Dear members, neighbors, and friends: There are two areas with explosive growth for 2015 and 2016. They are Southpointe II and the Racetrack Road corridor. First, consider all the new hotels - Holiday Inn Express & Suites Washington-Meadowlands, Microtel Inn & Suites, and the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh South/Meadows Racetrack & Casino- and with more likely to be built.

Combine all that with new restaurants (Primanti’s and Napoli’s) and the soon-to- open Markook Authentic Mediterranean Eats, El Paso Mexican Restaurant and Buford’s Kitchen), a variety of new lodging and dining choices are now available. The Meadows Casino, Tanger Outlets and the shops at Park Place make this an excellent location for business, entertainment and shopping. With the new apartments at ‘The Street at the Meadows’ in the final stages of completion, you can now live in the center of all this excitement. Our Racetrack Road Business Association is in the 4th year and pleased to have seen the opportunities early on and helped to promote and contribute to the growth.

Business in Review:

The Meadows Racetrack & Casino (www.meadowsgaming.com), prominently located on the Racetrack Road Corridor (Washington, Pennsylvania), is arguably the largest company in the area – both in terms of revenue and number of employees. The Meadows is owned

by Cannery Casino Resorts (www.cannerycasino.com), which also owns and operates Cannery Casino & Hotel in North Las Vegas and Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas.

TripAdvisor (www.tripadvisor.com) rates The Meadows with 3.5 stars, based on 349 current reviews. TripAdvisor also ranks The Meadows as “#3 of 15 things to do in Washington,” after the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum (#1) and the Tanger Outlets (#2). The Tanger Outlets is situated within less than one mile from The Meadows.

According to the June 2015 statewide visitor survey conducted by visitPAcasinos.com, The Meadows generated the highest average score of 36.38, which equates to “Above Average.” Downtown Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino came out as #6, with an average score of 33.74 (“Average”). Attributes surveyed included initial impression, customer service, gaming experience, players club experience, food and beverage offerings, cleanliness, and overall customer experience.

The Meadows has a dedicated Executive Host for Asian casino players - Mr. Wesley Poon. In a recent conversation with Mr. Poon, he indicated that the revenue from Asian gamers has increased significantly for the same time period from last year. I have witnessed Mr. Poon at work, and his promptness and sense of urgency are drawing in affluent Asians to The Meadows. When it comes to customer service, I have also seen a very efficient work, with particular mention to Ms. Cherrie Sears, who is the Customer Service Representative for all casino clients.

The Meadows offers many and various activities, games, drawings, giveaways (cash, car, novelty items, etc.), as well as a number of exciting slot machine and table game promotions. One of the upcoming promotions is the “Trip to Las Vegas,” which includes an all-expense paid getaway to Las Vegas, at the Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel. Another anticipated event is the “Holiday Shopping Extravaganza,” where players can earn shopping dollars and redeem them for different gift items.

When it comes to online presence, The Meadows is active on several social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. It also has the “webPASS eADVANTAGE” online program, offering players another way to gain “webCREDITS,” which can be redeemed for a variety of items including Sarris Candies, Starbuck’s Coffee, and ice cream, among other things.

I tend to agree with the survey results from visitPAcasinos.com. If I may offer a couple of suggestions, these would be: have more new slot machine games more often, and have another “Self-serve Beverage Station” in the north side of the casino, so that players in and near the “Clubhouse” will have an easier access to their beverage of choice.
