Concertgoers thoroughly enjoyed an evening of Celtic-inspired music on Saturday, July 11 at the Sunset Amphitheatre at Seacliff Park.

The free outdoor concert featured opening performer Andrew MacLeod, followed by Mary Frances Leahy performing with her full band.

Singer-songwriter Andrew MacLeod draws on the storytelling traditions of his Cape Breton roots and the industrial spirit of Windsor and Detroit. He is known for his gritty vocals, thoughtful songwriting, and dynamic stage presence.

Mary Frances Leahy is a gifted fiddler, pianist, dancer and vocalist who has been captivating audiences since childhood. The daughter of Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, she blends her Celtic roots with musical influences from Latin America and beyond.

The evening was part of the Music Onthe42 Summer Concert Series offering free musical entertainment on Saturday evenings at the Sunset Amphitheatre at Seacliff Park. The Saturday, July 18 concert will present openers The 519 Band at 7:30 p.m., followed by headliner Rick LaBonte & Band of Brothers at 8:30.

Recently, Postmedia, the company that owns the Windsor Star, announced that it will be discontinuing flyer distribution across Canada. Unfortunately, this decision was communicated with very little notice and will have a significant impact on how our newspaper will be distributed going forward.

The reality is that delivering a lightweight newspaper on its own presents significant logistical challenges. The weight of the flyer package helped ensure newspapers landed properly and consistently at homes. Without those flyers, newspapers and bags are much more susceptible to blowing away, creating litter concerns and increasing the likelihood of missed deliveries.

We want to be responsible members of the community and do not want to see newspapers and plastic bags blowing through neighbourhoods or ending up where they do not belong. After careful consideration, we have determined that continuing door-to-door delivery under these circumstances is simply not practical.

As a result the Southpoint Sun will no longer be delivered door-to-door in Leamington.

We understand this change may be disappointing, and we ask for your patience as we work through this unexpected transition. Our team is currently expanding our network of newspaper boxes and pickup locations throughout Leamington to ensure the Southpoint Sun remains easily accessible to our readers.

A current list of pickup locations will be published regularly in the newspaper and updated as new locations are added.

Please note that newspaper delivery to apartment buildings and senior living facilities will not be affected and will continue as usual.

Rebates for Royal Canadian Legions in Ontario

The Ontario government is providing full rebates to eligible Royal Canadian Legion branches in Ontario that are applying for or renewing their liquor sales licences.

The rebate program took effect on June 1 and applies retroactively to April 1, 2026.

“Chatham-Kent-Leamington Legions have a

long history of serving veterans and strengthening our community,” said Trevor Jones, MPP for Chatham-Kent-Leamington. “Our government is proud to support legions by reducing costs so they can continue investing in the people, programs and services that matter most to veterans and local families.”

This year’s Kingsville Vintage Garden Tour was an immersion for the senses, from beautiful sights full of tranquil greenery and colourful foliage to the sweet sounds of live music played by a harp and violins, and to the smells of floral scents and for the tastebuds, pastries at High Tea. “We are honoured to have Chef John Yilmaz create our High Tea featuring delectable savouries, scones and sweets, plus a selection of teas,” said Annette Cooper of the Horticultural Society on Sunday morning at the tour.

She said the tour featured nine private gardens, two businesses and three town gardens over two days, July 11 and 12.

Volunteers were dressed in period costumes to create an immersive experience that combines horticulture with history, she added.

The vintage High Tea was served at Kingsville Legion’s Banquet Hall surrounded by an indoor garden and KHS Member Flower Show. An added feature this year included the War Memorial Museum.

Cooper said plans are already underway for next year’s tour.

Eats, beats and art-filled streets at Mill Street Market

By Paul Forman Celebrating the cultural mosaic that is Leamington, the July 10 Mill Street Market was filled with the sounds and smells from a diverse collection of ethnicities.

A Hispanic flair came from the musical entertainment of Sabor Latino and Julian Rodriquez, while many foods could be sampled, including some traditional dishes from the Leamington Portuguese Club, at the market for the first time this year.

Providing for that diverse population is South Essex Community Council (SECC) and their new Give Back Collection that was on display and being sold at the market. Featuring art created by SECC team member Natasha Schartner, the collection’s vintage inspired t-shirts and canvas bags generate funds that are used in the many programs that SECC offers to help seniors, youth and newcomers.

Those looking for a bit of local history to wear or to carry will have another opportunity to buy from the Give Back Collection at the upcoming Arts at the Marina later this month.

New at the Mill Street Market this year is something that would appeal to anyone that would like to gain a better understanding of the history behind the development of Leamington’s downtown area.

Organized by the Uptown Leamington BIA, historical walks led by the renown Veronica Brown are providing a three-part series that are both informative and entertaining.

For the July walk, Brown focused on Leamington’s four corners and the changes seen from the early 1900s until the early ’60s.

“I share local history because I believe it’s important to explore how we got here,” she said. “Decisions were made in the past that directly influence our present. Plus, I like to share fun and interesting stories to prove that history isn’t boring.”

The final walk in the historical series will take place on August 14 with a look at the downtown area from the ’60s until the present time.

Let’s enjoy the summer for what it’s worth, shall we?

As summer seems to fly past leaving the glory days behind, I just can’t help believing that seasons in the sun help cleanse the soul — more than a feeling, it’s a time of the season to celebrate all that is in the summertime.

As kids run and play up on the roof or under the boardwalk, those memories will be made forever. Young people like to enjoy time in the sun, on the beach or just sittin’ on the dock of the bay.

Others enjoy hanging out down on the corner, while

some prefer to relax with a good book, getting lost in the story until it’s time to turn the page.

And if we could save time in a bottle, wouldn’t we like to make that happen?

Think of all the people we think we never can say goodbye to. Think of those who left us years ago and those who may leave us years from now.

If I could turn back time, it would be among the first things I’d do, just to travel those country roads and feel the sunshine on my shoulders.

I would treasure a conversation with my dad and see the look in my father’s eyes when he meets even more of his great-grandchildren. The same goes for my mom, who would have loved to be around for this time in their lives.

But, alas, it’s not to be.

You have to rely on the instinct to teach your children well and hope that they carry on with those memories through the years.

And that’s the way I always heard it should be. Life doesn’t have to be

Back in June,1985, Bryan Adams’ first major North American hit, “Heaven”, ascended to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart two years after it was recorded for the film “A Night in Heaven”.

The film starred Christopher Atkins as a male stripper and Lesley Ann Warren as the college professor who falls for him.

Although the movie was heavily panned by critics, it was Adams’ song on the soundtrack that resonated with audiences and Heaven became a hit.

By that time, Adams had sold over 100,000 copies of his album “Cuts Like A Knife”.

Bryan and his music partner Jim Vallance wrote “Heaven” in Vancouver and demonstrated it in Jim’s basement studios.

They were really excited about it even though Bryan was feeling ill during its completion. By the time the film and soundtrack album were released, Adams career had really heated up. While it was acknowledged that the film was a colossal failure, Bryan’s music career was really taking off.

Car show brings back great memories Rosewood Erie Glen held its annual Classic Car Show on June 17 hosted by Gino DelCiancio and the Leamington Area Classic Cruisers.

The event is held each year to mark Seniors Month and featured free hotdogs, a popcorn machine and music with the popular Crystal Gage.

Over 100 people enjoyed the evening of nostalgia and summer fun with over 30 classic vehicles with their bright colours and loud engines that brought back some great memories for many of the seniors.

Caldwell First Nation signs education partnerships

Caldwell First Nation has taken an important step toward expanding access to education and strengthening opportunities for lifelong learning through the signing of new adult education partnership agreements with Fanshawe College and the Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB).

The partnerships reflect a shared commitment to removing barriers to education and creating accessible pathways for Caldwell First Nation members and the broader community to achieve their educational and career goals.

Through these collaborations, adult learners will have greater access to high school completion, upgrading opportunities, post-secondary pathways, and skills development that support employment and personal growth.

The signing ceremony, held at the Caldwell First Nation Administration Building, brought together the Chief and Council, representatives from Fanshawe College and the Greater Essex County District School Board, community members and staff to celebrate this milestone.

“Education is a powerful tool for strengthening our Nation and creating opportunities for future generations,” said Chief Nikki van Oirschot of Caldwell First Nation. “These partnerships reflect our commitment to supporting lifelong learning and ensuring our members have access to quality educational opportunities that meet them where they are. We are grateful to Fanshawe College and the Greater Essex County District School Board for working alongside us to invest in the success of our community.”

The agreements establish a collaborative framework that will help adult learners pursue educational goals in an inclusive and culturally respectful environment.

By working together, Caldwell First Nation, Fanshawe College, and the Greater Essex County District School board organizations aim to support individuals who wish to complete secondary education, pursue post-secondary studies, enhance workplace skills, or continue their personal learning journeys.

Representatives from Fanshawe College and the Greater Essex County District School Board also recognized the significance of the partnerships and their shared commitment to empowering learners through accessible education.

The partnerships are part of Caldwell First Nation’s ongoing efforts to invest in community well-being, workforce development, and educational excellence. By fostering strong relationships with educational institutions, the Nation continues to build pathways that support self-determination, economic prosperity, and longterm success for its members.

Rick LaBonte & The Band of Brothers headline summer concert on July 18

Rick LaBonte & The Band of Brothers take the stage with high-energy rock on Saturday, July 18 at the Sunset Amphitheatre in Seacliff Park as part of the Music Onthe42 Summer Concert Series.

Presented by the Municipality of Leamington in partnership with The Bank Theatre, the free outdoor concert begins at 7:00 PM with local opener 519 Band, followed by Rick LaBonte & The Band of Brothers.

A Windsor music legend, Rick LaBonte is a singer-songwriter who was in-

ducted into the Windsor Musicians Hall of Fame in 2017. Backed by his Band of Brothers, LaBonte is known for delivering high-energy performances featuring rock hits from every decade alongside original music.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Refreshments will be available for purchase on-site.

This Friday, July 17, Wheatley Legion will celebrate the Royal Canadian Legion’s 100th birthday from 5-7 p.m. with live music by Wheatley’s own Terry “Lager” Lobzun. Light snacks will be provided by the Ladies Auxiliary. Everyone is welcome!

The Wheatley Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Wheatley Swans will be providing a lunch combo throughout the summer to the participants in the Talbot Trail Junior Golf program. A great example of community groups coming together to support local youth programs.

There was a good turnout at the first Karaoke Night at the new Legion and by all reports a great time was had by all!

The next Fun Darts Night is Friday, July 17 at Wheatley Legion. Sign-up is at 7 p.m. and play begins at 7:15. Anyone interested in playing darts is welcome to come out and join the fun.

There was a full house at the Meat Draw on Saturday.

Winners were Debbie Marentette, Karen Horne, Monique Ford (2), Chris Seranian (2), Hilda Tuffin, Marie Andrews, Gloria Sheldon and Sue Adamson, who won the Taylor Fish Company gift card and also pulled her own ticket to win the Loop Fisheries gift certificate.

Dan Braatz won the Ladies Auxiliary 50/50 draw and very generously donated almost all of it back to the L.A. Saturday, July 18 is the 100-Year Anniversary Extra Special Meat Draw. Tickets go on sale at 3 p.m. and the draws start at 3:30. You don’t want to miss it!

The Branch is open Monday through Thursday at 3 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 12 noon, and closed on Sunday. The hours are subject to change and may be revised, depending on customer traffic. The Branch’s new phone number is 226-826-2977.

Know the e-bike rules

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are issuing a reminder to the public of the rules and regulations governing e-bikes before taking to the road or trail this summer.

As the use of e-bikes continues to grow across communities in West Region, it is important for riders to recognize that e-bike – also known as power-assisted bicycles – are subject to Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act and Ontario Regulation 369/09.

To be legally operated, an e-bike must meet the following requirements: • Be equipped with operable pedals • Have an electric motor rated at 500 watts or less • Have a maximum assisted speed of 32 km/h • Weigh no more than 120 kg, including the battery • Be equipped with two independent braking systems • Have the battery and motor securely fastened to the frame • Have all electrical terminals properly insulated • Meet all Ontario equipment standards E-bike riders must also be at least 16 years of age, wear an approved bicycle or motorcycle helmet, follow the same rules of the road as cyclists, and refrain from riding on controlled-access highways.

Riders should also be aware that municipalities may have additional bylaws or restrictions in place that limit where e-bikes can be used, including on certain pathways, trails or waterfront areas. Always watch for posted signage and follow local regulations.

Unlike motor vehicles, e-bike operators are not required to have a driver’s licence, vehicle registration, licence plates or insurance.

As more residents turn to e-bikes as a convenient and environmentally friendly mode of transportation, the OPP encourages all riders to prioritize safety, remain aware of their surroundings, and respect the rules of the road.

Traffic safety is a shared responsibility. By understanding and following the laws, riders can help ensure safe and enjoyable travel for everyone.

Monday Night Music sessions have returned to the Peace Garden at the Leamington United Mennonite Church at 78 Oak Street East with the first Monday kicking off with The Baileys performing. British Invasion at Two Creeks

If you love the music of the British ’60s, including The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dave Clark Five, Herman’s Hermits, the Yardbirds and lots of other British bands, you’ll love British Beat 66! These perennial favourites take the Two Creeks stage on Sunday, July 19 at 6 p.m. Admission is free, but the hat is passed to help offset costs. Food and drink are available from the Scouts. Two Creeks Conservation Area is on Kent Road 1, a kilometre north of Wheatley.

The monthly Seniors’ Advisory Committee free event was a musical one on Wednesday, July 8 as the Common Ground Duo —Andrea and Mike — entertained about 30 people at the gazebo at Rick Atkin Park. The Leamington Seniors Advisory Committee holds monthly events for the public — usually at the Half Century Centre.

July 1986 - Labatt’s Breweries were a big part of the weekend program to mark the Campers Cove 25th anniversary and were on hand wherever possible to help make various events a success. Labatt representative Gary Brooks was a big asset with the mobile sound system and the Labatt Balloon was at the recreation grounds and at the campground to give an exciting ride to as many people as time and weather permitted.

Submarine cycling - Ditches rose foot after foot following the Thursday evening rainfall and these young lads wasted no time inventing a new game, “submarine cycling”. If nothing else, it’s a quick way to wash a ten-speed bicycle!

From the Leamington Post July 13, 1983 Mersea Township Council is pressing the Provincial and Federal governments to provide financial assistance for shoreline protection along Marentette Beach.

Concern has been expressed about the threat posed to property by the high level of Lake Erie. Storm-driven waves cascade through several openings in breakwalls along the East Beach between Concessions C and D. The private road is frequently washed out, and farmers fear a possible break of the dyke protecting 700 acres of low-lying muckland.

—— Ontario Hydro has cancelled plans for a major power line just west of Hwy 77 to serve the southeastern part of Essex County. Leamington and Mersea Township have been advised that based on recent load forecasts and current economic constraints, the proposed electrical supply will not be needed before 1994.

—— The greenhouse tomato market remains strong with more than 100,000 baskets moved last week, report officials of the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Producers Marketing Board. Seedless cucumber market was said to be good, although competition from local field cucumbers is increasing.

—— The Highway 3 bypass is now open from Ruthven to Maidstone. The latest section was built at a cost of $6 million and extends 10 miles (16 km). Future traffic volume will determine a timetable for completing the bypass north of Leamington to a point where it rejoins Hwy 3 just east of town.

—— The Leamington District Chamber of Commerce recently decided to give new businesses in the Leamington area a free membership. Membership Committee chairman Terry Misener presented Ken Grainger of Waterbed Boutiques with the first membership decal for his store on Mill St. West.

From the Kingsville Reporter July 13, 1983 Early estimates of $40,000 damage are projected in a fire that occurred at Guido’s Steak House & Tavern on July 12.

The fire started in a utility room at the rear of the upper storey and it is figured it had to be burning for at least one hour before it was called in at 3:20 p.m. A heavy concentration of flames was at the upper rear of the building and spread in the attic. The cause of the fire is accidental. Fumes from a paint can in the utility room were ignited by the burner on a hot water tank.

—— Kingsville Legion Branch 188 received the book “100 Years, The Royal Regi-

ment, 1883-1983” celebrating the Regiment’s 100th birthday this past weekend. The book was presented to Charles Campbell by Joseph Aitchison, who will assume the title of Lieutenant-Colonel on July 20 when he takes command of the 2nd RCR Battalion. The unit will be taken to Gage Town in Cyrpess for six months in October. Lieutenant-Colonel Aitchison was a student at Kingsville District High School and was commanding officer in the KDHS Cadet Corp.

—— The Kingsville-Gosfield South Arena’s Sports Camp IV got underway July 11 at the arena. To end the hot humid day, an ice-cream eating contest was held with Len Filiault winning among his group, which also included Jeff Kartye, Amy Welker, Len Filiault, David Thistle and Tim Carder.

—— The Kingsville Lions Carnival runs for three entire days and nights – July 21, 22 and 23 – providing rides, refreshments and entertainment for the young and old. The annual Horticultural Show will be judged during this time. Live musical entertainment will feature “Blue Collar” on Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday night “The” will perform.

From the Wheatley Journal July 13, 1983 The Wheatley Omsteads will take a leave of absence from the OHA Seaway League for the 1983-84 season and enter the newly formed South Essex Hockey League. The league will have two divisions, east and west, with four teams in each. The West will be comprised of McGregor, Harrow, Woodslee and Kingsville, while the East will consist of Leamington Datsun, Leamington Bulldogs, Essex and the Wheatley Omsteads.

—— Rev. Matthew Penny was inducted into the Romney Pastoral Charge at a special event at Trinity United Church.

The two-point Charge includes Talbot Street United Church as well as Trinity.

Rev. Penny and his wife Carol are both Maritimers, born and raised in New Brunswick. The Pennys and their twoyear-old son Andrew moved into the parsonage on Little Street a week ago.

—— Farm News: It’s not good. Most clay cornfields are a disaster. Beans have had late plantings, poor germination and a great deal of herbicide burn. We surely don’t need a September frost this year.

Many of the pea growers didn’t get their crop planted, and the few who did wish they hadn’t. Tomatoes “scalded” after the June 28 and 30th rains, and the fields are in sad condition. Wheat looks good, but we never count on it until it is safely down the chute at the elevator. It’s one of those years.

It was a historic weekend for Leamington Minor Baseball as both the 10U and 12U Lakers squads captured tournament gold at the London Talons Baseball Tournament.

For the Leamington Lakers 10U team, this past weekend, July 10-12, was the culmination of a threeyear journey. After competing in London for three consecutive summers, the squad finally broke through to clinch their first-ever Talons title in dominant fashion.

The 10U team opened their campaign on Friday with a 10-5 win over the Lucan-Ilderton A’s. They kept the momentum rolling through Saturday, shutting down the Welland Junior Jackfish 4-2 and overwhelming the Sarnia Brigade 13-0.

Sunday’s playoff rounds showcased the Lakers’ elite defense. They defeated the Vaughan Vikings 15-6 in the morning before blanking the Lakeshore Whitecaps 9-0.

Leamington saved their most complete performance for the championship game, once again dismantling the Welland Junior Jackfish in a decisive 12-4 victory to finally lift the elusive gold trophy.

The 12U Lakers matched their younger club’s golden success, capping off their weekend with a dramatic, come-from-behind 12-11 walk-off victory against the DKMB Rivercats.

The 12U team went 2-1 in round-robin play, defeating the Amherstburg Cardinals 11-4 and the Lucan-Ilderton A’s 11-7, while dropping a tight 10-8 decision to the Guelph Royals. On Sunday, they caught fire, cruising past the Tecumseh Rangers 13-3 and the host London Talons 12-5.

The championship final was an instant classic. The Lakers fell behind early, trailing 9-2 in the second inning. Undeterred, Leamington staged a massive midgame comeback before the Rivercats pulled back ahead 11-10.

Fueling the dugout was some of the newly-crowned 10U championship team who stayed at the diamond to cheer on the older club. The loud cheering section featured an extra layer of family ties, including three pairs of siblings playing across the two golden rosters.

Down to their final outs in the bottom of the sixth, the 12U Lakers fed off the energy. Hunter Chambers delivered a dramatic two-run double to walk it off 1211 and seal the dual-championship weekend for Leamington.

WHEATLEY SWANS SUPPORT JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM The Wheatley Swans donated $500 to the Wheatley Junior Golf Program for young ones of all ages at Talbot Trail Golf Course. Under the guidance of Junior Golf coordinators Phil Guenther, Jessica Coulter and Nicole Coulter, 125 happy kids enjoyed their opening day with a hot dog, chips and a drink to wind up the morning. This is a huge undertaking and with the help of approximately 30 volunteers, the future of golf in Wheatley is in good hands!

While he has not lived with cats before, slow and careful introductions may help him successfully adjust to a feline companion.

One of Koda’s many strengths is that he is already house-trained and crate-trained. With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, we believe he has the potential to continue growing in confidence and become a wonderful companion.

By Bob McLean On July 7 there were 49 members of the Talbot Trail senior men’s league who had fun on a beautiful weather day for their senior golf.

Bill Ward shot a masterful 35 to lead the field. He had birdies on #2, #7 and #9. Exceptional effort, BW! John Hall drained a lengthy putt on #2 to win the LP. Ken Kreuger continued his CP winning way on #9 as his outstanding shot ended up a mere five feet from the pin.

Ken Kreuger placed second with his impressive 39, and Jim Pearson continued his excellent play by shooting a 41. Gary Hillier, Bob Redel and Joe Drummond achieved terrific 42s. Nasher and Bobo produced superb 43s. Other impressive results of 45 or less were scored by these players: Fuzzy and Dutchy 44s, Jamie Arquette and Pat Hill 45s.

Praiseworthy results under 50 were merited by these participants: Rick Thompson, Paul Carioli, Larry

Schmidt, George Charko, Ron McCracken, Chopper and Dave Clark. There were five nifty 50 results produced

by Rick (Trigger) Dibbley, David Tonks, Ray Foster, Ken Womack and super senior Tom Hyatt.

Paul Brown, Andy Gould, Lloyd Symons, Al Wass, Charlie Wolf and Jerry Paine had commendable results.

In the super senior silver division, Joe Vrtel fired a very praiseworthy 49. Tom Hyatt was a mere one shot back after playing another solid game.

In the gold division, Dave Overholt (OV) shot a very noteworthy 46. Other satisfying games from the gold super seniors came from Andy Orsini, Neil Adamson, Gary Wilson and Gerry Becigneul.

Members will be travelling to Willow Ridge on July 20 and then enjoying their second scramble on the 21st.

K.G.C.C. ladies’ 18-hole league hosts Better Ball Invitational

On Tuesday, July 7, the ladies of the Kingsville Golf & Country Club 18Hole League did themselves proud as they hosted 86 participants in their biennial event, the Better Ball Invitational. All their attention to detail extended to the prize table; out of 86 golfers, 70 won gross and net prizes.

Here are the 1st place winners in each flight: Flight A: 1st Gross: Marlene Sinclair and Jackie Lively. 1st Net: Sharon Gu and Yan Gong.

Flight B: 1st Gross: Anita Gorick and Helen

Dupuis. 1st Net: Shirley Jacuzzi and Carmen Chevalier.

Flight C: 1st Gross: Cindy Morel and Kelly Bellemore. 1st Net: Sandy Duncan and Pam Skillings.

Flight D: 1st Gross: Therese Miller and Connie Ferguson. 1st Net: Kathy Patterson and Jo-Anne Sokolowski.

Kudos to League President Fran Wasyliniuk and her task-oriented committee: Co-Captain Shirley Jacuzzi, Mary Rewucki, Jean Page, Lucille Kraus, Laurie Kovacs and Sandy Duncan (who made the cute golf bags).

League members stepped up, too, as sponsors, bakers, raffle prize donors.

This humble writer enjoyed the hot competition (less so the steamy day), and loved the celebrity spectators: a twitchy fawn on #7 Gold and a posse of nonchalant wild turkeys on #3 Red.

The Municipality of Leamington has reached out to Canadian soccer hero Stephen Eustaquio after his stellar World Cup play.

Officials penned a letter to the Leamington-born soccer star after his sudden burst onto the world stage and he responded with a heartfelt thanks to his hometown.

“We were thrilled to hear from Stephen and grateful for his thoughtful response,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. “Watching Stephen represent Canada on the world stage was an incredibly proud moment for our community, and it meant a great deal to know how much our community’s support has meant to him.

Mayor MacDonald said that Stephen’s soccer commitments prevent him from visiting right now, but he would welcome the opportunity to return.

“While we understand his club commitments must come first, we’re so pleased to know he wants to celebrate with the community when the time is right,” added MacDonald. “We look forward to that opportunity and, until then, Leamington will continue cheering him on wherever soccer takes him.”

Kingsville Friendly Club play results There were 39 members who came out to play cards at the Kingsville Friendly Club on July 7.

There were 64 members who enjoyed their games of cards on July 10.

The Friendly Club meets every Tuesday and Friday at the Lions Hall, 21 Mill St. West. Doors open at noon and play starts at 12:45 sharp, followed by social time at 3:15.
