Theodore Gray | Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019 | 7:30 p.m.

Writer, chemist, and educator Theodore Gray is the co-founder of Wolfram Research, Inc, makers of Mathematica, and author of The Elements, an internationally best-selling book on the beauty of the periodic table, translated into 25 languages. He's known for his work in engaging the scientific community and the public together, and for creating the Wooden Periodic Table Table, a four-legged physical representation of the periodic table.

OLMECA | Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 | 7:30 p.m.

Described as “a 21st century Shaman” by Vice Magazine, Olmeca is a Hip-Hop Artist, producer, and activist known for creating bilingual Hip-Hop songs that uniquely blend musical genres and cultural sensitivity. A talented performing artist, he’s toured across Canada, Europe, and South America, earning praise and appeal across cultures and demographics. He currently teaches at the University of Nevada and is actively involved in intersectional social commentary and community efforts.

Dolen Perkins-Valdez | Monday, Feb. 3, 2020 | 7:30 p.m.

Author and educator Dolen Perkins-Valdez is best known for her best-selling debut novel Wench, a story set in the 1850s that follows the lives of four enslaved black mistresses from the South who vacation with their masters each summer at an Ohio resort in the free North. A complicated novel that explores the moral complexities of slavery, Wench was awarded the First Novelist Award by the Black Caucus of the American Library in 2011.

Modern Warrior Live (MWL) | Friday, April 10, 2020 | 7:30 p.m.

The story and sound of a combat veteran's journey, Modern Warrior Live is a musical drama about one veteran's experience when returning to civilian life and his recovery from trauma. Narrated by co-creator Staff Sergeant Jaymes Poling, who spent three years in Afghanistan, the production shares an emotional journey rife with the challenges of military service, the psychological weight of war, the struggles of transitioning back to civilian life, and the potential for positive growth after returning home.

By bringing fine and performing arts, live music and film, and culinary and beverage arts downtown, we are preserving the history and heritage of the space and growing education and workforce development to downtown Olympia.
