lives saved and empowered by Christ?
It is reasonable because Christ has prepared the way for us even to the ends of the earth all the way throughout eternity (Isaiah 40:3-5; Luke 3:3-6; Luke 1:17)! Such levels our minds/hearts to joyfully receive Christ’s Gospel, Love, and Salvation so we may gleefully prepare/smooth out the way for others to whom we minister. Yes, ma’am, and yes sir, everyone proclaiming/living Christ to this dangerous and dying world is like lotion smoothing out the rough cracks thus serving to help people clear their minds in/with/through Christ!
HALLELUJAH! GOD be thanked for each one of you my ‘smoothing out’ Siblings-inChrist!
