IS BETTER ON THE Activities abound on local lakes by Sandra Landen Machaj CORRESPONDENT
S
ummer is time to leave the house and enjoy the beauty of outdoor life, away from the hustle and bustle of the stress of our work lives. And nothing says summer quite like a day on the lake or at the
beach. In the Geneva Lakes area, finding these splashable playgrounds is easy. Whether looking for a busy, bustling lake with lots of activity, or a calm, quiet area to relax, one of the local lakes will a perfect match for your preference. Here’s a look at some of the services that help you make the most of a day at the lake: Boating Summer means taking to the water to enjoy a day of fun in the sun and usually that means a watercraft of some type is
involved. While years ago, the pontoon boat was thought of as the slow moving boat, the ones used to take the older members of the family for a ride, today the pontoon is considered the most popular and one of the most versatile boats on the water. Today’s pontoon comes in a variety of sizes to accommodate larger numbers of guests. They also have more powerful engines making it possible to water ski or tube behind the boat. They are versatile and can be used for fishing, or after a time of cruising along the lake, boaters may find the perfect spot to stop, drop anchor and let everyone swim off the back of the boat. For those who are not fortunate enough to own a boat, but still want to spend time out on the water, there are a many places along the lakes where the boat of choice can be rented for the day, the weekend, or a week. Pick the lake to boat on and call one of the local boat rental companies for rental costs and types of craft available. Boat clubs are available which allow
Whether it’s a leisurely cruise or a wild ride pulling a tube, boats make for great family outings. SANDRA LANDEN MACHAJ Spirit of Geneva Lakes

people the use of a boat for a certain number of days a year. A great choice for those who live on or near a lake and plan to be out on the water often. Before renting a boat, visit the lake to see how busy they are on the day of the week you wish to be on the water. Weekends are busier than week days especially on larger and very popular lakes such as Geneva Lake. “Lake Mary and Lake Elizabeth in Twin Lakes, are more peaceful, relaxing lakes and if you can sneak a day off during the week, it is like being on a private lake,” said Dave Lang, who along with Ryan La Meer owns Twin Lakes Boat Rental. In the State of Wisconsin, those born after Jan. 1, 1989, must be boater certified by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to rent a watercraft. The course is available online and there is a $10 fee to issue the certification after passing the exam. “We recommend reserving your boat as soon as possible, especially for the weekends,” Lang said. “We have some customers who have already reserved boats for every weekend through Labor Day. It is never too soon to do so.” Personal watercraft Those looking for a more personal water-riding experience, the jet ski or a wave runner may fit the bill. Holding from 1 to 3 people as it zips through the water, the thrill of speed is what often attracts riders to choose this method of fun on the water. The stand-up PWCs are more difficult to drive than those that allow one to sit and drive. The standup requires more balance and only one person can be on the jet ski at a time. Sit-down PWCs can hold from 1 to 3 riders, depending on the size. For those who enjoy the thrill of speed, the jet ski can exceed speeds of 40 miles per hour with some going up to 70 miles per hour. Speed is dependent on the power of the jet ski, the calmness of the water, wind resistance and the weight of the passengers. So, if you have the need for speed enjoy some time on a jet ski but do so safely. Riding a jet ski can be a day of fun on the water. Safety is important. Always wear a personal flotation device (life jacket) and get instruction on riding the jet ski before going out the first time. If it is your own jet ski, have it serviced at the beginning of the season and as needed. Kayaks, paddleboards Motor-driven watercraft are not the only way to enjoy being on the water. Kayaks, rowboats and paddle boards are enjoyable ways to spend time in the water using personal power to travel along. Over the past several years, kayaks have become very popular. They are inexpensive

to purchase starting as low as a couple of hundred dollars, although more expensive models are available. They are lightweight, thus very portable and easy to store over the winter. Kayaks are small narrow boats which hold one or two people. The paddler uses a double-bladed paddle to propel the boat. On any given day, kayaks can be seen traveling on the lakes. It can be a single kayaker or a group of friends traveling along enjoying the day and the beauty of nature. Kayaks are fun to enjoy on the water and they will take riders as fast as their arms can paddle or the wind and the waves can propel them. Kayaks are easy to maneuver and a great way to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the water on a nice summer day. Kayaks, like canoes, can turn over SPIRIT of GENEVA LAKES
if not balanced correctly, so for safety always wear a life jacket or other personal flotation device. Almost anyone can learn to kayak. Kayaking is a great way to increase physical activity. “Kayaking is a great way to get out and enjoy time on the water,” said Pat Schafer who has spent her life living on waterfronts and owns a variety of watercraft including a fishing boat, pontoons, and rowboats, but also has enjoyed kayaking with a friend. “They do tend to wobble when getting in or out. Once you learn to keep them steady, they are fun,” Schafer added. Over the last few years stand up paddle boards (SUP) have become another way to enjoy both the waves and the tranquility of the lakes. Like kayaks, they are inexpensive and easy to transfer from home to the lakefront. 9
Balance is important when riding a SUP. So perhaps that is why the sport appeals to those in their teens and twenties, when balance is at its best. However, anyone can learn. Paddle boards are a low impact activity and can help improve your balance. So don’t be shy – give a SUP a try. As with all the watersports, safety is important. Wear a life jacket. If possible, only use where there are lifeguards and never go out alone. Swimming For many of us, the best days of summer when we were young, were those we spent going to the beach and spending the day playing in the sand and swimming in the water. Of course, those days often ended with sunburn as we neglected to replenish layers of sunscreen throughout the day. Today as grownups we take our children or in some cases grandchildren to the beach to enjoy the fun we once had. And surprisingly, they are just as excited to be at the beach, digging in sand to build their sand castles and bringing up buckets of water to moisten the sand to keep it in place as they build. They often attempt to build a moat around their castle, but become frustrated that the water doesn’t stay on top of the sand but sinks in. We are now a bit smarter and remember to reapply the sun screen, on ourselves and

on the children, and to try to avoid sunburn. The American Red Cross advises: “Never swim alone or allow anyone else to do so. Always swim with a buddy.” The Red Cross also recommends swimming in areas with a lifeguard and always keeping an eye on everyone in your
group, especially young children. Avoid distractions including cell phones. There are many beaches along the local lakes that will make a wonderful day at the beach. Bring snacks and a variety of liquid drinks to avoid dehydration. And have fun.

Beach Local lakes offer sunny summer fun With an abundance of water the Geneva Lakes area boasts a wealth of sun, sand and cooling breezes on summer days. Whether it’s the large popular beaches on Geneva Lake – Riviera or Fontana – or the more secluded stretches of sand found on Twin Lakes in Kenosha County or Browns Lake in Burlington, the choices are many. Because of changing conditions due to coronavirus, readers are advised to verify a particular beach is open before planning an outing. Here’s your guide to some of the area’s public beaches:
Lake Geneva Located in downtown Lake Geneva at 211 Wrigley Drive, (262) 248-3673, Rivera Beach is a 600-foot-long sandy stretch that attracts both the local residents and tourists from the Chicago and northern Illinois area. A lifeguard is on duty from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the summer season. While it is one of the nicest beaches around, it is also the busiest. Tickets costing $8 per person (7 and older) are purchased from a kiosk at the entrance to the beach.
Big Foot Beach Big Foot Beach State Park, 1452 Wells St., Lake Geneva, is a 271-acre park on the eastern shore of Lake Geneva. There are many park activities including trails, a playground, volleyball courts, and a 40-acre picnic area. There is a small swimming beach on the lakeshore however no lifeguards are present. A state park admission is required.
Williams Bay Williams Bay Beach is on Geneva Avenue in Williams Bay, (262) 245-2720. With a clean, sandy beach, Williams Bay attracts families.
Entry fee is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Lifeguards are on duty from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. It also offers a bathhouse with showers.
Fontana Fontana Beach – 505 Lake St., Fontana, (262) 275-6136 – is another large beach that attracts many visitors, especially families. Food and beverages are allowed but no grills, glass, or alcohol. Guards are on duty from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Daily rates are $10 for those 12 and older and $5 for ages 6-11. Changing rooms are available.
Delavan In the Town of Delavan, Community Park, 1220 South Shore Drive, (262) 7402335, has a large playground, including a volleyball court, horseshoe pit, and picnic area but the swimming beach is small. The swimming area is delineated to keep swimmers from going out of the area because of underwater weeds. Daily rates are $2 for children 12 and younger and seniors, and $3 for others. Season passes are availalble.
Twin Lakes Lance Park Beach along Main Street on Lake Mary in the Village of Twin Lakes is perhaps the most popular. The beach is small, but it features a collar of green

grass behind it. No lifeguards are on duty so swimming is at your own risk. There is plenty of parking and no admission fee.
Burlington Fischer Park on Browns Lake in Burlington, 30326 Durand Avenue, (262) 763-8446, features a wide, sandy beach. The park is well maintained. Lifeguards are on duty each day during the swimming season. Picnic tables encourage visitors to spend the day and enjoy a picnic lunch. Admission is $3 per person fee during the swimming season.

Sandy’s Upscale Consignment has a loyal following – for a good reason by Sandra Landen Machaj CORRESPONDENT
For 25 years, Sandy’s Upscale Consignment has been located in the community of Walworth, providing customers with high-end fashion and accessories at reasonable prices. Located at 212 North Main St, just off the Square in downtown Walworth, it is the favorite place to shop for both local residents and visitors to the Geneva Lakes area. “I opened the shop on a whim. I have always shopped consignment stores as they provide more bang for the buck. There is always better value in the items purchased in the consignment shops. We all enjoy getting top quality and stylish merchandise when shopping,” said Sandy Lenz, owner of Sandy’s Upscale Consignment. It was on a shopping trip to the consignment shop, just on the corner from her current location in Walworth, that Lenz learned that the current owner was ready to retire and close the business. “I didn’t even think about it,” Sandy hared. “I purchased the rest of her stock, rented the space, and gave my current employer two weeks’ notice.” Although she had never run a consignment shop, having worked as a hair stylist and as a bartender, fashion was always her passion. She began working on the space to add her own style to the shop, rearranging and replacing merchandise and acquiring additional merchandise. “I printed off information about the new store and distributed them to be posted in local businesses. I began to advertise in Spirit of Geneva Lakes and through the Chamber of Commerce. Information about the reopening of the store also spread by word

of mouth,” Sandy said.
A fashion sense
It was her choices in the merchandise she carried that not only brought customers in but also kept them returning. Everything carried in the store is there on consignment. By not purchasing outright, it allows for a much larger inventory and variety to offer customers. All of the merchandise that Sandy accepts on consignment is top quality and in excellent condition. She accepts clothing in all sizes so there is a good selection from the petite through the plus sizes. While visiting in the store, a customer came in excited to show Sandy a photo taken at her son’s wedding the previous weekend. She had purchased her dress for the wedding at Sandy’s shop. It was an elegant navy blue gown, very chic with only a small amount of decorative beading around the neckline. Simple, yet elegant, was this mother of the groom. She was so pleased with her appearance and also with her budget and wanted to share her delight with Sandy and her staff. Clothing styles available include dresses such as those suitable for a wedding or other formal event, the perfect outfit for a nice dinner, and the right outfits to wear to SPIRIT of GENEVA LAKES
work, that is for those back to working in their offices. There is also a large selection of casual summer dresses, jeans, and slacks along with the right blouses to compliment the slacks and jeans for whatever the occasion.
Close scrutiny
In order to bring in items for consignment, it is necessary to schedule an appointment with Sandy. She personally selects the items that will be appropriate for the store. By having an appointed time, she is free to look at the items carefully to determine whether they are truly the quality of upscale consignments to offer her customers. Nothing stained, ripped, or worn out, is ever accepted. “We treat the store like a typical clothing store or high-end boutique. We change the items seasonally so the clothing is appropriate for the time of the year,” Sandy said. Each day a different item is displayed on Instagram, Facebook, and the website. Sandy advises customers to check daily to see the new trends available. Clothing is not all that is offered at Sandy’s Upscale Consignment. As any woman knows, more than just the items of clothing are needed for a truly finished 17

The right space
Seventeen years ago, Sandy’s Upscale Consignment moved from its original corner location to its current location at 212 N. Main, just a few doors away. The building is large and it was originally the former blacksmith shop in Walworth. It has beautiful, original hardwood floors, high ceilings, and is painted in a light beige color. The space was large enough that they were able to include four large dressing rooms, a luxury not always available in smaller boutiques and resale shops. A first-time customer, Dawn from Libertyville, Illinois, who was staying at the Abbey made her first visit to the boutique and was amazed at the variety of items available. She is a tall woman who wears size 11 shoes, and was pleased to find shoes in her size and a variety of selections of clothing that fit her well. “I love the clean look of the store and its great organization. I especially enjoyed the spacious dressing rooms, allowing me to try on items comfortably. I hope you will stay in business for tall people like me,” Dawn said. While many customers are in the area enjoying a weekend or longer vacation time in the Geneva Lakes area, it is also the local residents that shop in the store on a regular 19

She says that she has lived in the community her entire life and has shopped at Sandy’s Upscale Consignment since it opened. “I come in and find wonderful things not only for myself but for my granddaughter who has special needs. She is always pleased when I bring her new things,” said Lehman. “There is always something new, exciting and perfect for my granddaughter and for me.” Sandy’s Upscale Consignment has recently been awarded the Best in Walworth County for 2021 in three different categories all of which reflect her business. They are: best boutique; best women’s clothing; and best resale. She was very proud to be recognized in all three of these categories. “I love the store. I enjoy helping people and I am now doing what I was meant to do,” she said. And it seems that her customers love the store and her service as well. Sandy’s Upscale Consignment is at 212 N. Luxury items drive Chic and Unique Online presence attracts buyers from throughout the country
by Jason Arndt STAFF WRITER
Chic and Unique Consignment and Boutique, of Burlington, isn’t a thrift store. Instead, the establishment offers unique, trendy and new seasonal brand women’s boutique clothing, jewelry, gifts, and accessories. Additionally, according to owner Kerry Witbrod, Chic and Unique specializes in pre-loved luxury items ranging from Louis Vutton, Gucci, Prada and Chanel. “They are not donated. What consignment means is that when women are done with the clothes they don’t want, they bring them to the store and they get part of the selling prices,” Witbrod said. Witbrod touted authenticity of her store’s luxury items and has brought a stellar reputation from customers who visit the establishment in-person or through its website and online app.
Chic and Unique, according to its website, hand selects every item in its store to meet the style and quality demands of customers seeking an array of products.
Luxury sales Chic and Unique, meanwhile, launched an app through Apple last October and has since seen an influx of new customers nationwide. “We have seen a huge increase in our luxury sales. I do have an Apple-approved and Google-approved app and we do a lot of live sales on our app and ship all over the United States. We are branching into Canada,” Witbrod said. “Luxury sales have picked up because of that. They know that we only sell authentic items and they are guaranteed.” Witbrod debated whether to create an App, considering the expense, but she has seen fruitful benefits. “We had to go through a lot of hoops
for Apple, because you got to please Apple and follow their rules,” she said. “I think of our App as basically our second location because it keeps me extremely busy. I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way.” Unlike most retailers, which do not hold sales on luxury items, Chic and Unique looks to make each item more affordable for customers. “Your luxury brands never have sales, ever, you can walk into a Louis Vutton store and want to buy a $5,000 bag, it will never be cheaper than $5,000,” she said. However, at Chic and Unique, she said customers can typically receive the same items at about a quarter of the price. “We do our best to make them affordable for everyone,” she said.
In the heart of downtown Chic and Unique is at 137 E. Chestnut St. in Burlington’s downtown historic district.

The building was constructed in 1835 and has the original hardwood floor and ceiling. Witbrod, who operates the business with her daughter, Nikkie, opened the establishment 13 years ago this February. Inside the store, meanwhile, customers should find plenty of options. “They will see that we have half of the store is brand new boutique items that we order and the other half is consignment items that are gently used women’s clothing,” she said.
Latest trends Chic and Unique, like many other establishments, experienced a challenging two years because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, according to Witbrod, foot traffic has since picked up. “It has been very good, I am very happy that people are out again and they are looking to shop local,” she said. “I think they

are ready to get out of the house. It has been a very long two years for so many people.” As Southeastern Wisconsin moves into spring, meanwhile, Witbrod has noted new trends and demands with the seasonal change. During the spring, customers often seek out brighter, and more weather-appropriate attire. “Some a little more lighter wear is what our customers are looking for right now,” she said. “Dresses are very popular right now, again, because of the weather changing. Our luxury items are always doing very well because they are more affordable.” With business picking back up, including an influx of customers coming in and using Chic and Unique’s online services, Witbrod is savoring each moment. “I love my customers, I love interacting with them, and getting to know them,” she said. “From the sales end of it, I love doing live sales on the app and the website.” Chic and Unique, accessible online at chicandunique.net, is open 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturdays. Customers can access the app, which is free to download, on its website.

Area consignment boutique celebrates anniversary By Tracy Ouellette STAFF WRITER
New to You Consignment Boutique in Rochester celebrated its 25th anniversary in April. “The years have just flown by,” owner Maggie Hodgson said. “I can’t believe it’s been 25 years.” The shop originally opened next to the Kinder Kloset on Front Street in Rochester in April 1997 and was there about five years before moving to Main Street in 2002. “I love Rochester, it’s a great place for people to come for a visit,” Hodgson said. “It’s a short drive from everywhere and people can enjoy not only my place but all the other shops and restaurants around me. It’s a hidden gem.” Hodgson said her store is more “boutique” than some resale shops and the quality of items she carries are higher end and plentiful. “We have a lot here,” she said. “Lately I feel the big stores are so empty and they want you to order online more. We don’t have an online store, we want you to stop in and see what we have. We’re packed full of awesome things.” With being in Rochester for a quarter of a century now, Hodgson still marvels at how many people are just finding the store. “I get ‘discovered’ every single day,” she said. “It’s awesome. After 25 years people are still just finding us.” Hodgson added that the downtown Rochester business district is drawing in new customers at a steady pace. “We have some great restaurants,” she said. “The coffee shop is great and we have the sandwich shop and Chances, and don’t forget the Fox and Fork for the wine. We have a lot of fun stuff here downtown.” Although the COVID-19 pandemic did put a crimp on things for a while, Hodgson said things have pretty much returned to normal in the store. She added that while she doesn’t have an online store, for a time she was selling more on Facebook. “But that’s not happening as much now, people are happy to be back in the store and shopping,” she said.
Selling on consignment
Hodgson said one of the reasons she owns the resale shop is to help the environment. “Not only is shopping second-hand a great option for updating your wardrobe with current items at a great price, but it saves on putting more into the landfills. We all need to do our part to reduce and reuse

where we can. Sometimes I think maybe people don’t think of this as an option for that, but it’s a way we can help save our earth.” The shop’s mission statement reads: “Our mission as a business is to offer fashionable clothing at reasonable prices and to reduce our carbon footprint by recycling existing fashion through our shoppers and donating items to charities in need.” New to You accepts items for resale without an appointment, including shoes, clothes, handbags, jewelry and more. A frothy link to the past Historic site’s Brewing Experience revives techniques of the 1930s by Sandra Landen Machaj CORRESPONDENT
If you haven’t been out to Old World Wisconsin in a while, the main entrance will appear very different from your memory of previous visits. While Old World Wisconsin, on Highway 67 in Eagle, is known for its displays of historic buildings, 60 have been moved to this location and restored, there is now a large, recently built barn, known as the Brewing Experience Barn, sharing the entry space. “This barn, built on site, and the historic
Wittnebel Tavern moved from its original home in Old Ashippun are the center pieces of a new exhibit that is being created here at the entrance,” said Dan Freas, administrator of Old World Wisconsin. “Beer making has always been a part of Wisconsin’s heritage and culture so we are creating this new display to share the story of Wisconsin beer making.” The Brewing Experience Barn, which opened to the public on June 18, presents beer making just as it was in the 1930s. The experience recalls the traditional beer making and sharing a cold brew as the first keg was tapped and visitors grabbed the a beer and a bratwurst to enjoy while listening to traditional live German music – all part of Wisconsin’s beer brewing heritage. According to Freas, Old World Wisconsin chose the era of the 1930s
to focus on because it was a time of the rebirth of beer making due to the repeal of prohibition. Each day Old World Wisconsin is open, visitors may come into the barn and watch the historical brewing process. The beer at the Brewing Experience will be produced in small batches, cooked over the two large masonry fireplaces in the barn as the brewers work through each step of the process, while visitors watch. Visitors will be offered small samples of the beer created. This beer will not be sold to the public, as the license to produce it is a museum license not for resale to the public. needed,” said Rob Novak, Brewing Experience coordinator. “We will have different brewers from various breweries create beer the way it would have been done in the 1930s using old time recipes.” The plan as the project progresses is to grow the ingredients for the beer – that is the hops and barley – on site.
The full experience The brewing experience is sponsored by the Cleary-Klumm family, heirs of the Heileman Brewing Company, a long time Wisconsin brewery. In addition to watching the actual brewing demonstration, visitors will see the presentation by the brewers, of the method they are using to create the beer. There is also a touchscreen presentation that can be viewed to learn the history of brewing in Wisconsin. Visiting the brewing barn, Novak shared a look at the various pots, vats, and barrels needed to brew the beer. Large copper pots are used to boil the brew. A large tray of hops and two different types of grains, the white grain and the darker grain were on display. Each one will provide a different flavor to the beer. The grains are added to water and boiled to produce a sugar water called wort. The hops are added to the wort to add some bitterness, reducing the sweetness when boiled. The wort is placed in a fermenting pan and yeast added, allowing the wort to ferment for up to a week. Then it is finally placed in a keg to finish the process. While this is a very simplified version of the process, it takes the knowledge of a skilled brewer to bring just the right amount of ingredients together and to know how long to process in each stage to get the tasty brew they desire. Guest brewers from the many Wisconsin breweries will attend the brewing experience on different days to make the daily brew. The program was created in partnership with the Museum of Beer and Brewing. The Brewing Experience will be one of a handful of historic beer making programs in the country and the only one that brews its beer with heirloom barley and hops grown on site.
Special beer events Throughout the summer there will be some special beer dinners. The chef from Old World Wisconsin will create a fourcourse dinner and each course will be paired with a beer from a local brewery to enhance the food flavors. The foods will include locally sourced meats and vegetables providing a true Wisconsin experience. Seating will be family style so groups may share a large table with others. Staff members and volunteers from Old World Wisconsin will discuss the creation of the Brewhouse and the future of the larger Brewing Experience as it continues

to evolve. The dinners will be held at the Clausing Barn, the hexagonal barn at the entrance of the site. Diners will begin with a visit to the Brewing Experience Barn. If the timing is right, visitors may experience the sunset from the barn over South Kettle Moraine on the west side of the barn. Tickets can be ordered on line for the remaining dates this season. The July 23 dinner will partner with Raised Grain Brewery, Waukesha. The August 27 with South Ridge Malt, Greenfield and the September Dinner will feature beer from Lakefront Brewery. Tickets are available on line at $99. The Brewing Experience Barn is a beautifully crafted building and there are plans to rent it out for occasions such as small weddings, business meetings, family reunions and other smaller groups in the future.
The old tavern Combining the old and the new, adjacent to the new Brewing Experience Barn is the historic Wittnebel Tavern. The tavern was run by two generations of the Wittnebel family starting in 1906 through the 1940s. It was a favorite gathering place located in Old Ashippun on Highway 67. It was the place residents gathered to enjoy a beer or two after the workday and to share the news and gossip of the area. Long before the internet spread the news of the day, there was, and in many areas, there still is, the local tavern. Moving the tavern building to the Old Wisconsin grounds was a difficult venture. To start with, the tavern and the home shared a common wall, so they needed to be separated. The tavern itself had to be separated into three parts to move it down the highway. The first floor, second floor, and the roof were all reconnected after arriving at Old World Wisconsin “The tavern closed in the 1940s but everything was left intact,” said Freas. “We were able to remove the bar and transfer it to Old World Wisconsin separately where it will be reinstalled in the tavern in its original space.” The building was successfully moved and in the next year or so will be restored. The bar and tables will be re-installed. There will be an old time radio playing in the background and a historic wall telephone will be installed. Visitors may be asked to answer it and share the message, whether it is a customer calling or notice of a beer delivery. Officials with the historic site are optimistic the Brewing Experience exhibit will become a favorite gathering place for visitors to Old World Wisconsin who will be transported to the 1930s. Parked near the tavern will be a beer delivery truck from the 1920 to further enhance the experience. The grounds will be cultivated and 30

the hops and barley to be used in the creative brewing experience. An outdoor beer garden, or Biergarten as the German immigrants would have called it, is planned for the area, uniting the Brewing Experience Barn and the Old Tavern. It is here that visitors will gather to enjoy a meal along with a cold brew. Taking on a project of these proportions requires funding. While much funding has been raised, there is still a need for JULY 2022
