GENERAL LIVESTOCK JUDGING CONTEST
Contest will be held on Friday – Jan Reed Livestock Arena– Fairgrounds
Registration: 9:30 to 10:00 am
All area county 4-H teams and FFA chapters may participate. There can be more than one team per county or chapter. Anyone that is an active 4-H or FFA member may be on a team. A team will consist of four members with the three top scores counting as the total team score. There will be no registration fee, but there is an admission charge at the gate. (If registered in advance, gate passes can be mailed out.)
The livestock to be judged will be determined by the contest coordinator.
The livestock used for the contest will be those of the 4-H exhibitors at the fair.
Classes of livestock to be judged may include:
Class 1 – Market Barrows
Class 2 – Market Goats
Class 3 – Breeding Heifers
Class 4 – Market Steers
Class 5 – Breeding Ewes
Class 6 – Market Lambs
Individual and team trophies and ribbons will be awarded at the completion of the contest.
CLASS 10 - MARKET HOGS
1. Entries open to purebred, crossbred or grade pigs, barrows & gilts that were farrowed on or after February 1, 2019 and weighing between 230 - 290 pounds. All market hogs will be weighed at time of entry and divided into a workable weight class. Pigs may be owned in a bona fide partnership with parent or guardian, such ownership to be certified by a Vocational Agriculture Instructor.
2. Exhibitors will be permitted to show three entries in the individual lot and one entry in the pen lot.
3. Pigs from pens may be exhibited in the individual lot.

Utility Maintenance Person
The City of Albert Lea is accepting applications for a full-time utility maintenance person to perform maintenance and repair work on the city’s water, sewer and storm sewer distribution system. Duties include working on the digging crew, locating, repairing/replacing lines, making plumbing connections, repairing pumps and motors, and assisting with water plants and lift stations as needed.
The salary range for this position is $26.25 to $35.28 per hour.

This position leads a department of 15 staff, including probation, truancy, STS coordinator, support and veterans court staff.
