What was once a corporate campus on Charlotte’s southern edge has transformed into one of the city’s most vibrant and fast-growing communities. Ballantyne offers the ability to live, work and play without ever leaving the neighborhood, thanks to a mix of housing, commerce, dining, retail and green space.
At the heart of its transformation is Ballantyne Reimagined, a large-scale development initiative from commercial real estate firm Northwood that’s designed to bring more walkability, culture and connection to the area. With new parks, public art, outdoor entertainment and mixed-use spaces continuing to open, Ballantyne is actively reshaping what suburban life in Charlotte can look like. And with exciting additions like The Bowl and The Amp already open — plus buzzworthy newcomers like Wegmans on the horizon — the future here feels just as exciting as the present.
From planning a date night to getting a haircut to keeping little ones entertained, residents and explorers of Ballantyne can use this guide as a go-to resource for navigating the neighborhood.
*This guide offers a snapshot of Ballantyne as it stands today, with updates continuing to shape the area. We recommend checking business websites or local listings for the most current hours and offerings.

Step inside The Butcher’s Market and you’ll be reminded of a time when every neighborhood had its own trusted butcher — a place where shopping felt personal, and the people behind the counter took pride in helping you bring a meal to the table. Since opening its Charlotte location in 2010, The Butcher’s Market has carried on that tradition, blending unparalleled customer service with hand-selected cuts and all the ingredients that make home cooking special.
The market is a destination for more than just premium meats. Alongside tender steaks, allnatural chicken, pork and dry-aged selections, you’ll find fresh bread, farm eggs, homemade pies, sauces, wines and craft beers — everything you need to turn a meal into a memory.
What truly sets The Butcher’s Market apart is its spirit of hospitality. From a warm greeting at the door to helping carry your groceries out, the team treats every guest like a neighbor. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why neighborhood markets matter and where quality food and genuine connection are always at the heart of the experience.

Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary or the start of the weekend, date nights call for great food. Ballantyne has something for every palate and occasion, with a selection of elevated casual restaurants that ensure a special evening.

Popular dishes: 8-Ounce Filet, Beef Tartare, French Onion Soup
The Imperial Treasure*
“The soup dumplings were the best I’ve ever had in Charlotte! They didn’t fall apart, had tons of soup and pork in them and were so flavorful! The steamed buns were equally good. Light, fluffy, packed with meat and so good!” — Derek M.
North Italia
“The food was absolutely phenomenal, with every dish perfectly crafted and full of flavor. The drinks were equally impressive — expertly mixed and refreshing. The ambience was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a night out. While the noise level was noticeable, it wasn’t overwhelming and added to the lively atmosphere. Highly recommend for a fantastic dining experience!” — Josh M.

Comfort, convenience, and charm await Ballantyne visitors, from business travelers to weekend tourists. With easy access to Charlotte’s city center and a growing list of things to see and do right in the neighborhood, it’s both relaxing and well-connected. Guests have options ranging from upscale, resort-style amenities at The Ballantyne to trusted national brands just minutes from shopping and dining. No matter how long you’re staying, Ballantyne makes it easy to feel at home.

Nestled in the heart of the neighborhood, The Ballantyne has been a local landmark and bastion of Southern hospitality since 2001. This full-service resort is part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection and is recognized with AAA Four-Diamond status. Throughout the hotel, design choices blend historic charm with modern elegance — from bronze dalmatian statues in the lobby that pay homage to the property’s past as a hunting estate to gold-trimmed accents, a nod to North Carolina’s gold rush.
The Ballantyne is just steps away from neighborhood amenities like The Bowl, The Amp and Stream Park, making it ideal for travelers looking to explore the area. And with the hotel’s world-class amenities, guests can enjoy an entire stay without venturing off the grounds.
