Tonight we are hearing about Archangel Michael from none other than Archangel Metatron:

Good Afternoon to all of my spiritual guides and teachers. I am back again to discuss the drought conditions in California and Texas – basically in the USA.You spoke of connecting with these nature spirits on a soullevel. What do you say to non-believers, those who would call MaryFaith crazy for even suggesting such a thing?

There is an energetic friction formed, one that brings a combination of heat lightening, thunder, clouds, and rain. Sometimes hail may be formed as well. In the beginning of said practices, you may see and uneven rainfall due to healers trying to get the hang of this new tool.

How many people does it tentatively take to make raindrops fall?

To those who doubt that such a connection can take place, we say to consult with radionics experts who have already spoken with many alternative species, including bears on a mountain-top, eggs, kittens and growth factors found within different DNA cells. Obviously, this is something that, up until this point, has not been spoken of to everyday personnel. This is a form of communication that has been cultured and worked with to bring about such startling results. Results such as these have been tracked, and we, individually, have noticed that the devic intelligences are easier to penetrate and to talk with. It is only fears of being laughed at, and fears of not fully understanding what is being transmitted back and forth that stops better communications to take place.

Communication will entail working out a compromise with all parties, a human compromise. There needs to be leverage, and so to this end we see four healers; one for each of the 4 directions! North, South, East and West.

Practice taking place three times a week. Try dowsing for the correct location, sky-wise, to start doing your ministrations in.

To pursue the wetness which falls from the sky, one must focus the energy from course to flow through healing hands and into a small area to start with. The parameters are to extend over an area 200ft wide. This is to acknowledge the strength and length of God’s healing rays.

What about asking the Deva of the Frogs to help us? I’ve heard that frogs help to bring on rain by the singing of their songs!

In so much that you all have been poisoning his kith and kin, we say to you that Frog and all other types of amphibians, but especially Frogs, may need extra help to survive. Frogs are gatekeepers. They know how to trumpet vibrationally, and they know inwardly when an area needs more or less water. Within certain regions of this country, whether due to disease or to when being killed off by predatory and/or newer invasive species; the sensory tools have been becoming deadened, meaning it has become harder and harder for them to interpret the radionic symbols.

Bullfrogs, of all breeds, have been the sentinels which take in the atmospheric documentation, if you will, and this has been sent through various systems. Through water molecules and into the throats of those who would sing.

You may think of these songs as intricate notes which are played at night as the combined presences of different frogs join forces to talk with devic intelligences all over this world.

Alas, there have been less and less vibrational projections for water deliveries planned. Clear water seems to be harder and harder to come by. Even harder are places for us to just sit on a rock or the edge of a riverbed, to feel completely comfortable and not have to worry about being eaten or slowly being killed off by poisonous fungi of one type or another.

What do you offer us in return for our help?

I am just one person, but I offer you all the gift of communication, and am willing to spread the knowledge of these ideas and new ways of doing things with nature out on the Internet where other human beings can read it, become more involved with using these healing techniques to bring about rain-fall, and to saving more frogs and amphibians. Also, to opening up more lines of communication between us all. What say you to my offer?

Then we will take this gamble, sing the tunes needed to disrupt the water thrum, and vibrationally lend an ear to those healers who would attempt to work with us.

What process needs to be followed to make rainfall within drought filled areas?

Gather your people together. Meditate, dowse and communicate with : 1. Deva of Healing for your area.

2. Deva of the Frogs 3. Call in the 4 Directions; North, South, East and West (for an area of 200ft or less use 4 healers) 4. Energetically ask to be connected to all there is, was and will be.

5. Then ask to pull the full thrum of the Universal Consciousness through one’s body, and point your hands up and out towards the sky…Into the cloud regions.

Now, there is one more thing to be debated and decided. Sometimes the cloud coverage cannot be seen by the naked eye. It is so far up in the sky that only by kinesiology, dowsing or channeling can the correct spots needing to be healed be located and then recognized.

For this to work, healers will need to practice sending these energies sky-ward, and practice working and communicated with these new partners. Lastly, keep in mind that these techniques only will work if all involved are working for the good of all. They cannot be used to cause pain, hardship or sadness.

You cannot have any ulterior motives to do this healing work, because if one is harmed… all are harmed. If one is helped, all are helped.

So please be pure in heart and in one’s intent for why water should return to the driest places on earth.

The electrons, unbound from single holes, formed a kind of standing wave pattern around them. It's similar to the patterns that ordinary molecules make in liquids (think of a stone thrown into the water and the ripple pattern created), Kira said.

Dropletons don't last long, only 25 picoseconds, or trillionths of a second. But that's actually a relatively long time in terms of quantum-physical

processes.

Kira added that the work suggests several interesting experiments. For instance, the photons that excite the electrons to form dropletons become entangled with the individual exciton pairs. That means it's possible to study such interactions, an ongoing area of research.

In addition, because dropletons entangle with the photons used to make the quasiparticles, physicists can use them to study storage of quantum states — potentially useful in designing quantumbased communications devices in which such states serve as the bits of information.

"The basic physical understanding obtained from these studies can improve our ability to rationally design optoelectronic devices," such as fiber-optic communications equipment, he said.

with Diane Marie Ford We take ourselves with us wherever we go – whether it’s to a networking event, a family get-together, dinner with friends or the afterlife. Wherever we go – there we are.

Death is inevitable.

We will all take that journey at some point in our life, but we don’t have to carry our excess baggage with us when we do. Sure, there’s no extra charge for overweight baggage, but why bother taking it when everything you need will be at your beck and call?

Are you one of the many who don’t know how to let go of your excess baggage – or maybe you are not aware you are carrying it around? It may be old beliefs or behaviors you have learned to accept and even ignore – treating them as if they are ‘your lot in life,’ or it may be your inability to forgive yourself or someone else.

Worry not – I am here to share a message from my ancestors and spirit collective.

Since there is nowhere to go but the other side; the afterlife and how you arrive there is up to you – why not begin to prepare for your arrival while you are above ground and able to take earthly action? Why not begin to debunk the myths of how you “should and shouldn’t live,” or how you “must do this or not do that”?

Just recently, I had the honor of witnessing Forrest, our larger than life, big black cat, transition into spirit and leave his earthly form behind in my arms. Over a period of one week’s time, Forrest had become lethargic. After two vet visits (two days apart) and a ‘death’ sentence, we opted to take him home, and make him as comfortable as possible. Not only was he the ‘King of our castle;’ eight feline, family members looked up to him, including his heartthrob, Gracie, who adored him.

Though he chose to stop eating and drinking, he did not choose to stop living. One afternoon as I sat with him, he looked up at me with his intense green and black eyes and intuited “There is something else that can be done for me.” Not able to imagine what – I called the vet to ask. I sank when I heard the reply… “No, nothing else can be done.” I prayed. I connected. I listened.

Two days later a friend recommended a chiropractor who has had excellent results with animals – so off we went!

We were told, after the first adjustment, Forrest’s life force was vital. We were instructed to pray and bear witness for the next two days. We were hopeful. We prayed and sensed his breathing had become calmer, more peaceful. A shift had occurred. An energetic clearing of sorts had occurred. We returned for a second adjustment two days later, and after the adjustment we were told to prepare for the inevitable. The following day Forrest passed peacefully in my arms, surrounded by his human, feline and canine loved ones.

I am of the belief, as reminded by my spirit collective, that Forrest needed to clear some blockages for himself before leaving this earth

plane. They may have been of spiritual, emotional, physic or mental nature. I believe our collective actions assisted him in doing just that.

We, his family, are forever grateful that we listened to the wisdom and desires of Forrest, for listening to ourselves and taking action.

There is no time like the present for you to take action.

Start to consider taking action to clear the areas in your life which are creating blockages in your lifeforce. Some examples could be: unresolved issues with loved ones, unfulfilled dreams or desires, inability to forgive yourself or someone else, unhealed addictions, limiting beliefs, unhealthy behaviors or regret over actions not yet taken.

Since you ‘take yourself with you’ – think about what you can do now to take the best version of yourself to the afterlife. This gift of earthly life is not to be taken lightly. Why weigh yourself down in the afterlife with excess baggage when you can clear it now? It makes all the difference in the world – this I know!

“Health is a relationship between you and your body” ~ Terri Guillemets At a recent wellness visit, I read these words as I waited in the examination room. I immediately took out my planner, and wrote them down as a reminder for those days that I am tempted to indulge in the extra glass of wine, which will deprive me of sleep and nudge me towards carbs the next day.

Just as relationships with our loved ones have peaks and valleys, so does our relationship with our body, and our body’s response to us. Doesn’t it feel great to be healthy? When you’re mid–workout, feeling powerful because you got dressed, threw on sneakers and chose your body over the computer, phone or television. You did it, and you’ll do it again tomorrow. Your spouse, children and friends are watching; you’re motivating them as well.

When I am running errands or driving home from work and I see a runner or walker, I am genuinely jealous (and truly motivated) that they are out there, bettering their body and clearing their mind in the healthiest way possible. Not with a cold beer, but with fresh air, peace and nature.

Hosting workshops and events to support and educate the community.

Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.

Last summer, I was doing Reiki on my husband, and my head began rhythmically chanting: “I Trust My Body to Heal Itself,” over and over. My husband is a stone mason, and his body endures intense physical stress throughout the workday. I wrote these words on my fridge, and shared them with others. I, myself, had a small miracle about a month after these words came to me, and my body performed some magic of its own.

Consider marrying these two ideas: health as the relationship between you and your body, and trusting your body to heal itself.

Trust: there’s a topic we could debate. This is a world where it’s quicker and easier to D-I-Y than to trust a friend to help - They won’t do it as well as I can - We have to get back to trusting others to help us when possible. Can you begin with trusting your body to support and guide you towards healthy choices?

Can you imagine a relationship with a significant other without trust?

Trust helps us let go of the outcome, and encourages the universe to conspire in our favor. How often have you thought, my aching back… my sore shoulder… my pounding head… These words are creating more of these ailments through the law of attraction.

Try to replace such thoughts with “I trust my body to heal itself. I love you shoulder. You have served me well over the last forty years. I understand your tired, I will give you time to rest.” My husband’s body, which at times causes him pain, is our livelihood, and we thank and honor it daily.

Your body has served you well… it’s carried you this far. It woke you up this morning, and allows you to smell the roses and walk in the sunshine.

Thank your body; treat her to restful sleep, a foot rub, or a glass of water.

Your body may have more intense struggles; maybe you’re wheelchair bound, deaf, or dealing with disease.

Thank her for working overtime. While you may feel angst, embracing it is attracting more angst. Find something you can do, can feel or some positive experience that has come out of your current situation- maybe you met a spectacular friend, or a doctor or healer shared life changing advice, or maybe your finding new ways to love yourself despite your ailment. We all must be gentle with ourselves, our bodies, hearts and minds. Treat your body as a treasured friend, and it will love you back.

Yoga means union, but union of what?

Depends on who you ask, but for me Yoga helps to coordinate the union of body, mind and spirit.

What is currently labeled as yoga is really asanas, or postures, one of the 8 limbs of a lifestyle, which focuses on maintaining health through all of the levels of the Self. The Self even has levels, but this is a discussion for a whole other time.

Today’s world pulls us in a dozen directions at once, and keeps us on a constant hamster wheel of stressful situations. How do we detach from the noise? How do we let go of the stress? How do we reconnect to our truth?

For me, the answer is Yoga. My journey began with meditation. At a meditation retreat in Whistler, BC in 2011 I learned mantra meditation, and practiced yoga for 2 hours a day, by choice. By the end of the week, there had been a paradigm shift so pronounced that I knew this was a habit. By the end of the month, I had decided to learn how to teach the process.

By the end of the year, I had integrated daily meditation and postures into my lifestyle, and lost 70 pounds. In 18 months I chose to become certified in Ayuvedic lifestyle, counseling and Sivananda Yoga, and had lost 100lbs. Today, I teach Yoga and meditation, and for me it is a way of being rather than a profession. I have found in my life that I didn’t realize how far from my true north I had drifted until Yoga reconnected me to my inner wisdom.

Yoga is about love. Love of self, and love of your place in the world. In my meditation training we were given a series of sutras (translates as stitches), or seed ideas to use in the silence of our mind during meditation. One of my favorites, or at least, one of the ones I use most frequently, is Aham Brahmasmi. I am the Universe.

Yoga may start as a posture, or as a guided meditation. It may start with the realization that you cannot continue doing what you have been doing because it no longer feels good. At that moment you begin seeking unity with the world around you. I hope you will enjoy exploring these ideas with me as I begin this new adventure in South Shore and Cape Cod Metaphysics.

A Gateway to Healing Mind, Body, and Soul with Elise Brenner

The practice of Reiki has grown by leaps and bounds in hospitals around the world. Patients in hospitals across the globe are able to access Reiki services either by volunteer Reiki practitioners or by Reiki-trained doctors and nurses. Both qualitative and quantitative studies demonstrate that hospital patients who experience Reiki sessions are calmer, heal faster, experience less pain, and are frequently discharged earlier than anticipated. The bottom line is that Reiki in hospitals not only improves patient care, but also reduces costs. Hospitals clearly recognize that Reiki is not only an integrative mind, body, spirit healing art, but also a practical resource for hospital patients and staff.

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive, spiritually-based, Japanese healing system for maintaining and restoring health and wellness of body, mind, and spirit. The word ‘Reiki’ means ‘spiritual energy’ or ‘soul energy’.

It is this spiritual energy, which is both within us and ‘out there’ that we connect with to bring healing and to restore balance to the recipient and facilitate personal

growth and development.

The system of Reiki is a complementary healing practice that can be learned and used by anyone. An individual may choose a Reiki professional and receive sessions to get relief from troubling physical conditions or because he or she is seeking a happier, more vitalized self. Alternatively, an individual may choose to become trained in Reiki in order to improve his/her own wellbeing and to care for others with Reiki. Either way, a Reiki treatment is performed by gentle touch on (or hands hovering a few inches above) the body’s major organs, glands, and joints using a series of hand positions. The recipient is always fully clothed, either lying down on a Reiki table or seated comfortably in a chair.

Whether one learns Reiki for one’s own health and well-being, or whether one seeks a Reiki session from a Reiki practitioner, a Reiki treatment facilitates balance and alignment on four levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

The Physical Level

Reiki helps individuals have more restful sleep at night; maintain higher energy levels in the day; get relief from pain caused by acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and other health conditions. Reiki facilitates stress reduction and relaxation which has beneficial effects on the immune system and on blood pressure. Reiki helps to bring balance to all of the body’s systems. When the body is in a state of balance it is more likely to heal itself. For general health and wellness, a Reiki treatment induces the “relaxation response”.

The Relaxation Response involves body, mind, and emotions. It encourages enhanced integrated functioning of the body’s own natural healing system. A deep state of relaxation acts through the autonomic nervous system (that part of the peripheral nervous system that controls many organs, muscles, and glands in the body, and acts to maintain homeostasis in the body) to regulate blood pressure and heart rate and to relieve tension and anxiety. The brain waves shift from beta to alpha, indicative of deep, healing relaxation. This state of relaxation also expands the ability of the immune system to defend against viruses and bacteria. Further, the relaxation response stimulates the brain’s production of endorphins (the natural opiates) that act to decrease the perception of pain and create a sense of well being.

The blood flow to the muscles decreases, and is re-directed to the

brain and skin, producing a sensation of warmth and mental/ emotional serenity. As muscle tension decreases, the individual feels tranquil, calm, and serene.

Dr. Herbert Benson, in his pioneering book, The Relaxation Response, demonstrated that any form of mental concentration (be it chanting, meditation, yoga, Reiki) that distances the individual from his or her usual concerns and anxieties can produce deep, healing relaxation. Once our mind is clear of its chronic state of worry and fear, tranquility seems to be its natural state.

Reiki is used as a tool for the alleviation of problematic physical conditions and symptoms, be they acute or chronic. Examples include pain reduction; acceleration of healing of cuts, bruises, burns; acceleration of post -surgical healing; alleviation of side-effects of medications and medical treatments such as chemotherapy; improvement of blood pressure; improvement of sleep; strengthened immune system. Similarly, Reiki is used as a tool for the alleviation of emotional pain, stress, trauma, worry, anger, distress, anxiety, depression, and, really, any emotional suffering.

The Mental Level When one is in a state of balance stress is easier to handle and clarity in decision making is easier to attain. The recipient may experience an attitude shift, a creative insight, or a solution to a

vexing problem. The mind is sometimes called the “organ of misery” because it has the capacity to ruin our days, even our lives, with its incessant rambling and ruminating. Sometimes our minds just freak out, which then sets off a cascade of hormonal and chemical responses that compromise our physical and emotional health.

The Emotional Level The ups and downs of everyday life become more manageable when one is in a balanced state. Mikao Usui, the founder of the system of Reiki, conceived of Reiki as a system that heals our everyday stresses and worries, alleviating anxiety, fear, and depression.

The Spiritual Level A state of balance facilitates spiritual growth and selfdevelopment, allowing the individual to connect to his/her higher self or higher guidance.

Reiki supports us as we connect to an inner peace and serenity, as well as to a sense of oneness with others and the universe.

Reiki as a Practice and as a Life Path As a practice, Reiki is similar to meditation or yoga, in that a Reiki practitioner performs the elements of the system of Reiki every day for self-development and personal growth, as well as for overall mind and body wellness, so that we can bring our best selves to serve others.

Reiki as a life path means we ultimately strive to be Reiki; to embody Reiki. Reiki is a spiritual pathway to the experience of Oneness and connection. Reiki as a life path means a commitment to a life-long practice of Reiki meditations, daily self-Reiki, and integrating the Five Reiki Precepts* into our lives.

We can improve our health and wellbeing, and learn to care for others with the gentle transformative practice of Reiki. Reiki practice is a gift for all of us to benefit from. Whether we are seeking to reduce reactivity, to bring in new habits, to create an inner space for gratitude and compassion, or to gain relief from physical and emotional distress, Reiki can be effective.

4 Steps to finding your Practitioner *The Five Reiki Precepts To choose the Reiki professional that is a good fit for you, feel comfortable asking friends, relatives, co -workers for recommendation, or visit www.iarp.org (International Association of Reiki Professionals) to locate practitioners in your area, and then begin interviewing potential candidates.

First, you will want to ask what level and type of training they have. Although there is currently no regulation or standardization of Reiki training, in general there are three-four levels of Reiki training.

Second, you can ask how long they have been working with Reiki. If you are paying for Reiki services from a professional, you may want to find a practitioner with plenty of experience working on a wide variety of individuals.

Third, you will want to know how they personally use Reiki. For example, does the practitioner practice daily self-Reiki and the Reiki meditations? You want to find out if this person is continuing to use the system of Reiki for improvement of body, mind, and spirit for him/ herself.

Fourth, feel comfortable describing why you are seeking Reiki treatments and ask the practitioner how Reiki may be beneficial to you. Listen to the answer and see if it comes from a place of acceptance and non-judgment.

Most important of all, as you speak with each practitioner, check in with yourself as to whether you find yourself trusting this individual; feeling at ease with this individual; and feeling safe with this individual.

What exactly does it mean to be perfect?

Many say there is no such thing as ‘perfection.’ Others say there is nothing but ‘perfection’ in our world.

It is through the human body that I, a bodyworker, experience the truth and untruth of ‘perfect’ and ‘imperfect’ symmetry.

We are all designed a bit ‘off’ (just look at your face in the mirror, notice the difference between your left and right sides); there-in lies the ‘perfection’ of our design – we live in constant quest of attaining ‘perfect’ balance, yet the ‘imperfection’ is the ‘perfection.’ What meaning does this realization hold for you in your everyday life?

The reason I open this topic is to debunk the idea that you are less than ‘perfect,’ ever!

I believe that you are always exactly ‘where’ and ‘who’ you are supposed to be at any particular moment. Sometimes that may be a difficult concept to accept because you are unhappy with who you are, where you are, with what is happening around or ‘to you’… for a myriad of reasons. Unsettling, ‘bad,’ upsetting and tragic occurrences happen making you and everything feel ‘less than perfect’ in a ‘less than perfect’ world.

The irony here is that it is exactly this feeling of ‘less than perfect’ that prompts you to make plans, change your thinking and behavior, do great or small acts or deeds so you can shift, and be in a better ‘place,’ a better ‘state of mind’ - show up in a more positive, balanced fashion.

Your body, your ‘being,’ is designed to automatically self-correct, to steer towards balance by making choices and acting upon them to restore balance. For example, if you lose your footing, and begin to topple, your instinctual reaction is to find a way to steady yourself (you may throw your foot out in front of you, or grab onto a railing); your sense of being ‘off’ triggers your internal GPS to redirect.

Being designed this way, you go on in the ‘perfection’ of who you are. You are at once ‘a whole’ and ‘a part of the whole.’ What this means on a grander scale is that self-healing and repair is inherent in the design of all beings. We are programmed to deal with constant change, and to remain healthy and spry. Flexibility and changeability are life saving and optimal.

Voltaire (French satirical and philosophical writer of the Enlightenment Era) published his novella, Candide, in 1759. In it, Dr. Pangloss explains to Candide that everything happens for the best in the best of all possible worlds. Though it is written as satire, where Voltaire purposefully employs irony to ridicule society, I resonate with Dr. Pangloss’ message. His ‘creed’ gives me hope, and keeps me going as all will change, no doubt. All will come into balance; water will seek its own level, ‘perfectly.’

The myth of ‘being perfect,’ of ‘perfection,’ holds the idea that there is an endpoint, an ‘ultimate whole’ for which to strive. I contend that in a continuum, which is where we exist, there is never an endpoint or a best. There is, however, a better...

Yes, you can get a ‘perfect’ score on a math or history test, which deals with ‘facts.’ (I caution you to keep in 48

mind that those ‘facts’ may someday be challenged and proven inaccurate, incomplete or to some degree ‘off,’ i.e. ‘Is the world still flat?’) You can get a ‘perfect’ grade on an exam or a ‘perfect’ score in an Olympic sport; you can win an award for a ‘perfect’ performance in a film, or you can be touted as the ‘perfect’ wife, mother or sister. You may even come up with the ‘perfect’ solution to a problem. In all of these examples, is there a true, ultimate end point?

‘Perfection’ is an art, a subjective state. We are all creators and co-creators, thus, we are all artists of some sort. We are all ‘perfect.’ Finding our balance, honing our skills and expressing our truths are our ‘perfect’ acts.

As a bodyworker, life performance coach and fellow traveler on this journey of life, I see you as ‘perfect,’ and challenge you to hold yourself in that light as you employ your senses and your mindset to help you artfully direct change in your life; keep in mind the old cliché, ‘practice makes perfect;’ the ‘perfection’ is in the action taken.

Take a moment to sense and feel where you may be ‘off’ somehow; off the mark, blocked, in conflict, distress or pain. Allow this realization to organically spur you into action (as the out-breath naturally emerges from the in-breath). It may be as simple as shifting your position in your chair or as complex as changing careers. Either way, you will move from the perfection of this moment into the perfection of the next moment always.

Intended Miracle

“Did you meet someone?” Those were my mom’s famous words to me each and every time she saw me. She was my mom. She wanted the best for me. Her intent was completely unconditional.

The belabored breathing, the sporadic heaves of her chest with her eyes involuntarily twitching was an invitation to death. I sat on a plain chair, next to my mom’s lifeless body resting on a bed, watching her struggle in making her transition from the earthly plain to the other side of life. I tried to quiet the lobbing pain in my heart, as tears poured down my face. I held her thin hand, streaked with blue veins on skin so transparent. I was frightened that my touch would hurt her. Her hand did not flinch. I remained another 7 hours, grasping her fragile fingers, listening to the hum of my mom’s inhalations, and praying that she would gently pass. She waited. I finally left to go home to catch up on some sleep. Four hours later, I received a phone call from the hospice nurse. My mother just passed at 11:45pm, September 1st, my daughter’s birthday. It was a beautiful midnight, skies looming with stars; quiet, peaceful with a gentle wind whispering in the background. I could feel the drone of my breath as I entered the building. The throb of my heart grew in intensity as I neared my mother’s room. I saw enough death and dying in my lifetime, and I saw enough dead bodies to provide me with a mastership on how to handle death. My proficiency was defunct… lost…nil.

I walked inside the room. My mother was gone. No more grasping breaths. No more trembling eyelids. No more gurgling noises; complete, utter silence. I stared for what appeared to be an infinite amount of time. I could feel my entire body swell with overwhelming sorrow. I kissed her cheek, and told her that I would see her again one day. It felt as though my mother’s soul had lifted, her face reflecting a conciliation of sorts. I broke.

My mother was at peace. She looked lovely. I was a mess.

I have very fond memories of my parents 57

laughing and smiling together. The love they shared was genuine and playful. My father was exceptionally affectionate, and he would wrap his arms around my mother with such a fondness, mom would just crumble, laugh and two-step with him simultaneously. Witnessing such generosity of their hearts made me feel safe and equally as loved. The most important thing to my Dad was his family, and my mother reciprocated in kind.

Their relationship, certainly, was not without its glitches. Dad was in sales, and traveled often. Mom was usually manning the home front, while being the new face in an unfamiliar town. My father was excellent at what he did, and he was consistently promoted. Those advancements also came with more moves, uproots and new places to settle down in, with the settling being temporary. It was difficult for my mother to be extracted from an area she was just beginning to become accustomed to, however she was deeply in love with my father.

My dad also had his own storms to sift through.

The wear and tear of being on the road was isolating, and the yearning for companionship with my mother magnified. Knowing they both would see each other, igniting their love was what was constant and worth the wait.

My father was an only child. He was born to an immigrant father and an American-born mother, both whom eventually settled in the Bronx, a then comfortable borough of NYC back in the 30’s. My dad played stick ball on the streets, and was fiercely independent. He grew up quickly, as most city kids do. His parents loved him very much, but they both worked. Thus, my dad was often alone. I remember hearing my father saying to my mother how lonely he was as a kid. He always wanted more siblings. We were already a family of 4, Michael being my oldest brother and then myself, 17 months younger, and mom and dad. My father wanted to have more children, but my mother was comfortable having two.

Fourteen years later, my mother and father announced that they were pregnant. My father was overwhelmingly happy. Mom was a bit stunned, but not hesitant. After years of trying, both my parents were told they could never have another child. To this day, I never understood why they could not conceive. A new life developing inside my mother nullified everything the doctor told my parents.

Six months into the pregnancy, our family planned a vacation to Maine. That vacation never came to fruition. We were hit head on at 100 miles per hour by another driver, who lost control of his car. My father was dead. My mother, my brother and I were transported to a local hospital in Exeter, New Hampshire, with no expectation to survive.

Shortly thereafter, my brother and I were flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with the intent to save our lives, despite the grimness of our injuries. My mother ultimately was shipped by ambulance to Mass General a week later, where she shared a room with a nun who was to undergo surgery.

The doctor had come into see my mother, sharing the news that her husband was killed as was the family dog, and that both her children were not expected to live.

My mother’s belly was now protruding at six months, her whole entire life was completely altered, and the losses were simply too much to comprehend. It was a devastating place to be in, with no time allotted for recovery. My mother’s state of consciousness was unsettled, and any clarity was absent.

The universe works in magical ways.

The chances that my mother would be placed in a room where a nun was awaiting surgery were quite unlikely, given my mother’s circumstances. In fact, it would be presumed that, given my mother’s insurmountable loss in just one single day, a sanction for a private room would be obvious. The need for my mother to have her most private thoughts, without interruption, would be a priority.

This was no irony. There are amazing gifts in the struggle, yet very difficult to ascertain when we are in the throes of staggering anguish. My mother could not even contemplate raising another child knowing

that her husband just died, and her two children were hanging on to mere threads of life. It simply was too much. Nothing would suffice for the staggering pain infiltrating my mother’s heart, not even another child.

As time pressed on, my mother began to form a very beautiful and poignant relationship with this Nun. In her most despairing moments, my mother was able to share her deepest fears, most discretional and contemplative thoughts with a person she barely knew. They had a common bond: a shared room. No matter what brought them there, they shared this room because they were supposed to. Every day, the Nun simply listened to my mother without reserve. She wept with my mother, held my mother and allowed my mother to be exactly where she needed to be. That room became a sanctuary of pure, unconditional love, a space that was protected and safeguarded from ravaged torment and loss. For my mother, this room became a safe haven, albeit the pain that was imminent outside of those four walls.

Through the lens of human reason, horrible things happen. Through the lens of universal understanding, horrendous things happen as a path to collectively stretch ourselves beyond our limitations, one person, one-light-bulb moment at a time. Initially, and maybe never, this was too much for my mother to comprehend. What really would be the gift for my mother in this horrible tragedy?

What gift could my mother truly claim in her darkest hours? Would it even be possible for my mother to have more love in her heart, despite the loss of her husband, her dog and the potential deaths of her two children? In one sweeping moment, the Nun offered this: “This child, a gift from God, is here to offer you the grace and love like gentle breezes, giving you inner strength and peace and patience for your journey ahead. He knows 59

you will not betray his trust, or dampen his hope or discourage his dreams. God will assist you in helping this child become all you mean to him.� Three months later, my mother gave birth to a beautiful, healthy, perfect, little boy.

Miracles happen every day. They do.

They really do. Surrendering ourselves to the possibility of a miracle opens us up to limitless possibilities, even if we are unable to understand them. With gentle acceptance, regardless of how excruciatingly painful, we are able to stretch ourselves beyond any usual limitation that we hold. Whatever we are experiencing in the moment is exactly what we are supposed to. In many respects, stepping into that unchartered territory becomes the gift, and later the Miracle.

Life does not provide us with the answers or the journey we thought we should have had. Letting go is acceptance in disguise,

despite our circumstances. As our daily pulse of living and trusting becomes more vivid, we can then rally with ourselves and the unexpected can be dispersed into a gentle faith.

I walked out of Massachusetts General

Hospital on crutches, after being told I would never walk again or be able to have children. I have since run marathons and I have two amazing children, both girls, now young women. My older brother walked beside me out of that hospital, along with my mother with doctors applauding our recovery.

A Sufi Master once said to me: “The only time we are ever awake is when we die.� I decided I did not want to wait that long.

Today, I am the proud grandmother of two beautiful little girls.

At the age of 18 I entered religious life becoming a Catholic nun. Twenty-five years later I left that life. Several years after leaving the life I knew for so long, I fell in love and married. A hysterectomy prevented me from knowing the struggles, joy, heartbreak, exhilaration, turmoil or love seen through the eyes of a mother looking at one of their own. My marriage changed all that, blessing me with not only a loving husband, but a loving daughter.

I would never know what it was like to birth a child, though I have come to understand birthing a life.

I have always been a mother of sort, feeling responsible for the care of others, and always overwhelmed with guilt when it came to putting myself before anyone in need. That is probably why I chose a religious life, and just as probably, why I had to leave it.

After years of neglecting myself, denying the fulfillment of my own needs, and putting myself always in the middle of relationships that were heading straight towards crisis, I realized that what I had chosen for myself was beyond my mending.

As a religious person, I have always looked inward, but what I discovered after years of feeling unfulfilled was that I was looking at the wrong me. I was looking at an image of me that was completely created by me. It was, in essence, what I wanted to see, and more importantly, what I wanted others to see. As God revealed my true me through trials, struggles, pain, and loss, much the same as was revealed to St. John of the Cross in his Dark Night of the Soul, I came to realize what I had known right along: gold is made pure in fire. This powerful statement rested near to my heart. St John wrote, "In the evening of life, we will be judged on love alone." How incredibly fine, exquisitely simple that at this stage of my life my focus need only be centered in love.

Recently while gazing out my living room window, watching a most glorious sunset over the bay, I understood fully that I embrace my own truth, and embrace the joy which comes with letting go of fear and letting in the voice of my own heart.

I recalled a time when I wondered how many decades I would live. Today, I wonder how many days, hours and minutes as I choose to embrace them all as "gold made pure."

The realization of this took many years, never conscious that I was learning, never seeing what simply lay before my 66

eyes. Writing Voices of the Heart, my memoir, was part of a healing process, and a turning point in my understanding and acceptance of who I am as a person. I wrote it as a celebration of discovery, never knowing that I was writing something that would tenderly touch others, and become a source of healing for them as well. Anyone who has experienced loss or pain, and reads Voices of the Heart, walks with me in my words, and discovers the power of unconditional love.

Isn't it true, we are in this life together? It could not be any different. All the elements of life allow for unconditional love to grow. That is the alchemy of love. The birth of a life well lived begins when trusting love is at our core.

This love is the pure gold, the original alchemy, and what is the essence of our creation. It took me some time to give myself permission to live in my truth. It was not difficult to understand where I came from. It was challenging to let that truth arise in me deeply.

To live in my unique and purposeful truth I needed to embrace my life, not resist it.

For me the window was looking in the eyes of my granddaughters. You'll look to that which inspires you. We'll end up understanding we are loved, and we are love.

Linda was born on October 29, 1948 in Dover, New Hampshire. She received her master’s degree in creation spirituality from Holy Names College in Oakland, California, and furthered her studies in clinical pastoral education at the Interfaith Healthcare Ministries in Providence, Rhode Island.

She is a certified bereavement facilitator, and received certification for spiritual direction from the Mercy Center of Colorado. She is best known for designing successful retreat experiences for groups of all sizes interested in personal empowerment and healing.
