FORT PAYNE, Ala.-- The investigation by Fort Payne detectives, DeKalb County District Attorney, and the Jacksonville State

University Center for Applied Forensics will be concluded soon on a fatal shooting that occurred in January. On January 2 at approximately 9:30 am, the Fort Payne Police Department responded to an altercation involving

shots fired. Upon arrival on the scene, Fort Payne Police Officers and Fort Payne Fire Medics found one male deceased. Randall Jerome Meyers, 44, of Mount Vernon, was fatally shot at the Fort Payne Auto dealership, located in the

1000 block of Gault Avenue North. A person involved in the altercation has been interviewed. The name of the shooter has not been released.
