I am so excited to be sharing our first online published magazine! We have come a long way from free Facebook event sharing to a full fledged magazine. Our Quantum Reality Our reality isn't as solid as we perceive it, particles are waves and waves are particles. But how can a solid form be a wave, and how can a wave become solid form? It's all in our perception!

Quantum, a word we are hearing more and more these days, has become an accepted, though not very understood, part of scientific reality. Science has come to understand that the very act of observation determines whether something is perceived as a solid form or a wave.

What does this mean for us non scientific folks? Simple, thoughts are things, all energy forms are waves, and can become particles just as particles, which are things, can brake down and move back into a wave. So how can this change our reality? It already does every day, as we make observations we also create thoughts and have expectations. So when you wake up and look in the mirror you have a thought and expectation of what you will see once you look in the mirror.

Quantum physics tells us if you changed your expectation long enough of what your reflection will be, then your reflection will begin to conform to your new expectation. The simple act of observation, expectation and thought actually create are particles, waves and reality.

What is quantum physics teaching us about law of attraction? The energy we give to thought has the ability to create form, and that IS the teaching of Law of Attraction, quantum physics is now concurring with these once obscure ideas. Our collective energy creates the world as we perceive it today. Want to change the world? Change your expectation of it! Want to change your reality, spend more time contemplating what will be, then what is!

Understanding that energy in all forms has the ability to become solid form, and all solid form has the ability to shift back into pure energy is the basis for creating your reality as you wish it to be. Look at it for what it is, and you will miss what it could be!

Will the New Moon in Libra expose balanced relationships?

New Moon in Libra: October 15th at 8:02 am (EDT)

The moon in October brings focus to close relationships, balance and making choices on what we’ve been building. The new moon on October 15th is in Libra. Libra is ruled by the planet Venus; the ultimate feminine planet of harmony, relationships and balance. The new moon sets the tone for what you are building every month, and the full moon is the time when what you’ve been building will come to fruition, or when you are faced with a fork in the road, and must choose which path to take.

With the new moon in Libra your attention will be called towards your close relationships and the things in your life that may not be in balance. In other words, any areas of your life that may be “ugly” or chaotic will come to the surface, and you will be faced with choices as to how you are going to deal with it, or what you are going to keep in your life. Libra is about fairness as well, and this will help you to see what areas you may need to “trim the fat” off of. Cut away what no longer serves your highest and best. You may see whether or not you are participating in a dependent relationship, or whether or not the people you associate with are friends vs. energetic drains. You may come to a conclusion that you are “doing all the work” in a relationship, or none of it. Those give and take relationships need to be balanced in order to thrive.

Libra is also associated with music, art and beauty. Are the things in your life beautiful? Do you surround yourself with those who have beautiful, loving souls? Are you beautiful in your own life and your own actions? These are questions you may be forced to look at during this moon. This is also a time to remember the artist in your self. Music, art and all forms of self-expression are beneficial to the soul. Make time for these moments of self-expression and love, and the beauty in your life will multiply exponentially.

Full Moon in Taurus : Being Bullheaded?

Full Moon in Taurus: October 29th at 3:49 pm (EDT)

The full moon in Taurus will allow you to make solid choices, but be careful not to be too stubborn. Choose your battles wisely because, in the Taurus full moon, the decisions you make are long-lasting ones. Taurus tends to be all or nothing, black and white, but remember that there is always gray area, and it doesn’t need to be strictly all or nothing. Taurus can also be quite old-fashioned, and things will turn out well with hard work and honesty. The Taurus full moon is an earth moon, and it will bring your focus onto your earthly securities such as your home and financial life. Remember that the whole cycle began with Libra’s new moon, and make sure to take some time to reflect on all your close relationships. You will then be able to draw major conclusions about yourself.

These are tools for growth. Any dynamic that is not in harmony in your relationships will become more prevalent this month, and on the full moon, October 29th, it may come to a head if you don’t address it.

You are the only one who knows what the next big step is, and what area of your life it’s in. Whether it involves your close relationships, what is beautiful in your life, or what is unfair. You are directly responsible for all of the above, even though you may not realize it. Just remember that you are in control of the energy you put out.

Sometimes you need to weed your garden of friends in order to appreciate the ones who are genuine and true. Be aware of your own actions, and what you say. If you send out loving, uplifting messages, then love will be returned to you, and you will be uplifted.

Transform all your forms of self-expression towards the pure vibration of unconditional love and freedom from fear, and it will transform every aspect of your life.

Ritual of Awakening Giza, September 1986

It could be a tomb, my room so dark and silent as I lay savoring the stillness, reviewing the night’s journeys. Which was dream, which reality? It must be almost time for the second muezzin call to prayer, that sound that permeates even the tombs with its haunting cry.

A light tapping startles me and I rise, pulling on the enormous white terrycloth robe that trails on the floor behind me.

“Made special for Americans”, housekeeping had told me.

“You’re not American, they are all big and tall.” she had insisted.

I open the wooden door to find Khaled balancing the fragrant tray that bears my breakfast. Stepping inside and standing statue-still, he waits for his eyes to adjust to the darkness, exaggerating his difficulty, his magnificent classic features visible in the dim light.

“Please, Miss Katrina, could you let some light in so I can move?”

“Tayib, wait while I open the drapes.” I drag my white train across the carpeted floor, and remove just one clothespin, allowing precisely two inches of sunlight to enter; just enough for Khaled to make his way and put down the heavy tray.

“Shukren ya Sitti.” Squinting as he surveys the room, his eyes light on the opened book and the map as he shakes his head.

“Back to pyramids again today? No make shopping at Khan el Khalili? I worry for you, Miss Katrina, why can you not relax, do normal things?”

“This is my normal, Khaled, normal for me.” He smiles as I hand him five pounds extra for his extreme good nature in enduring me every morning.

Awakening rituals must be performed painstakingly in a certain order; this is made clear in the Book of the Dead, more accurately translated as ‘The Transformation into The Light.’ A copy lies open on my nightstand, transliterated in Arabic and English.

The scent of tamarind hangs heavy in the room, the tantalizing array of fruits beginning to spread their sticky ripeness over the sides of the silver tray onto the garlands of late summer jasmine I wore last night. Today I will perform the ‘Ritual of the Eating of the Fruits’, but with great care so as not to invoke again the dreaded Mummy Tummy. Better wait until evening, just in case, since today is a long day in the desert with only primitive toilets.

I open both outer and inner drapes, carefully moving aside the carved mashrabeyya shutters. I turn the handle of the old casement window and it creaks with age to reveal the world outside. The sight of the Pyramids takes my breath every time and the nearness of them is almost too powerful to bear.

The morning airs carries a rich bouquet of scent and sound along with a fine dust that dances into the room on the rays of sunlight. The clip-clop of hooves, braying of donkeys, shouting of vendors, honking of horns, blaring of Arabic music, desert dogs barking, all heading in a great colorful parade up the curving road to The Giza Plateau.

Dragging the table and chair closer to the window, I turn to the tray and open the thick white linen napkin, inhale the scent of ‘aish baladi’ my favorite local bread. The Al Ahram with its stylized red pyramids logo lies folded on the tray, waiting to shatter the magic of this moment with world news. ‘Leaders Convene in Cairo to Discuss Hijacking’. No, I will ignore the newspaper as if it is an object from another world.

The perfectly designed, large silver teapot is heavy as I pour the fragrant amber liquid with both hands. I sit back in the ornately carved, velvet chair to gaze at the Pyramids, praising Allah that I am alive in this moment.

Omar’s stable across the street is chaos. Busloads of tourists are descending, shouting for camels or Arabian stallions immediately as if they have business meetings to attend across town.

Foreign women in bright and too-revealing polyester attire, giddy with jet lag, climb up on the high saddles, as the camel heaves and pitches back and forward to rise to its feet.

“Yalla, yalla! Let me help you”, the camel guide calls out, lovingly cupping and pushing up on the derriere of a woman who hangs sideways on the beast. Husbands stand aside holding purses and cameras, warily watching handsome camel boys in loose-flowing gallabeyas coax their women into the looming desert.

“Camel for you too, sir. No miss the fun. Two for one!” A few of the men are pushed forward by their friends, hoisted and cajoled against their protests, and off they go. The travelers at last fall into line as a caravan, laughing and taking photos of one another; evidence for someone at home that they did in fact ride a camel to the pyramids.

It is day one of their tour and the cliché is already documented on Kodak film; by the time they return to Giza in two weeks for their final stay at Mena House, they will be forever changed. Some for better, some for worse, depending on whether they can surrender to the enduring, maddening mystery that is Egypt.

Meditation is not only changing your neurological pathways and thickening your brain tissue it is adding precious, quality time to your life and it doesn't cost a penny.

A recent study site's meditation restructures the brain's ability to respond to stress. The amazing results showed as little as 5 hours over 5 weeks can make a measurable difference.

Committing as little as 15 minutes every day to focus on your breathing can change your mood and stress levels. The studies are still limited to the overall health effects but the science so far shows signs of reduced stress levels, strengthened neurological connections and even thickening of the brain tissue, which reduces chances for Alzheimer’s and dementia. Both heart attacks and strokes can be induced by high stress, over extended periods of time. It is easy to see that reducing your stress response can also diminish chances of stress related illness, which can be as minor as how long your cold lasts to things as sever as a life ending heart attack. Meditation is not only changing your neurological pathways and thickening you brain tissue it is adding precious, quality time to your life and it doesn't cost a penny.

As a beginner it is helpful to find a quiet place, turn of distractions and pick a calm back round music if you desire. Incense is also a known stress reducer and may help you relax for deeper meditations. Take some deep breaths in and slowly allow them out. Do your best to keep your focus on your breath. If you find your mind wandering, acknowledge the thought and let it go. In the beginning this may be often, but within a short period of time you will find yourself staying focused for longer periods of time.

A wonderful tip if your feeling stress and can not take time out for meditation using a simple, effective breathing technique. A favorite of mine is the 4-7-8 breath count. I would not suggest this while driving until you know how you will feel. The process is take a breath in to the count of 4, hold your breath to a count of 7 and release your breath to a count of 8.

Repeat these steps four times, no more in the beginning, this will have an immediate effect and you may feel a bit lightheaded in the beginning as this is a wonderful deep breathing exerciser. I use this often, especially when I am too busy to stop for a meditation but need more clarity. With regular meditation and this breathing technique you will find with time you will be able to call upon the feeling of calmness that comes with a deep meditation at will.

This month we will be exploring relationship from a wiser, more mature approach since Saturn, the authority, has just left the sign of Libra. It has tested our limits, teaching us all about boundaries, sharing and compromise over the past 2. 5 years. Now we want to find out the vulnerabilities and deeper motivations that glue our relationships together or slam the bedroom door shut. Passion and revenge juice up our days and nights once the Sun moves to Scorpio on the 22nd.

The New Moon on the 15th will bring a new emphasis on justice, fair play, and sharing. Can’t we all just get along? Look for Jupiter and Saturn to create some tension on this day. Perhaps we need to pay careful attention to what we commit ourselves to right now. Best to investigate what our instincts are saying rather than telling ourselves, or another, what we think they want to hear. Talk is cheap but bad advice can cost you a fortune!

Harvest The breeze hardens; sun takes new positions.

Air crisps; the breath escapes from every leaf.

With fires burning, smoke weighs in the air, It drifts up, to the moon with a new face.

Every last glimpse of warmth proves his passion.

Every leaf, a tear, enchanted in love.

His voice will fade in this song of summer.

She will sing a new one of apples and leaves.

She shows off her mane of red and yellow, Celebrating love in his departing warmth.

Leaves crackle, and her smile starts to fade.

She knows the time they have is soon over.

She kisses him goodbye in a dream too deep.

Slow and saddened, he slips away.

In grief and devotion, she will mourn him, until heartache swells into drifts of snow.

Then, again, as promised, he will return.

Reborn with the first green leaf that’s offered.

Their harvest is one of togetherness.
