In the world of photography, there is a captivating shift towards capturing authenticity through candid and natural portraits. Gone are the days of stiffly posed images, where photographers captured serious portraits of their subjects without any emotion. Covid and the impact of Social Media changed all that.

People want to be impacted and transformed by the images they see. Especially in portraits, people want to find the real you behind the facade. In today's world, where people spend months and years in the seclusion of Covid, many go to Social Media and advertising to find real connections and an appreciation for the beauty of imperfections. They want to see themselves in their images, and they want to be spoken to in a new way.

In this article, I'll talk about how I capture the essence and authenticity in portrait photography and how it has become a powerful means of storytelling and self-expression.

Candid and emotive professional portraits have gained immense popularity because of their ability to reveal the raw and unfiltered emotions of the subject. It is a careful balance between capturing the raw essence of someone while at the same time making them look good and highlighting their best self. For me, a professional portrait photographer, it is the favorite part of the photoshoot experience, seeing someone laugh and smile for the first time in a long time.

Some photographers adopt a hands-off and often journalistic approach to photography. I, on the other hand, carefully craft and style each portrait, from the wardrobe to the expression and body posture. I take what's there on the inside and bring it out onto the surface so that everybody can see how amazing and happy you are. Each person is different from the next, so I use different techniques in my posing and connection to bring out the correct expression, resulting in portraits that speak volumes about their personality, experiences, and emotions.

In a world consumed by carefully curated personas on social media, candid and natural portraits offer a refreshing and honest perspective. These images serve as a reminder of the beauty that exists within imperfections. And it is the empowerment of my clients to be their true themselves that create even a deeper connection between the subject and the viewer.

I strongly believe that by continuing with this thread of freezing moments of genuine authenticity, these portraits become powerful storytelling tools, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of human emotions. Walk along with me on this journey, and let's continue to explore this trend, capturing authenticity one frame at a time.
