Drafting this issue of Southern Plug Magazine has been emotional process. Thinking that just 4 shorts months ago at the Metro Awards we announced the end of Southern Plug. But, after speaking with a few business affiliates we decided that 2024 was only the beginning to a new chapter for Southern Plug. Which is why with this issue I decided to promote my favorite SC entertainers. I just made the move from Columbia, SC to Charlotte, NC which has a bigger media market. With that I decided that in order for me to promote these artists I would publish a magazine issue with a new and more modern design and featuring them. Subsequently dragging them along with me to every event and
meeting I attend. I want to say thanks to all our features and advertisers. Who were just super helpful during the completion of this issue. This is definitely an issue you will not want to miss so head on over to MagCloud.com or SouthernPlugWorld.online to grab your digital or physical copy! And as we always say thank you for plugging in Southern Plug!
REVENGE RAPE!
Sean "Diddy" Combs has been accused of raping a woman as "payback" for suggesting he was involved in the murder of Tupac Shakur. In a lawsuit filed in California, Ashley Parham also claims the musician threatened to slash her face with a knife in retaliation for her comments. Mr Combs has yet to respond to the allegations but has consistently denied all claims of sexual assault. He has also previously denied any involvement in the drive by shooting that killed rapper Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas in 1996. The murder has never been solved, although former gang member Duane "Keffe D" Davis was charged with murder last year. Mr Davis, whose trial will begin in March 2025, previously claimed that Mr Combs offered him $1m (£769,000) for a hit on Shakur. In legal papers filed in California on Tuesday, Ms Parham says she landed on Mr Combs' radar after meeting one of his friends at a bar in 2018.The friend was "attempting to
impress" people by making a video call to Mr Combs, but Ms Parham refused to take part because she believed the rapper "had something to do with the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur". In the lawsuit, she claims Mr Combs overheard her comment and said she would "pay" for it. About a month later, the friend invited her to his home asking for help with his cancer drugs, and Mr Combs unexpectedly turned up, she claims. Ms Parham alleges that the rapper then approached her "with a knife and held it to the right side of [her] face and threatened to give her a 'Glasgow smile' in retaliation for her previous statements". Mr Combs then ripped off her clothes and "violently" raped her with a television remote control, the documents say. During the ordeal, Mr Combs allegedly told her that her life was in his hands and that, if he so desired, she would never be seen again. Ms Parham alleges that she was then raped by multiple people, "until eventually she had no control over her body nor could she move her body". Ms Parham says she eventually tried to escape but was confronted by Mr Combs, who offered her money to say the rape was consensual, she claims. She ran to neighbours for help, the lawsuit says, as gunshots were fired in her direction. They had already called the police, having heard the disturbance next door. Ms Parham says she told the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department she had been gang raped by Mr Combs and his associates, but no further action was taken. She went to hospital three weeks later and staff called local police. However, Ms Parham claims neither of her police reports led to an investigation. She is suing Mr Combs and six other people for sexual assault and battery, abuse, false imprisonment and kidnapping, and is demanding a trial by jury. The BBC has contacted his lawyers for comment and is similarly seeking a response from his co defendants. Ms Parham's case is the latest in more than a dozen claims of rape, sexual assault and physical abuse that have been filed against Combs in the past year.Six new cases were lodged in New York on Monday alone, including allegations that he molested a 16 year-old boy at a party in his mansion. Responding to those cases, lawyers for the star told the BBC that Mr Combs "has never sexually assaulted anyone - adult or minor, man or woman". They have also described previous lawsuits as a "money grab" and "clear attempts to garner publicity". Mr Combs is currently being held at a detention centre in New York, as he awaits trial on federal criminal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. On Tuesday, his lawyers filed a motion requesting the identities of his accusers, in order to prepare for the trial, which is tentatively scheduled to begin on 5 May 2025. They added that the number of anonymous accusations against Mr Combs have been "irreparably damaging" to his "character and reputation". "These swirling allegations have created a hysterical media circus that, if left unchecked, will irreparably deprive Mr Combs of a fair trial, if they haven’t already,” the motion concluded. The music mogul's lawyers have also argued for his release on bail, citing the “horrific” conditions he faces in Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center. However, prosecutors have countered that he poses a risk of witness intimidation. The musician, who was one of the most influential producers in the 1990s hiphop scene, is known for solo hits like I'll Be Missing You and his work with Notorious B.I.G. on tracks like Juicy and Mo' Money, Mo' Problems. He took the unusual step of posting to Instagram from jail, wishing his two year old daughter a happy birthday.

Unapologetic and focused are two words that describe singer and songwriter Miya Guggs. The qualities that allowed her to be an elite athlete on the basketball court now help the independent artist launch her music career. A woman of many gifts, Miya’s talents on the hardwood allowed her to earn a scholarship to her hometown college basketball team, Kansas City (Kansas) Community College. Nobody would have blamed Miya if she had pursued her hoop dreams to their logical conclusion a college education, maybe attracting the attention of a Division One school and becoming a Lady Jayhawk and achieving the ultimate dream of being drafted into the WNBA. Miya, however had a different dream. It’s a dream that Miya first spoke into existence during late nights in the presence of her aunt, Denise. “We would sit there and watch music videos because me and her are night owls,” Miya recalled. “We would be up watching music videos, and I remember watching those videos and I was like, ‘I want to do that.” This is a part of the story where Auntee Denise tries to talk sense into the child by telling her about the steep odds she faces in trying to make it in the music business or describing the cautionary tales of heartache that befell those tried to make it in the industry and failed. However, Miya’s aunt encouraged her niece to follow her dream. “She was like, you can do this, and I was on my way,” Miya said. The singer and songwriter also received support from her parents to pursue the music that constantly played in her head and her heart even when Miya was on the court. “It’s crazy because during halftime I would just think about music,” she recalled. “It was a hard decision to leave basketball because I do enjoy the game, but school and basketball kind of wore me down.”With the encouragement from those who cared for her the most, Miya was all in. “A lot of people expected me to have a back-up plan, but I don’t really believe in that,” she noted. “I’m just going to keep going and it was nice to hear encouragement, especially at a young age, because most people will tell kids to be more realistic. “I appreciate what my auntee told me and I feel like the universe spoke through her.” So, Miya decided to devote effortsto pursing her passion. The results can now be heard in a series of singles that
showcases a vocal her range and diversity that allow her to move from sultry ballads like “Situationships,” to conversational rapid fire, hip hop inspired delivery of “Bad Boy,” a club banger where Miya playfully and seductively where she lets a roughneck guy know that she can be his ride and die chic. “Bad Boy” pairs Miya with Richard Wingo, member of the legendary R&B group Jagged Edge. That track gave Miya an opportunity to work artist who made music that was a part of her mom and aunt’s soundtrack. “It was a very nostalgic feeling and I really enjoyed working with him,” Miya recalled. “He’s funny and a very talented person. And yeah, my mom and my aunt listened to Jagged Edge a lot, so they were really excited for me.” “Situationships,” Miya’s latest single, provides insight into her songwriting process. The song tells the story of a person trying to manage emotions and expectations in a relationship.“I was on Twitter one day and one of the topics that was really trending was situationships, and I was like I can talk about that because I’ve experienced that,” she recalled. “So I kind of put my little take on it my little two cents and it became something really cool. “It was how I was feeling in that moment and it came out really great.” Miya takes her next step in her career when her EP, “Patterns,” drops later this year. “I’m excited for that and I am putting the finishing touches on it.” The EP will be a mix of new tracks and tunes from her existing catalog. She said that the album’s title tells a story. “It actually refers to the patterns in relationships that I’ve seen that are just negative and I am kind of making people aware of that.” That mindset of using music to seek truth shows that Miya is following a path laid down by singers like Amy Winehouse, SZA and Jazmine Sullivan. “All of those women are unapologetically themselves and that is what draws me toward them, and that is what inspires me to be unapologetically myself,” she said. “That is what it’s all about. “Following your own dreams and being an inspiration to others to achieve their dreams. The same thing that those artists do for me, I want to do for others.”

Q. Hi Camille, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
A. I started posting in 2020, starting with body positivity and comfortability. I believe women of all shapes and sizes should be comfortable in the skin they live in. I would’ve never thought that I would have over forty thousand followers on instagram. I started with posting myself and my journey with confidence and self love. I truly believe everyone should be in love with themselves.
Q. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A. The only struggle I have faced in my social media journey is self doubt. I get in my head about almost everything I post online especially the 1st hour or 2 after I upload but a lot of times I have to slow down and talk to myself more than I listen to myself. Manifestation and affirmations help with easing my mind. The internet is so broad and it’s such a main form of entertainment and sometimes it can be overwhelming with that many eyes on you but it also reassures me that people out there enjoy my content and that I am a role model and influential person.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work? I am an aspiring influencer/ content creator. I’m known for my sense of fashion and style and preaching the art of confidence. I am so proud of the open minded , self assertive woman I am today . My dream would be to have my own clothing brand that focuses on self love , good energy and body positivity for women and men!
What matters most to you?
Self awareness, a relationship with God and Community! Having these things helps me in my everyday life inside and outside the social world. It’s important to have people in your life that want to see you grow and will support you. It’s also important for to be self aware so I know how my actions not only affect me but also others! A relationship with God is crucial. He is my everything. I know that I am Loved and fearfully and wonderfully made.

SOUTHERN SOUL HAS A NEW SEXY DIVA
By Darren James
Hailing all the way from Columbus, Georgia is the “Sexy Diva of Southern Soul”, Janelle Moore. Janell has been singing all her life. She first noticed her talent for singing at the tender age of four years old when her family would always have her sing for everyone. Janell starting singing amateurly and professional in church as a leader in the choir, praise team, and multiple groups. Music has been apart of her life since she could remember.
Naturally, Janell began to blossom from the front. And before long she began to sing professionally as the lead of many quartets, choirs , & women’s groups. She’s so humble that she’ll never say it, but it became evident that her talent would take her much further than a member of a group. About 10 years ago Janell began her solo career as a gospel singer. She released her first single “In Love With Jesus”. Later the same year she went from church music to Southern Soul because she experienced a lot in a relationship that she didn’t want to talk about. So, she decided to sing about it. Janell jumped headfirst into world of Southern Soul with her debut single “Single Life”. She then followed up with her hit single Came To Party. She is now touring her new hits “Pain Run Deep” “I Still Love You”, “& “Birthday”’. Which is the ones expected by critics to launch her into superstardom. She is currently working with Magic one. One of the biggest Southern Soul acts coming out of LA.

The Charlotte, North Carolina self taught producer, musician and singer songwriter, known as Will Wildfire, exemplifies the new age of Alternative R&B with his distinguished guitar riffs and bad boy charm. NOISEY proclaimed him as “North Carolina’s (and possibly one of the world’s), next great soul rock bad boy.”
Before winning the Urban accolade at the Charlotte Music Awards in 2014, Will Wildfire, developed a liking towards R&B and Rock n Roll legends at a young age. Born Will Hoggard discovered who he wanted to be as an artist and what he could convey to the world. In high school he tapped into his talent, joined a band and started performing at local venues. With influences from Jimi Hendrix, Kanye West and Aaliyah he garnered a big following on social media during his college years at UNC -- Chapel Hill.
Through his grassroots success he received an ample amount of attention that opened opportunities to perform at American Idol Alum, Anoop Desai on his Xbox campus tour and his YouTube channel continues to grow.
He exceeds the indie expectations as you can hear him on the airwaves of Raleigh K97.5, performing alongside major acts B.O.B and Tory Lanez, collaborations with new artists including DJ Khaled’s signee Steph LeCor and invites to numerous festivals like SXSW.

DUSTHOUSE FILMS NOTABLE PROJECTS
onfident, hard hitting rapper Sally Sossa delivers biographical tales that occasionally betray her sensitive side. Although the Houston native has cited the likes of Nicki Minaj and early supporter Lil Durk as influences, Sossa quickly distinguished herself after uploading her first recordings while in high school. She made her label debut as a teenager in 2020 and has since released Life of Sossa (2021) and 4EVER SOSSA (2022), projects highlighted by hits such as the Durk collaboration "Star Song" and the Flo Milli-assisted "Toot It Up." Born in 2002, Sossa learned to rhyme -- and developed a competitive spirit -- during the many family rap battles that permeated her youth. In high school, she fed much of this determination into playing basketball. However, when an injury forced her to take time out from the sport, building a rap career became her number one priority. By age 17, she had uploaded numerous tracks and mixtapes online, transforming from an artist with local support to one with the backing of established names in the industry. Early on, Lil Durk become a key mentor. He almost signed Sossa independently, but eventually she chose a deal with Listen to the Kids, an imprint patronized by the major label Interscope. In 2020, "Who You Are," the first track released as part of the contract, achieved 500,000 streams within a matter of months. This was swiftly followed by "A Letter to the Streets," "GMFU," and "100 Flows," pieces that all ultimately appeared on Life of Sossa, issued in September 2021. While those tracks were filled with attitude, tempered piano led material such as "Need Me" and "It Ain't Love" brought her softer side to the fore. The latter track included a reference to her grandfather, an early champion of her talent who died before Sossa's career had begun to blossom. Another ballad, the Lil Durk collaboration "Star Song," became Sossa's most streamed song to that point. Life of Sossa wasn't even a week old when she released "TMU," the first track from her follow up project. By the end of the following March, she issued 4EVER SOSSA, an EP. An expanded deluxe edition of the set was out that September, and it was soon trailed by singles such as "Real Freak" and her first 2023 offering, "Never Be the Same."

DISTRIBUTION DEAL VS A RECORD DEAL
Are you a musician who is looking to enter into an agreement with a label or distributor? Or are you simply curious about the differences between a distribution deal and a record deal? Either way, it is important to understand the key distinctions between these two types of agreements. A distribution deal is an agreement between a musician and a distributor, in which the distributor agrees to help the musician get their music into the hands of consumers. Distribution deals do not typically involve record labels, although the distributor may have some affiliation with one or more labels. In a distribution deal, the musician typically retains ownership of their master recordings and has greater control over the marketing and promotion of their music. A record deal, on the other hand, is a much broader agreement that typically involves a record label. In addition to distributing the artist’s music, the label may also provide funding for recording and marketing efforts, as well as assistance with booking tours and other promotional activities. In exchange for these services, the label typically takes a larger percentage of the artist’s revenue and may also own the master recordings. One of the biggest advantages of a distribution deal is that the musician typically retains more control over their music and the direction of their career. However, without the resources and support of a record label, it can be difficult to achieve widespread success in the highly competitive music industry. A record deal may offer more resources and broader exposure opportunities, but it also means giving up some control over your music and potentially signing away your master recordings. For many artists, the decision between a distribution deal and a record deal comes down to their individual goals and priorities. Ultimately, it is important to carefully consider your options and seek out an agreement that aligns with your artistic vision and career goals. In conclusion, distribution deals and record deals both have their own advantages and disadvantages. The key is to be informed and to carefully consider your options before making a decision. With the right agreement in place, musicians can reach a wider audience and achieve the success they deserve.
Q. Hey everyone it’s ya boy Darren Southern Plug Brown, here with a mega Southern Plug Exclusive. Introducing to some, the uber talented and beautiful Tasia B. So, tell our readers that may not be familiar with you or your work just who you are and what it is that you do exactly.
A. My name is Shontasia Brown otherwise known as Tasia B. I am a lyricist who raps and sings. You can check my work out on YouTube and Instagram at 1TasiaB. I released four songs with videos and am preparing for the release of the first song from my upcoming Mixtape OSO (oh so) Carolina on 25 January 2025.
Q. So, what inspired you to start your journey as hiphop r&b artist?
A. I come from a musically gifted family my brother is Keezo the rapper, Uncle Sam the producer is my cousin and Mike Smith the R&B phenom (God Bless the passed away) is also my cousin. The death of my mother and grandmother was the spark that lit the flame which resulted in my embarking on the career I have been pursuing the past five years.
Q. How and when did you coin your stage name and how do you feel that title fits you?
A. My original stage name was my family nickname TayyB with Tayy being short fort Shontasia and the B for my last name Brown. Attorney Bernie Lawrence Watkins (out of Atlanta) searched the quote on quote on quote and she found that the name TayB was already trademarked by a rapper signed to Giant Records. My production company Strong Link Music Group suggested a name change and we have begun the trademark process for the name Tasia B my present and final stage name.
Q. Do you have any upcoming projects or announcements to make?
A. We are preparing for the drop of the mixtape OSO (OhSo) Carolina. The first single from this project is Buss Down, scheduled for release on social media on 1/25/25. The mixtape will also feature the anthem “OSO Carolina.” My production company Strong Link will be pursuing a major label partnership with the release of the mixtape.
Q. What would you say is the quote on quote secret recipe for your success?
A. Hard work, prayer, staying true to myself and my music and working with a good team.
Q. What is your favorite part about being a rap star?
A. My favorite part of what I do is performing. I enjoy seeing how people react to my lyrics when I’m rapping or singing and it’s funny because I think they don’t expect what they get from a female with such a small stature, lol!
Q. Name a time where you've faced adversity in your career? And, what impact did it have on you or your career?
A. as a female rapper I face adversity every day. Rapping is geared mostly around men and there are only a few female rappers who are taken seriously. I strive to be in that group of ladies who are considered dope as fuck.
Q. Is there something in specific that you want people to know about you or your art?
A. I want people to know I do music because I love it. Not for just the money or the fame but because I really enjoy being creative musically and it makes me feel good, you know all warm and fuzzy inside. I write my own lyrics but I would like to work with some other writers for sure. I lay my own vocals in ProTools and prepare my songs myself in my computer before entering the studio.
Q. Okay, so its no secert you are a very attractive person. Our men readers would like to know, are you boo'd up or what? If so spilt the tea. Who's the lucky guy?
A. Pretty boring right now because unfortunately I am not “boo’d” up at the moment, just concentrating on my career. However, if the right situation presents itself I am open to the possibility of being “boo’d up.”
Q. How do you juggle your personal life and professional life?
A. Music is pretty much totally my life right now but I do try to balance my time with things I enjoy doing like reading, googling things I find interesting and traveling whenever the opportunity presents itself. “All work and no play make Jill a dull girl”, I must make time to “Jill” off, lol J.
Q. What advice would you give those wanting to start their journey in your field?
A. Stay focused and find a good team, one that supports you and pushes you to be better. Everyone needs help, you can’t do it alone.
Q. Who would you say is your biggest inspiration and why?
A. Beyoncé is my biggest inspiration. I look to how she eases through performances and owns the stage. I love her versatility and ability to move between musical genres with her songs.
Q. Ok we do this every interview! What creatives would you absolutely die to work with?
Q. Tell our readers how they can book you and connect with you
the socials.
A. My fans
A. I would love to work with Chris Brown. He is the modern Michael Jackson. He always remains fresh to the ears even though he’s been in the game a long time. On the rapper side the list is long, too long to name them all but I would like to work with Lil Wayne, Lil Baby and Future. and for my females I would say Dej Loaf, Latto, and Megan the Stallion. I wouldn’t mind Glorilla as well.
