Tales sordid and scandalous

Black Point Estate offers two themed walking tours

Looking for a little intrigue for your pre-Halloween entertainment?

The Sordid and Scandalous Lake Geneva Walking Tour, hosted by Black Point Estate – a Wisconsin Historical Society site in Lake Geneva – will get you in the spirit.

Participants will explore the mysteries of Lake Geneva’s downtown district and Maple Park neighborhood during this 90-minute excursion replete with tales of the town’s ties to prohibition gangsters, the legend of the Geneva Lake sea serpent, even flying saucers.

The tour departs from the Riviera Building, 812 Wrigley Drive, at 11 a.m., Oct. 2, 9, and 16. Tickets are $15 each and are available online through the Wisconsin Historical Society website.

Cemetery tour

Now if cemeteries are your thing, try the Oak Hill Cemetery Walking Tour, 5-6:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 16.

This tour begins at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1101 Cemetery Road, Lake Geneva. The cost is $15 per person.

Curators from Black Point Estate in Lake Geneva will offer a pair of Halloween-appropriate walking tours in October. These include the Sordid and Scandalous tour and the Oak Hill Cemetery tour.
