As we near the completion of Spring and embark on the promises of Summer, it’s important to take a moment to reflect upon the significance of God’s creativity, transitioning from dormancy to growth. Along those same lines, it’s important to look within ourselves and to consider our own transformational journey. How do we acknowledge God’s gifts of family, friends, nature, and life? Are we grateful, and do we show appreciation for these gifts that we have been given?
The South Holland Village Board and Administration strives to be consistently conscious of all the wonderful components that comprise our village. We recognize and admire what we believe makes South Holland the best community in the Southland. It starts collectively with us, as residents. Our generosity, mindfulness, and sense of decency toward our fellow neighbors are but a few factors that define South Holland as a special community. We treasure our spiritual leaders who proudly preach and truthfully live the Word of God on a daily basis. We cherish our business leaders who bring professionalism and integrity to the working world. Along with our various village departments, whose employees strive to exhibit the faith-based value system we hold dear, this collection of entities makes a point of “Coming Together” to establish South Holland as a destination for families to experience their own personal growth.
Much like we do spiritually, it’s also important to commit to a physical transformation. For many, this may simply mean eating healthier, taking vitamins, or engaging in an exercise program. If it’s the latter you want, the SHRS staff is prepared to help you along the way! Explore this edition of the FIT Book, and find your best way to holistically take care of your soul, mind, and body.
With continued appreciation for who you are and our “Coming Together” as the community of South Holland,
Don A. De Graff, Mayor Village of South Holland

The class proposes a typical ballet class structure, following the well-renowned methods of “Vaganova” and “The Royal Academy of Dancing” academic ballet technique. The class will include Barre sequences with the following Center segments: Adagio, Allegro, Grand Allegro. The class structure will adapt to the different age and level of the participanting students. Why taking a ballet class is good at any age? Ballet is a weight-bearing form of exercise which strengthens muscles, promotes healthy bones and burns calories. Because ballet uses the full range of muscles, it is also great for cognitive functions such as coordination and concentration. Being an art form, ballet is great for posture, balance, elegance, aesthetics, but it can also reduce the symptoms of depression, developing the individual expression for a higher level of self-esteem. And it is fun!

In 2000, the Community Center Endowment Committee was originally established to allow residents and businesses the opportunity to be a part of the village’s recreational crown jewel. Initial participation helped to underwrite part of the cost of individual rooms within the Community Center. Today, the lobby of the Community Center showcases the beautiful 12’x12’ “Tree of Life.” This display is a visual representation of the generosity and commitment to the relentless pursuit of improvement desired by South Holland’s residents and businesses. If you would like to learn more about the “Tree of Life,” or if you are interested in being a part of the legacy by making a donation, please call the South Holland Village Administration office at 708.210.2900
