Rap-A-Lot Records founder J Prince issued a lengthy statement about the late Takeoff, who was shot and killed in Houston on November 1. The Rap-A-Lot Records founder said his heart was broken as he offered condolences to Takeoff’s family and friends. J Prince detailed his anger over the situation and criticized online speculation about the fatal shooting. “This shouldn’t have happened,” he wrote. “This shouldn’t have ever happened in our city. This shouldn’t have been recorded, and this damn sure shouldn’t be circulating across social media for family, friends and fans to see. As I write this I’m angry about the lack of love and respect we have for one another as a race which keeps bringing us back to the same tragic place of black on black killing.”He continued, “They say satan is the author of confusion and right now there are a lot of lies and false narratives being spread by media w#####. I consider myself a man that’s quick to listen and slow to speak, therefore to whomever is responsible for putting that bullet in my little nephew’s head, let it be known that you can’t hide behind me, beside me or anywhere near me because I don’t tolerate dumb s###. I speak these words not knowing [whose] bullet is responsible for his death.” J Prince also addressed Takeoff’s killer in the lengthy message. The post included a call to stop arguments from escalating to violence. “With that being said, the root of this tragedy is foolish and has to be owned by the fool,” J Prince wrote. “I will sum this up by saying a gun in the hands of any human that close his eyes to shoot and doesn’t have the proper skills of operating that gun is dangerous and the results usually end with innocent people who had nothing to do with the altercation being shot or killed. To the homies in Georgia and around the world that got love for Takeoff like we do know this: let’s change the narrative in our culture by putting [an] end to every argument or disagreement resulting in violence; it’s okay to live and let live to see another day.” Takeoff was shot and killed in Houston on November 1. At what age did you know you wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry?
I was born in 1984, I have always been a performer and an influencer. In junior high school I was modeling , singing, acting, cheerleading, public speaking, and being a creative artist my whole life. I have never been to cosmetology school for beauty, I taught myself how to do all my beauty skills. I wanted to be a performer as a child.
Being a model, can have its challenges. Have you ever had to face some type of rejection, or disappointment from a gig you didn't get?
Being a disabled model and influencer, Runway modeling has been the hardest for me. The challenges of learning to walk again, choosing to do runway modeling and challenging myself has been the hardest but greatest victory. Rejection is something that is needed in any industry that you desire to be committed to. I have gone for many auditions and did not get them, and it can be a hard feeling, then you realize the industry of being chosen. I always say are you “Okay with not being chosen”. Modeling helps build self-confidence to conquer the runway of life for me and allows you to accept not being chosen and still know you are beautiful. Hey, You are your own model, so take the challenges and shake the room.
Have you ever done any runway shows in any states?
I have my first out of state runway show on December 10, 2022 in Gulfport Mississippi. Being a self-proclaimed beauty entrepreneur, this is a honor in a little over a year in the modeling industry. Excitingly, I had a model tour that I created this year to go to South Carolina, North Carolina, and Atlanta for myself that unfortunately did not happen due to industry changes, and COVID precautions.
Growing up, did you have a particular model/actress you looked up to as a role model? When I was a young girl, until being a 38-year-old model, I always wanted to be Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks. These women are fierce and rocked the runway with that fierce walk and one turn. I always walk in “Shaking The Room” like the late great Pop Smoke said and raped about. I am all about representation and walking in how you expect to be treated and knowing who I am so I will not fall for anything. Fundamentally, this has broadened my reach in the beauty industry. Being a dark skin woman, we always had these two that brought us up and showing black confidence on every entertainment stream for modeling and being beauty entrepreneurs. Being the Vice President of Queens Vision Modeling in New Jersey, I can manage models and set the standard for Union Model expectation by guiding and teaching the fundamentals of modeling to get noticed.
The pandemic 2 years ago slowed the entire world down. Did work slowdown for you during this time? During the pandemic, work began to slow down but it allowed me to also perfect by craft, while getting through my medical recovery. The pandemic allowed many of us true business owners and entrepreneurs to focus on our own talents and utilize them. I am literally now doing my own things that I used to pay to get done. Now I am a self-made make-up artist, hair artist, lash artist, stylist and designer sitting down at home during the pandemic, while creating my mobile beauty business of Hired by Beauty MsCanditrinae’. I learned that change is needed for “ Growth of The Seeds I Planted” You know the full harvest. We have to slow down and sit down to really get down and make the brand of your foundation be built on the rock. Canditrinae’ was created during the pandemic with the rock as the foundation. I am the “Canditrinae Brand”, Queen.
Have you worked with any celebrities since you've been in the business of being a model/actress? Being a model and actress, I have worked with celebrities on different levels. In a year of following my acting journey, I was blessed with my first supporting lead role as “ Paulina” in the film “Irreversible Desires by Nakeva Bryant”, that is out now on life streams. Nakeva Bryant is a well-known musical performing arts, writer/ director, CEO of Skyhigh Films, affiliated with Maverick movies being an independent film maker.
